Chapter 123: Goodbye To The Old Legacy

There was not a lot that needed to be done anymore, but to let the lions eat themselves.

Diane was sitting in the low lit study, watching the security feeds on her laptop.

Gabriel was beside her, his arms were crossed, his jaw was tense a little.

The plan was in, and there was no turning back now.

On the screen, Isla stormed into her father’s estate, her husband Martin trailed behind her.

Victor Frost sat in his grand office, unaware that his own daughter was about to betray him.

Gabriel exhaled, watching the scene happen. "This is it."

Diane’s lips curled into a smirk. "Let’s see how far she’s willing to go."

-Victor’s Estate – 11:45 PM-

Victor looked up from his whiskey glass as Isla slammed the door open.

His face remained neutral, but there was some small annoyance in his eyes. "Isla."

She didn’t bother with pleasantries. "How long were you planning to cut me out?"

Victor sighed, setting his drink down. "Isla, you’re being dramatic."

Martin stepped forward, his face red with frustration.

"She saw the documents, Victor. Offshore accounts, new board members—without her name on anything."

Victor exhaled, pinching the bridge of his nose. "I told you before, Isla. You were never meant to lead. You lack the control for this kind of power."

Isla’s eyes twitched. "Control?" She laughed, shaking her head. "That’s rich coming from you."

Victor leaned back in his chair, unimpressed. "If you’ve come here to whine, you can leave."

Isla took a step closer, her voice lowering. "I didn’t come here to whine."

Victor’s smirk faded. "What are you—"

Isla lunged.

She shoved Victor hard, catching him off guard. His chair slid back, the wheels screeching against the floor, and suddenly—

Victor stumbled.

His foot caught on the edge of the staircase behind his desk, and before he could grab hold of anything—

He fell.

The sound of his body colliding with each step echoed through the estate.

A loud thud followed as he landed at the bottom, unmoving.

Silence followed everything.

Martin’s breath was ragged. "What the hell did you just do?"

Isla’s chest rose and fell quickly, her hands trembling. But her face? Expressionless.

She stepped forward, looking down at her father’s body.

"He was never going to give me power," she murmured. "So I took it."

Gabriel and Diane were Watching the Feed, and couldn’t believe their own eyes.

Diane leaned back in her chair, exhaling slowly. "She actually did it."

Gabriel’s jaw tightened. "She always had it in her."

Diane reached for her phone. "Time to end this."

She dialed.

"911, what’s your emergency?"

Diane’s voice was calm. "I’d like to report an attempted murder."

Victor’s Estate was filled with the noise.

Red and blue lights flashed against the mansion’s towering walls as police stormed inside.

Isla was still standing over her father’s unconscious body when officers rushed in, guns raised.

Martin stepped forward. "It was an accident—"

"Hands where we can see them!"

Isla turned slowly, smiling through her annoyance...But it didn’t matter.

Because this time? She had lost...

The officers restrained her, pushing her against the wall.

Martin didn’t even fight. He knew it was over.

As Isla was led out in cuffs, she glanced up—and froze.

Standing near the police cars, watching her fall, was Diane.

Isla’s eyes burned with hatred, but Diane simply smirked.

And just like that—

The Frost family was finished.

But little did Diane know, that ending someone else’s family was going to end her own as well...

Diane should have felt victorious.

But hours later, as she was standing outside her father’s hospital room, victory felt hollow.

Gabriel stayed beside her, his hand rested on her lower back in quiet support.

Leon’s condition had worsened—fast.

The doctors said there was nothing left to do.

Diane clenched her fists, staring at the closed door. "I should have been here sooner."

Gabriel breathed out for longer. "Diane, you couldn’t have known."

Diane turned sharply. "I should have seen the signs. I should have—"

Her voice caught.

Gabriel reached for her, pulling her into his chest. "You did everything you could."

Diane swallowed hard, shutting her eyes. "Then why does it feel like I lost?"

Gabriel didn’t answer. Because he knew there were no words that would make this pain go away.

Leon’s breath was shallow, his skin paler than Diane had ever seen it.

She sat beside his bed, gripping his hand.

His eyes fluttered open, weak but aware.

Leon smirked faintly. "I assume... Victor is taken care of?"

Diane let out a quiet laugh. "You could say that."

Leon exhaled. "Good."

Silence wrapped everything around them, and then...His fingers tightened around hers. "Diane."

She swallowed hard. "I’m here."

His voice was softer now. "You were always going to be stronger than me."

Diane’s throat tightened. "Don’t—"

Leon sighed for a bit longer than usually, he looked like he was struggling. "Listen to me."

Diane blinked back tears. "Okay."

His lips curled slightly. "You should always know how to play the game."

Diane forced a smirk. "I learn from the best."

Leon chuckled weakly. "Don’t let them take what’s yours."

Diane’s jaw was so tight, it looked like it was going to break from the hold.

"I won’t."

Leon’s eyes softened. "I’m proud of you."

Diane’s breath hitched, she didn’t know what else to say. She had so little time with her father, and now he was rotting away like a tulip in the cold spring.

Leon’s hand went still...The monitor let out a flatline.

"N-no!!!!" Diane froze.

For a moment, everything stopped.

A rush of movement. Doctors and nurses flooded the room. Gabriel pulled her back.

Diane heard someone say, "Time of death—"

She didn’t hear the rest...Because at that moment?

Diane realised that she had just lost her father...

No!!! No!!! No!!!"

Gabriel held her strong enough not to let her fall to the ground.

"Please, Diane..."

It didn’t matter to her what Gabriel was saying, all she wanted was her father...
