Reborn: The Return of the Villainous Mr. Liu -
Chapter 1100 - 1100: The intense stares
"Is something the matter?"
Was the question Jin also asked to Alix upon his return. For some reason, he found her squinting her eyes quite intensely at him.
"Nothing."
He was dumbfounded. "You wouldn't squint at me for nothing. There is definitely something bothering you."
"Nope."
Well…
Alix pushed down the duvet and watched him closely.
See, that's what I'm talking about!
Jin sat beside her and smiled. Though one might back away with her black gaze fixed at them as if she was going to eat them alive, Jin actually found it quite adorable.
"I heard you and Mom cooked stew together," his gaze shone and lips grinned. "I had some just now. It was delicious!"
"I only chopped the veggies."
"The veggies were the most delicious of all."
Alix's eyes squinted further and at one point, Jin thought they would eventually shut tight.
As he returned from shower, Alix was still in the same position, thinking something hard as her glances would occasionally land at Jin.
"Say…"
"Yup?" He asked as he dried his hair.
"Do you think I should consider becoming a teacher?"
Jin blinked twice, his expression then shining with delight. "Is this about what Aunt Xie suggested to you? Yes. I feel you'll really be a good teacher."
Her eyes narrowed. "I don't want a biased answer."
"Biased?"
"Just because of how you feel about me."
"Ah."
He shook his head and sat down beside her again.
"I'm not being biased. Well, you might feel that way because I want to dote on you endlessly."
Her brow twitched.
A beautiful smile curved his lips. "But I won't be biased. If you are seriously considering teaching as a career choice, then I wouldn't lie to you just because I love you. It's the opposite actually. If some career line doesn't match with your skills and personality, I wouldn't want you to unnecessarily invest your time in it only to get disappointed that it wouldn't work out. Bluntly speaking, a wrong choice will only be a waste of your time and energy."
The squinted eyes slightly expanded with a distinct glint in them.
"Is that so?"
"Yup. I see how comfortable you are with the kids and the kids love you too. They also like your way of teaching essays so I think you have a solid foundation. With proper guidance, probably by Aunt Xie, I'm sure you will excel in it."
Alix stared at the unwavering support in his beautiful black irises.
"...Got it."
Jin turned over to his side and pulled the blanket to sleep. Finally, there were no kids tonight to hog the middle space between them.
I will not waste this chance!
By not wasting his chance, he only meant that he would be freely able to observe his beautiful wife as she slept and feel all fluttery and ticklish inside. The cats, perched upon their royal pillows, only looked at him with pity.
To his surprise, Alix wasn't quite stepping into her lala land yet. Instead, she turned over to her side facing Jin and watched him with an acute stare.
It's that stare again…
Jin cleared his throat and hastily looked somewhere else, not wanting to make her feel uncomfortable. The night passed with an uneasy silence between them and a stare that didn't seem to die down.
The next day arrived and then the next day and the day after. Days passed by relatively peacefully, except the fact that the Liu men minus Jin were in a grave peril.
"My dearest adorable brother!" The twins grinned at Jin, making him scowl.
"What? Don't bother me."
"Hey don't be so rude! We just wanna talk to you," they said munching on an apple at the dining table. Jun was also present, smiling brightly at his daughter he held in his arms.
"I have nothing to talk to you about."
"But we have and it's about your…" the twins threw furtive glances left and right.
"Your wife," it wasn't the twins but Liu Hai who whispered in his ear.
"Shit, Grandpa! You scared me! Why did you approach me so creepily!"
"Because I am hiding from dear Alix," he cried. "She hates me!"
His gaze darkened. "What did you do?"
"Nothing! Nothing at all! I swear I was behaving. But for a few days, I feel these…intense stares from her, especially when I'm with Chunhua!"
"You felt that too!?" The twins gasped. "Hey it's the same for us!"
"I have felt that she is kind of drilling holes in me with her gaze," Nian sweated. His twin nodded to that.
"What does it matter?" Jing also grabbed an apple and took a bite. "You're all just overthinking. I'm more than happy to be stared at by my protege!"
"That's disgusting, Uncle," Jin glared.
Jun paused rocking his daughter in his arms and tilted his head. "Now that you say…I feel like she has been staring at Ai and me in a way I don't…quite understand. But she didn't talk to Ai about it."
"Yeah neither does Leina know anything!"
"Xing Bi too! I heard Dad mention it too when Mom was making stew the other day."
Liu Hai continued crying. "Does she hate me? Am I not everybody's super fluffy and adorable Grandpa!?"
Jin frowned. He didn't care about what the other four babbled on but if Jun was feeling the same thing, then their babble held some merit.
Liu Hai poked his shoulder. "Can you talk to her? I think something is bothering her and she hates me and I don't like it!"
"Let me see…"
—
The same night, Jin quietly climbed on the bed while occasionally observing his wife from a distance. Suddenly, her gaze landed on him and he jolted.
"*Ahem!* He coughed. "How was your day today?"
He asked the first thing that came to his mind to escape her narrowed stare.
"The same as usual. Hm, yes. I called Miss. Xie. I think I want to give it a try. Teaching."
He beamed. "That's great! You'll do amazing! I know it."
She stared at him and he swallowed a gulp. Love this story? Show support at MV2LEMPYR.
"A-Anything else that happened today?"
"Anything else? Not really. There were the kids as usual. They looked very happy at the prospect of me becoming a teacher. Ailun declared that he wants me to become his homeroom teacher."
"Hahaha, they are already booking themselves to become your students," he chuckled and then inwardly sweated. "What…else?"
"What do you mean?"
"Oh just about anything. Hope Grandpa and Uncle aren't causing you too much trouble."
"They're fine."
"The twins definitely must be bothersome. You don't have to hold back with your complaints."
"Not really," she tilted her head. "Do you want to ask me something specific?"
He coughed. "Well…"
"Yes?"
"It has come to…some people's attention that…" he felt breathless, "that they might have offended you somehow."
Alix gave him a blank look. "Offended me? Who? And why don't I know that I'm offended?"
He paused at that. "You're not angry at anybody?"
She frowned. "No. Who told you I'm angry in the first place?"
"Well…Grandpa and the others have been feeling your…intense stares for some days," he finally let it out. "So-so they have been wondering if they offended you somehow."
Alix stared at him and her lips parted in an O, the realization dawning upon her. She cursed herself that she was caught.
"It's true that I was observing the couples but I'm not angry at anybody."
So the staring part is true…
"Any…particular reason behind those…stares?"
Alix didn't immediately answer that question. Instead, now that stare landed at him, making him sweat.
"Say…Tell me the truth."
"Y-Yes?"
"You want to sleep with me, don't you?"
Jin choked so hard as if he was going to die the very next moment.
"!!! What…What?"
