Chapter 1061: Chapter 566 This Harvest Shocked Everyone!_3
At last, Sean Knight reached the bottom, discovering at the foot of the stairs a flat space where a door stood on both the left and right.
Both stone doors were tightly shut, but this did not pose a problem for Sean Knight.
Behind the left stone door were jars of black liquid, and it was unclear whether the level had dropped slightly due to the door’s seal or because the liquid itself was not prone to evaporation.
One could tell at a glance that there was something wrong with this liquid. Sean Knight carefully examined it and immediately found that, apart from being sealed by something, the bottom and sides of the stone door were also coated with a large amount of white phosphorus!
If anyone tried to forcibly open the door and it rubbed against something, it would instantly ignite!
Needless to say, that liquid was definitely flammable. The designers were truly ruthless!
Then he turned to the right stone door and found that it was filled with sand!
All the way up to the top!
The stone door was also designed to open outwards, so as soon as it was opened, a large quantity of sand would pour out from inside!
The stone door was about three meters high—and also very easy to open—so it seemed that anyone who tried to open the door would be immediately met with disaster!
Could it be that after descending for so long, what lay hidden here were just two disastrously trapped doors?
That didn’t make sense!
Sean Knight examined the vacant land closely and finally discovered a narrow space underneath the stone steps.
And on the wall of this space was a very inconspicuous door!
But what lay behind this door was truly profound!
Ordinary people coming here would naturally focus on choosing between the two conspicuous stone doors, inadvertently overlooking the small door beneath the steps.
Whichever door one entered, death awaited, so naturally, no one would pay any attention to this small door.
Sean Knight sighed to himself, "The designer’s heart is really cold!"
He moved in front of the small door and bent down, slowly pushing it with force.
The small door just opened like that!
Behind the door was a considerably large space.
However, by this time, the space was crammed full, leaving only a very narrow corridor.
Both sides of the corridor were piled high with boxes made of fragrant-smelling wood!
Upon looking through with Sky Eye, he saw these boxes were filled with gold and silver artifacts, including tableware, wine utensils, ornaments, and most abundantly, gold and silver coins!
Here, there were tens of boxes of gold coins!
Suddenly, Sean Knight seemed to understand why there was so much gold and silverware in those ordinary homes outside—perhaps those who had migrated here were, after all, carrying mostly these items!
As his excitement slowly calmed, Sean Knight continued to walk inward, starting to collect the boxes.
The gold coins were irregularly shaped, with no patterns on them whatsoever.
The tableware and ornaments did have some patterns, though not very complex.
The boxes were stacked very high on both sides, and Sean Knight had to be careful while collecting them to prevent the unstable boxes from tumbling down.
It wasn’t until he reached the innermost part that Sean Knight noticed something different.
In the furthest part of the space, a small area had been set aside, with no boxes around.
In the middle of this area was a rectangular stone table, on top of which stood a half- person-tall golden statue, which was quite strange looking with its round head, a box strapped to its back, standing on two legs, and holding something resembling a long stick in its hands.
To Sean Knight’s surprise, Sky Eye revealed that inside this golden statue was a fist-sized ball of diamond texture.
In this diamond ball, Sean Knight’s Sky Eye detected an indescribable amount of energy!
But the outer golden statue perfectly shielded this energy—not a bit of it escaped!
The energy within this diamond ball was far more than what Sean Knight had obtained from the crosses, golden statues, and other items before!
Sean Knight was suddenly enveloped by an immense sense of happiness!
It took several minutes before his emotions calmed down.
He continued to look around at the other items.
Beside the statue were golden plates with densely packed tiny characters engraved upon them.
These characters had a bit of the cuneiform script vibe but weren’t like what Sean Knight had seen online, plus they had a hint of hieroglyphics—it felt like a combination of both.
Under the stone table was a box filled with an assortment of gemstones.
Sean Knight guessed these might be offerings?
Without fully understanding, he briskly collected these items and then breathed a sigh of relief before turning to leave the space.
After ducking his way out, Sean Knight gently closed the small door and took a glance at the two perilous doors before heading upwards.
Walking up the winding stone steps, he didn’t relax until he reached the room at the upper platform.
He was always concerned that some noise might cause the two stone doors to suddenly open, which would then be troublesome.
Would it trigger some sort of chain reaction?
After emerging from the sand, the sun had already been up for a while, and the heat in the air seemed to intensify slightly.
Sean Knight examined the stone platform—there was a passageway in the middle that extended downwards, winding around several bends.
Could there be more secrets below?
And could there be more treasures hidden inside the other stone buildings?
Sean Knight had decided not to explore further.
Though he wasn’t physically tired, he felt mentally exhausted.
He thought for a moment and headed down the street in another direction.
Planning to exit the ruin site from the other side, he wanted to evaluate both sides; then, when Elijah Hastings and his team arrived, he would bring them to explore together.
As the breeze gradually increased, the sand slowly shifted, erasing the traces of Sean Knight’s footsteps little by little.
Constantly checking his sides with Sky Eye, the scenes he encountered down the street were largely similar to those on the way in.
"Eh?"
As he passed by a building, Sean Knight suddenly stopped.
This building was noticeably more robust than the others. While the rest were made of stone mixed with wood, this one was entirely stone.
Thus, more of it had been preserved. It stood out in contrast.
The reason Sean Knight stopped was that the relics inside the building caught him by surprise.
Was this...an ancient money bank?
