Chapter 501: Chapter 503 I Love You

The man in the black robe came out of the room, his expression returning to its usual calmness. On seeing the person waiting, he asked, "Why aren’t you leaving?"

"Leaving? To where?" Shao He was confused by his words.

"Why aren’t you escaping?"

Shao He chuckled lightly, "On your turf, how could I escape? Besides, I would not abandon Pei Huaian to flee alone."

"You two really have a love stronger than gold. It’s just that I wonder if your affection can endure forever, considering men often prove unfaithful, not to mention he might very well become an emperor in the future."

"Yes, the matters of love are indeed hard to predict, and changing hearts is common, but at least for now, we are in love with each other, seeing only each other."

Shao He didn’t want to think about the future; it was still too distant. It was better to focus on the present, even if it meant savoring just a moment of tenderness.

The man in the black robe looked up at her, his eyes showing a strange expression, then turned away and said, "Let’s go."

Shao He didn’t even ask where; she simply followed him.

When Pei Huaian saw her return safely, he immediately grabbed her shoulders and asked, "Are you alright? Where did he take you?"

"I’m fine," Shao He replied with a smile, shaking her head.

The man in the black robe didn’t say another word and walked directly out of the courtyard, followed closely by two other guards.

An Shi remarked, "Doctor Shao should still be cautious.

"Our master and I have had our inner strength sealed. While we have more than enough to protect ourselves, protecting Doctor Shao might be beyond our capabilities."

"Shut up!" Pei Huaian didn’t want Shao He to worry and shot An Shi a fierce glance.

Shao He hastily checked his pulse, discovering toxins in his body that suppressed his inner strength. Though it wasn’t lethal, over time, it would surely damage his health.

"I’m alright. It’s just my inner strength that’s sealed, no big deal," Pei Huaian reassured her, holding her hand.

Shao He, with a grave look, said, "Are you the doctor, or am I? How could you hide such a serious matter from me? What if something had happened to you?"

At that, Shao He pulled away from his grasp and sat down on a chair, huffing in irritation.

An Shi quietly left the room, leaving the two alone.

Seeing her upset, Pei Huaian immediately tried to appease her, saying, "Don’t be angry. Look, I’m fine, aren’t I?"

"Fine? You call this fine?" Shao He glared at him. "What if something had happened? What then?"

Pei Huaian fell silent; he wasn’t sure himself if he would be alright, considering everything had surpassed his expectations. He hadn’t anticipated the man in the black robe would seal both their inner strengths and couldn’t figure out why.

"Forget it. Just take this pill quickly, or your body won’t stand a chance."

Shao He put a medicine pill into his mouth and then helped him lie down to rest. She went on to prepare the ingredients for his medicine, also arranging some detoxifying herbal meals.

"Shao He..." Pei Huaian suddenly grabbed her hand, pulling her to sit down.

"What is it?"

"Once we get back to the Capital City, let’s get married," Pei Huaian, holding her hand to his lips and kissing it, looked at her with intense eyes.

He desperately wanted to marry her, to grow old together, and to share a lifetime with her.

"Okay."

Having been through so much, Shao He had also come to understand what her heart desired. Since they were in love, why worry about the future? For now, their love was genuine and free from any ulterior motives.

At her words, Pei Huaian showed a warm smile and embraced her, using all his tenderness.

Shao He pushed him slightly, "Let me go."

"Just let me hold you for a while." Pei Huaian closed his eyes, savoring her fragrance, feeling as though everything was too ephemeral.

Shao He, seeing his weary appearance, felt a pang of heartache and couldn’t help but stroke his cheek.

Pei Huaian, sensing her touch, opened his eyes and pulled her into his arms, "Come lie down with me for a while."

"Okay." Shao He agreed, resting against his chest and listening to his strong heartbeat, feeling exceptionally content.

The two embraced silently, feeling incredibly secure together.

"Huaian, I love you," Shao He suddenly said.

Pei Huaian opened his eyes, looking earnestly into hers, and cupped her face to kiss the corner of her mouth.

Shao He held tight to his lean waist, passionately returning his kiss.

After a long while, they parted.

Shao He’s lips, moist and radiant as if a blossoming flower, tempted Pei Huaian so much that he couldn’t resist and bent down again to peck her enticing, pink lips.

Shao He tilted her head back, allowing him to claim her lips. This playful, delightful side of Pei Huaian made her happy, unwilling to leave.

After a long time, he finally released her, forehead against hers, his voice hoarse, "Shao He, I can’t wait to marry you and take you home."

Shao He smiled, tiptoeing to kiss his lips, "Okay, I’ll be waiting."

Pei Huaian held her even tighter, wishing he could meld her into himself, to become one.

"Alright, it’s getting late, and we need to rid your body of the toxins. I’ll go prepare the medicine."

Pei Huaian nodded, letting her go.

Shao He straightened her clothes and went to the kitchen to cook porridge and prepare the medicine.

The fragrance of the medicine wafted through the air. Shao He, carrying the tray, opened the room and invited An Shi to join in the meal.

After having their evening meal, they began to rest. Shao He lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep; her mind was filled with the face she had admired so much during the day.
