Chapter 239. Primordial Blue Lotus
Chapter 239: Chapter 239. Primordial Blue Lotus
Amon stood near the corpse of the Jue Ogre. The body of this higher superior beast should contain parts valuable for a Transformation Stage cultivator like him. It was enticing, but he chose not to dissect the body and took those parts.
He would still bring the corpse with him, though. This corpse would be the proof that a Jue Ogre existed. This spirit beast was extremely rare, after all. No one would believe him unless he showed it to them. But the moment he showed it, the academy would take the corpse from him. If the corpse was already dissected, he would be forced to hand over those parts.
He didn’t want to bother with the trouble, so he would just give them the complete corpse.
He was originally planning to frame the death of the seniors on the Jue Apes. But since this Jue Ogre existed, it was a better option for explaining the deaths. He was about to store the corpse when he noticed something on the Jue Ogre’s face. There were stains of blue glimmering liquid near its mouth.
He came close to the Jue Ogre’s head and smelled a strong fragrance amidst the foul smell of the Jue Ogre. The fragrance was from the blue glimmering liquid.
"Blue liquid with sweet smell... A Jue Ogre which mostly evolves from external influences...," Amon muttered. He then turned to the opening from which the Jue Ogre had entered.
After a brief thought, he stashed the corpse of the Jue Ogre inside his space ring and walked toward the opening from where the Jue Ogre came. Behind that opening was an ordinary cave tunnel. He continued walking, all the while focusing on his sense of smell.
After walking some distance, his nose picked up a subtle scent, like the one emitted by the blue liquid on the Jue Ogre’s face. He followed the smell until he came upon a small cavern. The inside of that cavern was like a small jungle. Lush vegetation filled the place. The most eye-catching were four large blue-petal flowers the size of a truck’s wheel.
Amon grinned over the sight.
He knew these flowers because he had researched them ever since he returned from the excavation mission four years ago. Information about these flowers was scarce. No mention of them in the books from the Pyramid Legacy. He only learned about them after scouring through the books in the academy library. Even the information he finally found was mostly rumors recorded by the author.
He was looking for information about these flowers because the blue liquid from these flowers was the missing ingredient for the Beast Nectar. The Beast Nectar was the component required to activate the Allure Beacon, which was also the reason for the rebel’s assault during the excavation mission.
The information he found also mentioned these flowers had a miraculous effect upgrading spirit beasts capable of evolution, like the Jue Monkeys and Jue Apes. Even spirit beasts that could not evolve could experience physical changes if they frequently consumed the blue liquid from these flowers. They might become a stronger mutated version of their former selves.
These flowers were called Primordial Blue Lotus. With these flowers here, it was no wonder the Jue Ogre existed.
Without wasting time, Amon took out a vial and squeezed the nectar from one of the flowers. The nectar was blue and glimmering. The Jue Ogre that Amon killed had just come from taking a dose of this nectar.
As he filled the vial, he looked at the other three flowers. Legend said that even one flower could cause a large group of spirit beasts in its habitat to evolve. There were four flowers here.
He frowned. The thought that crossed his mind did not bode well. He decided not to take chances. After filling up the vial, he didn’t proceed to take the nectar from the other flowers. Instead, he checked to see which flowers had seeds. Once he found one, he used his Swan Dagger and cut that flower at its stalk.
As he did, he sensed a gaze. He looked at the opening opposite from where he came from and saw another Jue Ogre staring back at him. The Jue Ogre’s eyes moved to the cut flower in his hand. Seeing the cut flower, the Jue Ogre uttered a thundering roar.
Amon didn’t need to sense the Jue Ogre’s killing intent to know that he had drawn the ire of the beast. He swiftly stored the flower in his black space ring, turned around, and fled.
The Jue Ogre slammed his two long arms into the ground, causing cracks in the ground and a minor earthquake. It then leaped. That one leap brought it past the four Primordial Blue Lotuses and directly above Amon.
Amon’s already acute senses, boosted by the Great Virulent Serpent art, made him aware of the incoming. He used the Lingering Shade Stride. The Jue Ogre slammed into his afterimage, causing another earthquake.
Amon threw a flash grenade into the ground at the same time he dodged the assault. The small ball exploded with a bright flash, blinding and deafening the Jue Ogre. The Jue Ogre swung its long arms around furiously but hit nothing. When its vision returned, all he saw was white smoke.
Amon’s flash grenades were not made by Ah Bin’s team. They were created by himself. Inside his flash grenades were substances of his poison. He made two versions. One version contained the Thousand Dream Poison. The other contained the Fragile Bone Muscle Poison.
The one Amon threw was the one containing the Fragile Bone Muscle Poison. The airborne version of Thousand Dream Poison took some time to take effect. The Fragile Bone Muscle Poison acted faster. When Amon used the poison on Gao Dou, he reduced the dosage, so it took time for the poison to show results. If it was too fast, it would be more difficult for him to deny foul play. He didn’t reduce any dosage this time.
Like the Thousand Dream Poison, the airborne Fragile Bone Muscle Poison was also weaker but could still affect a higher superior beast, even with reduced effects. The Jue Ogre could still run, except slightly slower now. This let Amon keep a distance.
Amon ran through the tunnels he came from and into the cavern where he killed the first Jue Ogre. The opening he entered this cavern from was covered by debris. He couldn’t go through there, but many other exits were in this cavern. He ran to the nearest one. He hadn’t mapped this section of the underground network, so he was taking a gamble.
When he was close to the exit, he heard the sound of stone breaking. Without hesitation, he used his new arcane art, Corporeal Shifting Branches. A long vine shot out of his hand and attached itself to a stalagmite. He used the stalagmite to pivot and change direction without slowing down.
A large boulder went past as he swung away. It slammed into the ceiling above the opening he was originally targeting. The ceiling collapsed and blocked that opening. He, however, had already landed in another opening thanks to the pivoting. He released the vine and ran into the tunnel.
The Jue Ogre roared in fury and gave chase.

Not far from there, Gao Xiong and Yan Woo reunited after wandering around for some while. They had been following Xian Mei’s markings in circles until they stumbled into one another again.
"Did you find that prick?" Gao Xiong asked.
"No. You are the first person I see after we split," Yan Woo answered. "What the hell is Xian Mei thinking, leaving markings randomly like this?"
"We can never trust those Virtuous fools. They should have just surrendered their spots to the members of our faction," Gao Xiong spat.
"What now?" Yan Woo asked. "We can’t keep on going in circles like this. I can’t even tell the way back anymore."
"Don’t worry. I left different markings to show the way back, but we must find Lin Mo. We must finish him today!"
"Maybe the others have already taken care of him," Yan Woo said. "You heard the second siren stone, didn’t you? That must be from Lin Mo."
"Hopefully that is the case. Come on, we still need to make sure. We also need to find the others. We will travel together now. Don’t split up. We should meet the others as long as we keep going."
"All right," Yan Woo uttered.
They continued moving. They tried following different markings than the ones they followed before. But their memory wasn’t that good, so they weren’t sure. They walked slowly rather than running. This was so they could pay attention in case they heard something.
They finally heard something. The rapid footsteps of someone running. It was coming from behind. They looked back and were surprised to find it was Amon who ran toward them.
Amon was also surprised to see the two.
"Finally! You’ve delivered yourself to us!" Gao Xiong exclaimed.
