Reborn: The Return of the Villainous Mr. Liu
Chapter 1101 - 1101: What falling in love means

Jin couldn't fathom where this was coming from. They were having a good conversation but then Alix suddenly dropped a bomb like this.

"Why do you look like that?"

"H-How else am I supposed to look?" He finally managed to get his voice out.

Alix knitted her brows together. "So you don't want to sleep with me?"

"..."

Before his face would explode out of sheer redness by her bold question, he asked, "Why are you s-suddenly asking about…this?"

"Because we are married? I was in my own zone until now so it didn't occur to me but I think we should do something about our relationship," she stared at him.

It wasn't like Alix hadn't noticed this during her earlier visits to the Liu villa before her marriage but it became crystal clear after the Liu roof above her head became permanent.

The conclusion she reached at the time of her first breakfast as she observed them was that Liu men were very, very romantic by nature. They wanted to be as close to their wives as possible and wouldn't leave any chance to publicly or privately express their affection towards their partner. When she saw Jing kiss Yukito so passionately, it made her think about her Jin.

Surely he wants to do this with me too, right?

So began her observation of the couples. She wouldn't call it staring or stalking in her defense but she simply wanted to learn how the couples spent their days. Needless to say, hearts were floating everywhere. The couples bickered, argued but loved each other like the world would end if they didn't.

So what about Jin and her?

Alix was slowly finding her place in the Liu family despite her resistance but what about her marriage with Jin? Where was it leading to? She thought she couldn't just sit still and ignore this topic as if it didn't exist. She was self-aware that she knew more about the R of revenge rather than the R of romance, but even she knew of the things supposed to happen after marriage.

Jin found his breaths more and more stacked up in his throat.

"By something you mean…?" He left it unsaid.

Alix blinked. "Isn't that the direction things normally take after marriage?"

His jaw dropped, dumbfounded. "You are…proposing for things to go further between us just because we are married?"

"Why else would you marry me?" She didn't understand his confusion.

"H-Hey hold on! Why do you make it sound like I married you only to sleep with you?"

"I'm not saying that's the only reason but isn't it one of the reasons? I mean, you say you love me so obviously, you would want to do more things than just saying 'I love you' right?"

"..."

On the surface, her argument sounded very logical but that was precisely why he was at a loss to respond.

"But nothing happened between us and I'm wondering how are you 'taking care' of yourself?"

The emphasis on 'taking care' made him choke.

"So I concluded we should go ahead," she nodded.

Jin felt his head spin. For Alix, the equation was too simple like A+B=C but he couldn't decipher where in the hell was A, B and C!

He took a few deep breaths and forced himself to calm down. He shifted closer and sat straight by folding his knees against each other. He patted the space in front of him.

"Let's sit and…talk, please?"

Alix frowned. Nevertheless, she kept her book aside and sat upright in a similar position facing him. "What is it?"

She sounded so chill that Jin was starting to get a little scared now.

"You see, it's true that we are married but taking that step is a huge step."

She blinked twice.

"It's like…" Jin made some odd gestures in the air with his hands as if trying to think how to explain it to her. "It's not just physical."

"Isn't sex exactly that? Physical? Two bodies uni-"

"*Ahemm*!!!" He sharply cleared his throat while also throwing a glare at her. "It's also about the hearts!"

She furrowed her brows.

"...I won't lie to you that I don't think about you in that way," he coughed. "Naturally, there is physical attraction."

"Uh-huh."

"But there is also the emotional attraction to you. I'm not looking at you just physically. It's the culmination of both factors that make me feel what I feel about you."

"So?"

"You don't feel that way about me, right? At least…not yet," his own words stabbed him.

"I do, don't I?"

"Huh? How?"

"I mean, physical attraction was never the problem with you. Like I said before, you are a walking sea of pheromones."

He grimaced. "You also said not to put words into your mouth."

"You should learn to read your wife better then."

My brows are twitching incessantly today…

"As far as emotional attraction is concerned, didn't I upgrade your status from a piece of shit to big bear? Why would I have done that if I hadn't changed my opinion of you emotionally?" She frowned heavily.

"..."

Stunned, he asked, "You are equating a change of status to falling in love?"

"Falling in love?" She arched her brow. "How do you define that term?"

"Well, it's when you feel like you cannot live without that person in your life? That's how I felt during those four months when you refused to meet me."

"Hm? But that is your definition of falling in love, isn't it? Does mine need to have to be the same as yours? By love, if you mean my intensity or shape of feelings should exactly match yours, then you've got the wrong idea. Everyone processes and experiences emotions differently.

Your feelings could make you sabotage yourself by dumping yourself in jail just to be able to meet me. My feelings made me change your nickname because you hugged me to sleep that night. Probably, it's not as grand as what you did but does it have to be?"

"I…" Jin wasn't sure how to answer that.

"You should understand that you had the privilege of having such lofty ideals about love because you were raised in a family like that. But I have seen my mother love two men very honestly and earnestly and what did she get in return? I have seen a form of love very differently from what you have."

He froze.

"So my idea of love might not be the same as yours but is it wrong just because it's not the same?" She tilted her head.
