Chapter 114 - 18 Rapid Fire
Chapter 114: Chapter 18 Rapid Fire
Sigrdrifa and Eleanor immediately sped up, as they were both equipped with advanced armor, and thus were the first to meet the burning stones head-on, shielding their companions behind them.
The Night Watch Knights also followed suit, utilizing the high defensive power of their power armors to form a moving steel wall, offering firm protection to the remaining companions.
The rain of stones struck the shields and armors, making a dense and rattling sound.
The shockwaves transmitted through the armor caused significant damage to everyone’s bodies in just the first round.
Almost at the same moment they were injured, everyone came to a realization.
These stones had become "cannonballs" because Alexander’s dead body carried the "Meteor" Sequence in his Bloodline, which could manipulate gravity to control the stones.
That meant, the farther apart the two sides were, the stones would be accelerated by gravity even faster, thus inflicting greater damage.
At that moment, as the distance between the two sides was barely maintained within twenty steps, the damage caused by the stones after the gravity boost was still bearable.
But if the distance were to be increased or if the stones were any larger, the outcome would be uncertain.
Everyone could only muster all their strength for a full-speed sprint, striving not to be left behind by the floating undead.
"Two minutes!" Aske suddenly issued an order.
The ladies immediately sidestepped, splitting into two formations to the left and right.
Just in front of the undead, a massive rock emerged from the ground, hurtling towards them with an irresistible and fierce momentum.
The ladies had just completed their split when the giant rock rolled right through the gap in the middle of them.
The Night Watch Knights, quick to pick up on cues despite not understanding Aske’s command, instinctively followed the ladies’ actions, thus, they too, were spared from being directly hit by the massive rock.
Only Knight Fubisi reacted a tad slower, his left hand struck by the rock during his dodge, causing his entire arm to droop at once, seemingly broken.
"High wind, sixty degrees to the front!" Aske warned again.
Thira immediately activated her Spirituality to cast spells, while the undead also spread its palms.
A surge of blue flames burst forth from its palms, resembling a rapidly sweeping solar torrent, containing immense and terrifying energy.
Two meters in front of the group, the Flame Flow met the fierce wind raised by Thira and was instantly blown backward in a roaring backdraft.
Even shielded behind the barrier of the wind, everyone could feel the scorching high temperature and the dreadful smell of the burnt air that faced them.
Light twisted, heat ravaged, everything was instantly vaporized.
Had it not been for the hurricane blocking the flames, those directly exposed to the flame flow would likely have turned to charred remains in an instant.
"No, that fire is too fierce!" Knight Colby roared angrily, his eyes filled with horror as he noticed the earth in front of them melting, the soil fused into transparent crystals.
"That’s definitely not the strength of a Level 5!"
"It is Level 5!" Commander Blaise said loudly, "His power is controlled at Level 5, but the Spirituality of the puppet master behind the scenes is far beyond Level 5!"
Everyone was horrified.
It was like two players agreeing to duel with characters of the same level, only for one to bring in a professional to fight on their behalf.
Here because of the limit on hand speed and operation, you can only unleash 80% of the character’s maximum strength; there the output is already maxed out.
Even if the characters themselves are of the same level, can the effects of the battle be the same?
Not to mention Spirituality doesn’t just determine the control ability over Extraordinary Power; it is also about the replenishment and consumption of that power.
With the same level of Flame Sequence Ability fully engaged, a Level 5 Transcendent could only last a few minutes, while a Demigod Level could sustain output for days and nights on end.
Comparing actual combat power was even less of a negotiation.
While the undead was busy suppressing the others, Aske also swiftly bent down and charged forward, instantly boosting his speed to the maximum.
Undoubtedly, the true body of the manipulator was in the Netherworld.
The limit of the Magic Tide could only constrain the Transcendents of the Main Plane. But in the Netherworld, Demigod Transcendents were able to fully unleash their Spirituality, manipulating zombies through overlapping spatial corridors without any risk of backlash.
Even if the power of the zombies on the Main Plane was suppressed to Lv.5, considering that it belonged to the famously destructive Arcane Sequence, they remained highly dangerous under the manipulation of a Demigod.
So a quick battle was necessary.
Aske sighed inwardly; he had intended to lead everyone through an instance to accumulate experience, but every boss they encountered was far beyond their current capability to handle.
The Black Knight was one, and Alexander’s corpse was another; in the end, it was up to him to act alone.
The zombie seemed to notice them, its body floating in the air slowly turning around.
Its right hand was still spewing a high-temperature stream of flame at them, pinning them firmly behind a barrier of fierce wind, while its left hand lifted, aiming at Aske as a large amount of debris rose into the air.
Burning Meteor Rain, Rapid Fire.
Countless burning pebbles, like a barrage, instantly engulfed him.
Aske, charging at high speed, swerved sharply and with impeccable precision, evaded the barrage.
The zombie clenched its right hand forcefully, and more rocks were pulled up by gravity.
The number of these was ten times the previous.
Multiple Reflex Charges? Ignoring physical inertia comes at a price, and it will cause significant damage to your body.
How many more times can you withstand?
As if more than ten heavy machine guns were firing at the same time, another storm-like barrage enveloped Aske’s surroundings.
This time, he couldn’t dodge it.
His figure was instantly covered by flames and billowing smoke, with debris and soil flying in all directions.
"Aske!" A shrill cry erupted from the group.
Nora frantically tried to rush out, but Eleanor firmly grasped her arm.
"He’s not dead!" Eleanor bellowed.
From within the searing smoke, Aske’s figure burst out, miraculously unharmed.
The zombie, clearly puzzled, once again manipulated gravity to lift even more pebbles, igniting them.
Then fired off another volley.
Another storm of Meteor Fire Rain devastated the entire ground, leaving it riddled with holes as smoke rose high, obscuring any view of what lay inside.
Seconds later, Aske burst out again.
Still without a scratch, but there seemed to be smoke marks on the surface of his cloth armor.
After two charges and breakthroughs, the distance between them had closed to within twenty steps; even while defending against the zombie’s Meteor Fire Rain attacks, Aske’s charge did not slow down at all.
For the third time, the zombie clenched its fist in midair, lifting an almost enormous amount of pebbles that spun violently in the air.
Layer upon layer, densely packed—enough to nauseate anyone with a fear of clusters.
But this time, the group of pebbles bore no flames, to avoid the smoke obstructing the view.
Impatiently, it waved its hand, and a torrent of pebbles shot out like a storm.
Facing this overwhelming shower of stones, Aske lifted the arm holding his longsword as he charged.
Then both his arm and longsword turned into a blur of afterimages, and as the shooting stones approached him, their direction seemed to twist, spraying away in all directions.
Star Nine Forms, the third form, Rapid Fire.
Intercepting all physical ranged attacks.
