Chapter 122: The Sooner-The Better
Chapter 122:
Diane walked out of the hotel with a smirk playing at her lips, her heels clicked loudly against the polished marble floor.
Hook, line, and sinker. Isla had taken the bait, and now all that was left was execution.
As she stepped outside, the cool evening air hit her skin, but she barely felt it.
Her mind was already running through the steps of the plan. Gabriel was leaning against the car, watching her carefully.
"Well?" he asked.
Diane exhaled, sliding into the passenger seat as Gabriel got in beside her. "She wants to betray her father."
Gabriel smirked. "Shocking."
Diane shot him a knowing look. "She thinks she’s playing us, but she has no idea that we’re about to bury her."
Gabriel started the car, pulling out onto the main road. "Alright, walk me through it."
Diane crossed her legs, her fingers tracing absentmindedly over the leather seat.
"Isla is desperate. She knows Victor is cutting her out, but she doesn’t have any real proof yet. So we give her some."
Gabriel arched a brow. "Fabricated?"
Diane shook her head. "No. Real."
Gabriel glanced at her. "You have something on him?"
Diane smirked. "I have everything on him."
Later That Night – Diane’s house
The apartment was lowly lit, the glow from the city skyline casting long shadows across the room.
Diane sat on the couch with her laptop open, pulling up files that she had buried deep in encrypted servers.
Gabriel stood beside her, arms crossed, watching as lines of hidden transactions and political bribes filled the screen.
"Where the hell did you get all of this?" Gabriel murmured.
Diane smirked. "I have my ways."
Gabriel leaned down, studying the records. "Victor’s been moving money through shell companies in Eastern Europe?"
Diane nodded. "And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. He’s been funneling money into private security firms, probably hiring mercenaries." She glanced at Gabriel. "The kind of people who don’t ask questions."
Gabriel’s jaw tightened. "Meaning he’s preparing for more than just business."
Diane exhaled. "Exactly. This isn’t just about power anymore. It’s about eliminating threats."
Gabriel ran a hand through his hair. "Alright. So how do we use this against Isla?"
Diane leaned back, tapping her fingers against her knee. "We leak just enough to make Isla panic. A few key pieces of information. The offshore accounts, the security firms—something she can’t ignore."
Gabriel smirked. "And then?"
Diane’s eyes gleamed. "And then we watch her run straight to Victor."
The Next Day – Leon’s Office
Diane walked into her father’s office, dropping a thick file onto his desk. Leon raised a brow, picking it up.
"What’s this?" he asked.
Diane crossed her arms. "Leverage."
Leon flipped through the pages, his expression looked suspicious. "Victor’s entire network."
Diane nodded. "And we’re going to use it."
Leon smirked, setting the file down. "And here I thought you were just going to kill him."
Diane smiled sweetly. "Oh, I still might."
Leon chuckled. "So, what’s the plan?"
Diane sat down, her eyes cold. "We let Isla do the work for us."
Leon exhaled, leaning back in his chair. "You’re going to make her expose her own father."
Diane tilted her head. "Why waste energy when she’ll do it for free?"
Leon studied her for a moment before nodding. "Alright. Let’s see how far she’s willing to fall."
That Night – The Leak
Diane sat in front of her laptop, fingers flying over the keyboard. Gabriel stood behind her, arms crossed as he watched her unleash hell.
She uploaded two documents to a carefully chosen journalist. Not enough to completely ruin Victor—just enough to cause a storm.
Hidden transactions. Foreign assets. The whispers of something bigger.
Within minutes, her phone buzzed.
A message from Isla.
-Isla: Did you see the news?-
Diane smirked, typing back.
-Diane: Of course. Interesting, isn’t it?-
-Isla: We need to meet. Now.-
Diane set her phone down, glancing up at Gabriel.
"She’s taking the bait."
Gabriel smirked. "Then let’s finish this."
The Final Move was hurried a little...
Isla was pacing when Diane arrived at the hotel suite.
Her usual polished demeanor was cracking. She was holding her phone in one hand, a half-empty glass of wine in the other.
She turned the moment Diane stepped inside. "Tell me this wasn’t you."
Diane arched a brow. "What wasn’t me?"
Isla’s eyes were wild. "The leak! The accounts! Someone is trying to take my father down!"
Diane sighed, sitting gracefully on the couch. "And what do you want me to do about it?"
Isla slammed her glass down. "I want to know if you’re with me or against me."
Diane leaned back, crossing her legs. "That depends. What exactly are you planning to do?"
Isla ran a hand through her hair, pacing again. "I need proof that my father is planning to cut me out. If I can get ahead of this, I can take control before he buries me."
Diane tilted her head. "And if he is planning to cut you out?"
Isla’s voice was cold. "Then I’ll make sure he never gets the chance."
Diane smirked.
Perfect.
Ending the Plan
Later that night, Diane sat across from Gabriel in their house, a glass of whiskey in her hand.
"It’s done," she murmured.
Gabriel smirked. "She took the bait?"
Diane nodded. "She’s going to dig. Hard. And when she finds exactly what we want her to find?"
Gabriel leaned back. "She’ll turn against Victor herself."
Diane sipped her drink, her smirk never fading. "And when she does?"
Gabriel exhaled, his voice dark. "We make sure they both go down."
Diane clinked her glass against his.
The game was finally set.
And they were about to win.
"Don’t you feel bad about your father by the way?" Diane asked him suddenly.
This made Gabriel’s throat tighten, he wasn’t sure why she asked that out of nowhere.
"No..." He finally answered. "He belittled you, he allowed you to be sold to me like some prize, he cheated on my mom and made her leave us. No..."
Diane looked into his eyes, "I’m sorry...I didn’t know..."
"The sooner they both are gone, the better..."
