Vice Mayor Su rushed to the Hedong Sub-bureau at top speed, the man in his sixties sprinting inside as soon as he got out of the car. He was entirely focused on winning every second, striving to minimize the impact of online dissemination.

"Vice Mayor Su, why are you here?" Liu Yuqing had just come downstairs and bumped into Vice Mayor Su. Seeing the vice mayor running, he was taken aback.

"Where is that Song Xiaodong you arrested?" Vice Mayor Su asked breathlessly.

"He’s in the interrogation room," said Liu Yuqing. "Vice Mayor Su, this situation is quite troublesome. I think we should follow the normal procedures."

"Follow my ass, I’m here to plead," Vice Mayor Su burst out, eager, "Hurry and take me there."

When Liu Yuqing heard this, it seemed to simplify matters. "That would indeed be best. I’ll take you right now," he said quickly.

"By the way, Vice Mayor Su, do you know Song Xiaodong’s background?" Liu Yuqing suddenly asked.

"What background does he have?" Vice Mayor Su stopped in his tracks.

Liu Yuqing explained, "Song Xiaodong is not just a manager at Qingyuan Group, he’s also a famous doctor, very well-known at City First Hospital. Some time ago, when Deputy Mayor Shen had an incident, it was he who saved Deputy Mayor Shen’s life. Now, he has quite a good relationship with you."

"Oh... I see," Vice Mayor Su frowned slightly.

Liu Yuqing gave a bitter smile, "A young man stirring up trouble, I really feel it shouldn’t have escalated this much."

Vice Mayor Su’s mouth twitched again. He didn’t know whether Deputy Mayor Shen had a hand in this behind the scenes but no matter what, he had to talk to Song Xiaodong first.

Taking a deep breath, Vice Mayor Su said, "Now we go in and apologize, and our attitude must be sincere."

"Apologize?" Su Yawei’s eyes widened.

Vice Mayor Su said sternly, "Exactly, only by apologizing can we downplay this matter, otherwise it’s going to be a big problem."

Su Yawei’s mouth twitched slightly, but he came to understand and clenched his teeth saying, "Alright then."

The two followed Liu Yuqing inside, where two old police officers looked somewhat confused. Could this case still be prosecuted? They had already lost count of how many times people had come to make a record.

Clearing his throat, Vice Mayor Su said, "I am Su Yawei’s grandfather. Su Yawei was in the wrong here, and I have brought him here to apologize to you." He then gave Su Yawei a meaningful look.

Su Yawei bit his lip, and though he was reluctant, he could only say, "I am sorry."

Song Xiaodong looked at the two and said indifferently, "You owe me no apologies. Since you wanted to deal with me, let’s just see who can outplay whom."

Vice Mayor Su’s expression slightly darkened as he said, "Young man, there is a limit to everything. Even if you have Deputy Mayor Shen backing you up, you still need to show some restraint and not take things too far."

If I were just an ordinary citizen with no social influence, when your grandson had someone beat me up the first time, would I have just had to take the beating? You use your positions to drag me here; if I were just a regular person, would you not have just pinned false charges on me and then thrown me in jail for life, completely ruining my life?"

Song Xiaodong took a couple of drags and said, "Vice Mayor Su, today I’m not seeking Deputy Mayor Shen’s help, nor anyone else’s. I don’t want to compete over connections. I will use the identity of an ordinary citizen to face off against you officials. I want to show that officials are supposed to serve the people, not exploit them. The police are here to protect the people. You all are paid by the taxpayers, and all your authority is granted by the people."

"Well said!" Liu Yuqing loudly praised. Coming from a military background himself, Song Xiaodong’s words instantly ignited his fervor. He then directly added, "As for the corrupt elements within our police force, I will definitely thoroughly investigate this matter. I absolutely won’t let those who abuse their power remain in the police force. If they are involved in illegal activities, we will hand them over to the judicial authorities."

Zhao Chuo and Xiao Liu were standing at the entrance, watching the situation inside.
