Chapter 500 - 502: Follow the Rules Here
Chapter 500: Chapter 502: Follow the Rules Here
Shao He thought of the creatures inside his body and said, "Does that mean the man in the black robe is also from the Witch tribe?"
"Yes, but the Witch tribe has its own rules that prohibit them from going out and harming others on their own."
Pei Huaian was also very curious about how the man in the black robe had managed to leave and why he could conceal his actions from everyone outside.
Shao He also felt the situation was complex; all they could do now was wait.
In the evening, the man in the black robe came back carrying food.
After Pei Huaian and An Shi confirmed it was not poisoned, the three of them began to eat.
After the meal, the man in the black robe suddenly said to Shao He, "Come with me."
Pei Huaian wanted to follow, but was stopped. "You stay here."
"No way." Pei Huaian grabbed Shao He’s wrist, refusing to let her leave alone.
The corner of the man in the black robe’s mouth curled up slightly in disdain as he looked at Pei Huaian, "Since you chose to come here, you must abide by my rules."
After speaking, he pushed Pei Huaian away with one palm. An Shi tried to step forward to help, but found that his inner strength was gone.
Pei Huaian also sensed something was wrong and said sternly, "Did you tamper with this food?"
"From the moment you set foot here, your inner strength has been suppressed."
Shao He suddenly remembered the Mist Barrier they encountered as soon as they entered the valley.
"Was it that mist?"
The man in the black robe looked at Shao He with an appreciative glance, "I like dealing with smart people."
Shao He took a step back, "With such plotting at every step, you clearly have no sincerity for cooperation."
"No, the fact that you are alive and here is my greatest sincerity," the man in the black robe said with a smile.
If it were before, outsiders would never be allowed into the Witch tribe; he had already made an exception by letting them live.
"What exactly do you want to do?" Shao He was increasingly unable to understand the man in the black robe.
If initially he was here to save his beloved, since arriving here, he had never seen the woman again.
"Come with me and you will know. If you want to leave sooner, come alone," the man in the black robe turned and left.
After a long hesitation, Shao He turned to Pei Huaian and said, "Wait for me here."
Pei Huaian was worried, but since they had no other options, he could only watch with concern as Shao He left.
Since Shao He had left, Pei Huaian had been standing outside the door waiting, like a stone longing for its mate.
"Master, have some tea," An Shi said, offering the brewed tea.
Pei Huaian took it and drank in one gulp, then handed back the tea cup.
"Master, do you want to rest a bit?" An Shi suggested kindly, only to receive a cold look.
As time passed by the minute, Shao He still did not return, and as the light of day began to fade, Pei Huaian grew increasingly restless.
He quickly walked outside, intending to find Shao He, but at the doorway, he was stopped by two men in black robes.
"The Great Elder commands, without his order, you may not go anywhere," the guard said coldly.
After a long silence, Pei Huaian said, "I need to find someone."
"You cannot go," the guard shook his head.
"Do you know where she is?"
"I do not know."
Pei Huaian tried to force his way through, but ultimately was forced to retreat.
Elsewhere, Shao He was in a cold cave, watching a beautiful young man lying on a stone bed. She walked over to the bed, sat down, and quietly gazed at the man lying there.
"What’s wrong with him?"
"He is our Clan Leader of the Witch tribe, gravely injured. Whether he will still have a chance to live?"
Shao He reached out to check his pulse and found that unlike the woman, this man had a very strong and stable pulse, without any signs of illness.
"I need to perform a further examination on him."
"He cannot go to Capital City."
"I do not need him to go to Capital City, but I need a spacious room to set up an operating room."
The man in the black robe did not understand what an operating room was, but thought it would be easy to arrange such a room.
"Alright, I will instruct someone to prepare it for you. Do you have any other needs?"
"Not at the moment," Shao He did not know the cause of the man’s coma and needed to perform a further examination.
On the way back, unable to contain his curiosity, the man in black robe asked, "What are his chances of being cured?"
"It is still unclear," Shao He replied.
Unable to determine the illness yet, she couldn’t conclude.
The man in black robe fell silent, then Shao He suddenly asked, "How is the woman?"
"I was about to take you to see why she is still in a coma after so long."
As they talked, they arrived at the courtyard where the man in the black robe lived, which was different from their own accommodations.
They were staying in a mere annex, whereas this place had lofts.
Shao He stepped into the room and examined the woman, "This shouldn’t be."
"What’s wrong?" the man in the black robe hurried over to ask when he heard her muttering to herself.
Shao He expressed her doubts, "Logically, she should have awoken by now, yet she remains in a deep coma, as if she herself does not wish to wake."
"How could that be, could it be that she does not wish to see me, thus prefers to remain unconscious?" the man in the black robe struggled to accept this, unable to understand why the woman would despise him so.
He staggered to the woman’s side, his eyes filled with a sorrowful expression, while Shao He sighed and left the room.
