Rise of The Demon General
Chapter 240. Unwilling to Let Go

Chapter 240: Chapter 240. Unwilling to Let Go

Gao Xiong lifted his fist. He was ready to use a martial art to stop Amon.

However, Amon acted first. He threw a flash grenade into the ground near the two. The explosion caught the two off-guard.

Gao Xiong recovered first. When he opened his eyes, it was all smoke. He saw a shadow run on the wall, passing beside him. His hand shot out to catch that shadow but missed. He hurriedly grabbed Yan Woo to turn him in the right direction.

Gao Xiong pulled Yan Woo out of the smoke in the direction where the shadow went. Once he was clear of the smoke, he saw Amon’s back. Amon was running away from them.

"Don’t think you can flee!" Gao Xiong exclaimed. He let go of Yan Woo and chased Amon.

Yan Woo could also see again. He hastily followed Gao Xiong.

"Damn! That kid has good movement art...," Gao Xiong cursed. They couldn’t close their distance with Amon.

Amon’s Shadowless Sprint had improved again after two years. His mastery of this art was now at Master level. The speed boost he received from this art was greater, and he could use it longer.

"... But you still won’t escape!" Gao Xiong exclaimed. The ground underneath him exploded. Following the explosion, he shot forward like a jet.

Yan Woo was about to use the same movement art as Gao Xiong when he heard footsteps from behind, rapid footsteps. He looked back and saw another Amon there.

"Lin Mo...?" He asked. He was confused as to why there were two Amon.

’Never mind,’ he thought. If there were two, then they just slew both. Gao Xiong dealt with the one in the front. He would deal with this one from behind.

He stopped running and turned back. A saber appeared in his hand. He laughed as he swung the saber. "Haha! Boss Gao Tien will reward me handsomely for this!"

But when Yan Woo got close to this second Amon, a horrific scene occurred. Amon’s hair proliferated. It became so long it reached his waist. His body also became much bigger. The shirt on his body vanished, revealing a dark blue body covered by thin fur.

Yan Woo saw Amon instead of the Jue Ogre because he was hallucinating. The flashbang grenade Amon used on him contained the Thousand Dream Poison. Even a Peak Transformation Stage cultivator like Wei Sui could be affected by the airborne version. It was not strange Yan Woo suffered the effect much sooner.

Yan Woo was still in consternation when the Jue Ogre swung its arm. The massive arm crashed into Yan Woo’s saber in mid-swing. The saber shattered to pieces upon contact. The large fist went on and crashed into Yan Woo’s head.

The punch shoved Yan Woo into the wall. Yan Woo lost all thoughts as dizziness overcame him. His body stayed straight by leaning on the wall. A second impact hit his head again, sandwiching his head and the wall. He felt nothing afterward.

The Jue Ogre’s second fist crushed Yan Woo’s head. The headless body fell to the ground. The Jue Ogre kicked the body in anger. It was furious because this human slowed him down from pursuing the thief who stole one of their precious flowers. It resumed the pursuit again after that kick.

Gao Xiong was still chasing Amon. He wasn’t aware Yan Woo was no longer following him. All his focus was on Amon. Suddenly, the ground he was running on gave way. He fell into a hole covered by dried leaves and branches. This was a pitfall trap. Amon led him to where he placed the rest of his traps.

Inside the pitfall were sharp wooden spikes. Those spikes came from low-tier engraved spears Amon bought.

Gao Xiong was startled by the trap, but his response was fast. He slammed his palm downward. His palm produced a powerful shockwave that blew everything away, including his own body. The shockwave flattened all the spikes inside the pit, and the recoiling force pushed him out.

When he landed, he felt pain in his left leg. He looked at that leg and saw a cut. Apparently, his response was not fast enough.

While he stared at the cut, he saw things crawling out of it. Upon closer inspection, the things were spiders. Tiny spiders. A lot of it!

"What...! What is this?!" He yelled in panic. He slapped those spiders, but more and more continued to come out. In a short moment, his entire left leg was covered by a swarm of tiny spiders.

He stomped that leg repeatedly while slapping at the spiders non-stop, but the spiders kept filling up more and more of his body.

While Gao Xiong was haunted by the illusion, he didn’t notice the Jue Ogre standing behind him.

The Jue Ogre spread his arms to opposite sides. With quick swings, it brought his two hands together. The two hands slapped into Gao Xiong’s head. The first slap caused Gao Xiong’s head to slightly deform. A cracking sound was heard. One of his eyeballs popped out of its socket.

The second slap cracked his entire head. Gao Xiong died the same death as Yan Woo, without a head.

Amon was glad he chanced upon the two. He could kill two birds with one stone, taking them out and slowing the Jue Ogre. With this, the most problematic seniors had been taken care of. He was unsure about the other seniors, but those other seniors were paired with freshman students. So, those seniors couldn’t move freely even if they wanted to.

Out of the group he suspected was targeting him, only Gao Sou was left. He did not worry about that junior student. Even without tricks, he believed he could defeat Gao Sou with his current cultivation.

After running for some time, he finally reached the exit. He dashed out of the cave and headed directly in the village direction. Now that he was out of the cave, the danger should be much diminished. Records inside the Encyclopedia of Spirit Beasts mentioned that the Jue Ogre was very territorial. They defended their territory fiercely but mostly stayed within it. Unless they ran out of food sources, they rarely ventured out. Even so, Amon didn’t slow down.

After running for a few minutes, his acute hearing heard rapid but heavy footsteps from behind.

"What...?" He recognized these footsteps. They were from the Jue ogre. It was still chasing him.

’Is it because of the Primordial Blue Lotus?’ He thought. There were still three flowers inside the cave. He didn’t expect this Jue Ogre to be unwilling to let go of even a single flower. But considering the flower was the reason for their evolution, he guessed he could understand the resentment.

He pondered while running. Should he let go of the flower? His life was more important than any treasure. Right now, it was unlikely for him to win against the Jue Ogre. His strongest weapon was his poison, but he didn’t have the means to wound the beast to deliver the poison. Unless he could make the Jue Ogre horny and reveal its vulnerable penis, he doubted he had a chance.

He could hear the Jue Ogre behind him was gaining on him. The effect of the Fragile Bone Muscle Poison must be waning. The Jue Ogre had a marvelous constitution. For it to shrug off the effect of the poison in such a short time was not unexpected.

His trump card, the combined aether inside his mixed energy space, was unavailable. The mixed aether took a long time to recover and was only enough for one attack. Other than using that mixed energy, he didn’t think he could produce enough power to wound the Jue Ogre.

Should he forfeit the flower? He knew he didn’t have much time to decide. The Jue Ogre sounded closer by the second.

When he was about to reach into his black space ring to fetch the flower, his eyes caught something in the distance. He grinned. It seemed that fate favored him this time.

He changed direction and yelled, "Teacher Yong Ling...! Teacher Gao Xi...! Help...!!"

The people he was shouting at turned to look at him. The two were on their way to the village. They fought the three Jue Ogres and a score of Jue Apes while retreating. After reaching a certain distance, the Jue Ogres and Jue Apes stopped chasing them. The two were relieved when that happened. If they had to fight only the Jue Ogres, they could still win. But with the interference from the Jue Apes that didn’t seem to run out, they were having trouble. Furthermore, Yong Ling was wounded. She couldn’t use her full strength.

"Lin... Lin Mo?" Gao Xi said with surprise. "Where is Xian Mei?"

"We can worry about that later, teacher Xi. Look behind him!" Yong Ling said. Her white spear appeared in her hand.

"Tsk!" Gao Xi didn’t understand what had happened. But with the Jue Ogre enclosing, he must leave the questions for later.
