Chapter 472: Chapter 473: It’s All Over
Vice Mayor Su waved his hand hurriedly, "You guys go out first; we need to talk to him a bit more. Director Liu, please keep this under wraps for me, don’t let word get out."
Liu Yuqing’s mouth twitched; he waved his hand, leading everyone out, but as he reached the door, he added, "Go unlock Mr. Song’s handcuffs."
Li Jin immediately turned around and unlocked Song Xiaodong’s handcuffs.
These police officers were all terrified now; Song Xiaodong had recited Vice Mayor Su’s family affairs like counting his treasures, which could very well belong to the Discipline Inspection Commission, or even from the higher-ups. Otherwise, how could he know such detailed information about Vice Mayor Su?
Now Vice Mayor Su was still arresting him, and if this wasn’t handled well, it could truly be over.
Once everyone had left, Vice Mayor Su’s face turned pale as he asked, "Are you from the Discipline Inspection Commission?"
"What do you think?" Song Xiaodong asked with a smile.
Vice Mayor Su clenched his teeth, "Then how much money do you want? Just say it. As long as it can save me, I’ll admit to everything."
"I want all the assets you’ve embezzled," Song Xiaodong said indifferently.
"What? Why don’t you just rob me?" Su Yawei immediately shouted in anger. All the embezzled assets meant everything.
Song Xiaodong stood up and said calmly, "What? You can’t bear to part with it? Were these things originally supposed to belong to you? You’ve taken this ill-gotten wealth, and you still want to keep it?"
"Fine!" Vice Mayor Su clenched his teeth; as long as he could keep his position, he still had a chance to make a fortune in the remaining two years, but if he really got into trouble now, he would lose everything, including his freedom.
"Grandfather!" Sun Yawei suddenly cried out in urgency.
Vice Mayor Sun gestured with his hand, "I said it’s okay. Mr. Song, I can give you all these things immediately; within two days, I can transfer all the real estate to your name, and move all the funds as well. But for now, please contact someone to delete the stuff online immediately."
Song Xiaodong grinned, "Sorry, I don’t want the money."
"Didn’t you say you wanted all my embezzled money?" Vice Mayor Su furrowed his brows.
"Yes, I said I wanted all your embezzled money, but not for myself; someone higher up wants it."
"Higher up... I understand; you have someone higher up involved. I get it; just tell me where to transfer the money, and I’ll do just that, clear and simple," he assured.
Song Xiaodong laughed heartily, "You really are sensible now."
"Yes, yes, it’s important to know oneself," Vice Mayor Su chuckled dryly.
"But you still misunderstood my intention. What I mean is... the money will naturally be collected by the judiciary, it’s not for you to send over."
"What do you mean?" Vice Mayor Su’s face suddenly darkened, and he angerly said, "Are you really trying to screw me over?"
Song Xiaodong let out a cold laugh, "Are you feeling very irritated?"
Vice Mayor Su clenched his fists, staring at Song Xiaodong without a word.
Song Xiaodong slightly smiled, "You are clearly in the wrong, and yet you feel so angry when manipulated? Have you considered how upset I felt when you were manipulating me, not to mention all those others you’ve targeted? They were so angry, powerless even to resist. They could only swallow their grievances, they had to swallow it. Yet, they are much more furious than you are right now."
"You..." Vice Mayor Su pointed at Song Xiaodong, his words hammered one after another in his chest, leaving him speechless.
"Heavenly torment is bearable, self-inflicted woes are not," Song Xiaodong exhaled a ring of smoke, lightly uttering these words as he headed towards the door, "Your people are here; best of luck."
Seeing the people who entered, Vice Mayor Su’s face turned deathly pale, and his body could not help but soften; these people were all from the Municipal Discipline Inspection Committee.
In normal times, he wouldn’t have taken the Municipal Discipline Inspection seriously, but under the current circumstances, they would certainly control him first, followed most likely by an investigation from the Provincial Discipline Inspection Commission. He knew his life was over.
"Yawei, you have really ruined me!" Vice Mayor Su looked at Su Yawei, his lips trembling as he spoke.
Su Yawei also looked extremely distressed, stammering, "It’s okay, it’s okay, Grandpa, you’ll be fine, you’re still the Vice Mayor; nobody can do anything to you."
"It’s over, it’s all over; from now on, you have to make your own way," Vice Mayor Su suddenly seemed much older.
He was very aware that his own fate was sealed, but Su Yawei was just a student, uninvolved in all the corruption and bribery. As for the assault on Song Xiaodong, it wasn’t a big issue; it was his, his children’s fortunes at stake, likely all to be lost this time.
Now that they were ruined, their assets unrecoverable, Su Yawei would surely lose the glories of his past, and everything would depend on him alone from now on.
Su Yawei watched in shock as his grandfather walked out with the Discipline Inspection officials, still standing there dumbfounded; he realized that with his family’s foundation crumbled, his days of living in glory were over.
"This can’t be happening; it can’t be. What is Song Xiaodong but an opponent; how could he topple my grandfather? This must be a lie; it has to be a lie!" Su Yawei shouted in anger.
Li Jin approached with a stern face and said, "Leave now, this is an interrogation room, not a place for you." He had always disliked Su Yawei, and now he finally had a chance to express it.
Su Yawei pointed at Li Jin’s nose, shouting at the top of his voice, "You’re telling me to leave? Do you know who I am? I’m Vice Mayor Su’s grandson; in Tiannan City, who dares to drive me away?"
Li Jin laughed coldly, "Alright, if you won’t leave, then I will charge you with obstructing official duties, and then you really will have to stay here."
"You... you... you’re too much!" Su Yawei exploded in rage.
Li Jin’s tone grew even colder, "You also know how painful it is to be bullied? Then think about how you used to bully others."
"You all wait, I, Su Yawei, will definitely avenge this, definitely. Song Xiaodong, and you cops, you’re all going to die! All of you!" Su Yawei screamed in fury.
"Get out, and if you keep yelling in here, I’ll arrest you right now," Li Jin impatiently pushed Su Yawei out. This kid was truly detestable; he really felt like slapping him.
