Rise of The Demon General
Chapter 238. Out of the Cave

Chapter 238: Chapter 238. Out of the Cave

Gao Xi’s group was running toward the exit. They were close now. Gao Xi, who was running at the head, could see the light from outside. Four Jue Apes were waiting near the exit. They had run ahead via other paths and lay in wait there. Once they saw the groups, they uttered loud voices and charged toward Gao Xi.

Gao Xi thrust his arms. His twin steel chains shot forward. The bladed tips of the chains pierced through two Jue Apes. The chains then wrapped themselves around the Jue Apes. Gao Xi spread his arms to opposite sides. The chains yanked the bound apes to the left and right. They struck their comrades and sent the other Jue Apes sprawling to the cave walls.

Gao Xi activated the sawing effect of his chains, and the two bound Jue Apes were cut into mincemeat.

Wu Chun, the frontmost after Gao Xi since she didn’t carry any woman, ran to one of the Jue Apes that fell after being bumped by its bound comrade. She took out a sword from her space ring, which was a different and inferior sword from her original one. That sword was lost when she was besieged by the Jue Ape horde.

She stabbed the Jue Ape’s chest before it had the chance to rise. She stepped on it, using her weight to pin it down. She then stabbed it repeatedly. She intentionally missed its vital parts so it didn’t die too fast. She laughed like a madwoman when she heard the Jue Ape’s painful howl.

Gao Xi shook his head. He didn’t stop her. He went and dealt with the one remaining Jue Ape.

"What the hell is wrong with her?" Wu Di asked about Wu Chun when they ran past. She was still stabbing the Jue Ape while laughing.

"Shut up and just get out of this cave," Tuang Yin told him.

Behind them, occasional flames erupted from the depth of the cave. Those flames signaled that Yong Ling was still holding the rear. The Jue Ape horde was still chasing them.

After rushing out of the cave, they felt much better when the sunlight hit their skin. They heaved a sigh of relief. Gao Xi made sure everyone was accounted for. Wu Chun had also finished the Jue Ape and exited the cave. The only one who was not out yet was Yong Ling.

Those who carried the women were about to put them down when Gao Xi said, "I will help Yong Ling. You all bring the women back to the village!"

"I can help you!" Wu Di exclaimed.

"No! You will only weigh us down if we have to look after you while fighting," Gao Xi said.

Gao Xi was using this opportunity to send the students away. He wasn’t truly worried about Yong Ling. The Jue Apes might be many, but Yong Ling was an Intermediate Mystic Stage cultivator. As long as she was not careless, it was unlikely she got killed by those apes. It was more likely those apes scattered and hid before she could kill them all.

After seeing so many Jue Apes in the underground network, it could be said that their mission was complete. The Jue Apes were too many. What they saw was not even the whole number. The kingdom would have to send an extermination team to comb through the caves and annihilate every last one of the Jue Apes.

Since that was the case, this was their final opportunity to finish Amon. If they failed, they would be returning to the Royal Academy later today.

Thinking about that, Gao Xi was bewildered. He still hadn’t heard any siren stone cry aside from the one activated by Wu Di. He wondered if Gao Xiong’s group had finished Amon before he had the chance to use the siren stone. It would be best if that were the case.

He planned to head out to look for Gao Xiong’s group once the students here left for the village. As he had that thought, the cry of a second siren stone was heard. It was coming from far away, around the area where Xian Mei and Amon entered the cave.

Gao Xi frowned. They only found the brat now?

The others, who were about to head back to the village, stopped after hearing the siren stone’s cry.

"Someone else is in danger?" Wei Cao asked.

"Maybe they encounter another Jue Ape horde," Tuang Yin conjectured.

"We have to save them!" Wu Di exclaimed.

"I will go check. You all bring those women back to the village!" Gao Xi ordered. This turned out to be a perfect excuse to go help Gao Xiong’s group.

Before anyone could move, a fiery explosion occurred from the cave they had just come out of. Not long after, Yong Ling shot out from the cave. She rolled in the air a few times before landing. Her feet skidded on the ground as she resisted the force that had thrown her out.

After she stopped, she spit out a mouthful of blood.

"Te... Teacher Yong Ling...?" The students asked.

They all had the same thoughts as Gao Xi. Even though the Jue Apes had an overwhelming number, they should have difficulty wounding Yong Ling. Yet, what they saw proved otherwise.

Yong Ling turned to them and yelled, "What are you all standing there for? Hurry up and run! Gao Xi, you stay and help me!"

Gao Xi was surprised. Why did Yong Ling need his help? He then heard heavy footsteps from inside the cave. He turned and saw something huge walking out of the cave. The Jue Apes were lining obediently behind this thing.

"A... A Jue Ogre...? I thought this spirit beast was just a myth," Gao Xi said. He then turned to the students and exclaimed, "Run to the village! Tell Captain Lian Wui to send help!"

Hearing the urgent tone from both teachers, the students knew it was not the time to fuck around. They turned and ran, including Wu Chun.

The Jue Ogre glanced at the fleeing students but didn’t move. He just grunted. Following his grunt, the Jue Apes behind him rushed out of the cave and chased after the students.

Yong Ling acted. She swung her spear, which conjured a huge burst of flame. This flame traveled forward and burned everything in its path, creating a fierce firewall.

The Jue Apes couldn’t pass through the wall because it was too hot. The ones at the front were even burned by it. They jumped back while yelping in pain. They rolled on the ground, trying to extinguish the flames burning their fur.

The Jue Apes on the back jumped onto nearby trees after seeing the firewall. They jumped from tree to tree to get past the firewall.

Steel chains assaulted the frontmost Jue Apes, slapping them and making them fall to the ground. These steel chains then multiplied as they shot in all directions, coiling around the trees. In a short time, the chains formed a spider web with Gao Xi at the center.

"None of you will get past," Gao Xi announced.

Yong Ling glanced at the students who were getting further away.

’They should be far enough,’ she thought. She twirled her spear. Flames rolled around her, following her spear’s movements.

She didn’t use any strong art inside the cave for fear that the constricted environment would push her flames in the students’ direction. Now that the students were away and she had more space around her, she did not worry anymore.

She did not fear the Jue Ogre. Her cultivation allowed her to fight a lower mythical beast. The Jue Ogre was a higher superior beast, which was one level lower. However, she sensed this Jue Ogre was stronger than a normal Higher Superior Beast. She had been wounded because she didn’t expect an ambush from a Jue Ogre while keeping the Jue Apes horde back. Even so, she was still confident she could take care of this Jue Ogre.

The flames rolling around her became stronger. So strong that it was almost a hurricane.

"Die, you filthy apes!" She exclaimed.

The flames around her abruptly grew and intensified. It was also rolling forward. The massive flames covered everything. The trees were burned to ashes when the flames touched them. The Jue Apes couldn’t get far because of Gao Xi’s iron chains. These Jue Apes were burned and fell to the ground while burning.

The Jue Apes didn’t die instantly due to their sturdy constitution. However, the flames continued to burn them. They rolled on the ground while screaming, yet the flames didn’t show any sign of weakening. They continued trying to douse the flames without success, until they lay still on the ground, still burning.

The Jue Apes still inside the cave refrained from coming out after seeing the scene.

While Yong Ling’s arcane art took out a large portion of the Jue Apes, the Jue Ogre wasn’t affected. It walked out of the burning flame. His hair and fur were singed, but no flame could latch onto its metal-like skin.

To make matters worse, two more Jue Ogres walked out of the cave.
