Chapter 448: Chapter 450: Two People Join Forces
Pei Huaian ground his teeth and asked, "I wonder where the Imperial Uncle’s beloved is?"
"Far in the ends of the earth, close before your eyes!" Pei Hanze provocatively curled his lips at him.
"Oh?" Pei Huaian narrowed his eyes and sneered, "Then why doesn’t the Imperial Uncle try and see for himself?"
With that, he leaped forward and attacked Pei Hanze, his moves fierce and venomous.
Pei Hanze moved swiftly, exchanging several blows with him, and surprisingly, he gained the upper hand without falling behind.
Shao He stood still, her heartbeat racing as she nervously watched their duel.
Although they weren’t using their Inner Strength, the sound of fists smashing into tree trunks or rocks with loud thuds made her shudder in fear, worried they might hurt themselves inadvertently.
Several times, Shao He wanted to remind them to stop fighting, that they might better save their energy to fight their enemies instead.
But she didn’t dare act rashly because she always felt there was someone lurking around, and she also believed that Pei Huaian, despite his anger, wouldn’t actually strike Pei Hanze.
There must be something she didn’t know; an interruption might ruin Pei Huaian’s plans, so she tried to minimize her presence as much as possible, quietly observing her surroundings.
Suddenly, a shadow darted from the side, launching an attack at them.
Shao He’s pupils shrank, and her heart shook violently as she shouted to the two men, "Watch out!"
Her voice was drowned out by the dense noise of the fight.
When Shao He thought they were about to be both injured, Pei Huaian finally unleashed a spinning kick, landing it on the shadowy figure.
The figure was kicked away, crashing against a tree not far away.
"Hiss~"
A faint hissing sound arose, causing the two fighting men to cease their assault and turn to look at the tree together.
"Thud, thud!"
The shadow slipped down from the tree slowly and eventually fell to the ground, spitting out fresh blood.
Seeing this, a bloodthirsty smile appeared on the corner of Pei Hanze’s mouth, and he walked over unhurriedly.
"Imperial Uncle, no need for courtesy, send him off," Pei Huaian said indifferently.
Pei Hanze snorted and with a swing of his hand, struck the man in black.
The man’s face showed an expression of painful struggle before he ultimately succumbed.
"Let’s go, let’s head back," said Pei Hanze, disposing of the bothersome fellow and grabbing Shao He’s wrist.
Shao He froze for a second, then quickly shook off his hold and glared at him, on guard.
Pei Huaian’s gaze swept over her wrist, a trace of ambiguous emotion flashing in his eyes.
He looked down and concealed the emotion in his eyes, his thin lips parting lightly, "Thank you for tonight, Imperial Uncle."
Having said this, he hurriedly left with Shao He.
Pei Hanze watched the two leave, his mouth curling into a cold smirk.
"One day, you will belong to me," he murmured.
Pei Hanze glanced back and then strode away.
After they had left, a man wearing a mask emerged.
The guard behind him couldn’t help asking, "Master, why go through such an elaborate scheme to lure them all here?"
"Two men vying for one woman, such an entertaining play, how could we not stoke the flames?" the masked man said, hands behind his back, face tilted upwards.
"We’ve lost so many men just to add some hatred between them?" The guard asked, somewhat shocked.
Lest he forget, they had suffered heavy losses, with five Dead Warriors perishing.
"What do you understand?" The masked man glanced at him sideways and continued, "If those two were to cooperate, it would be far too dangerous for us. Only by making them constrain each other can we achieve victory."
"It’s just a few Dead Warriors. If their deaths can be exchanged for greater benefits, then they’ve died worthily," the masked man said, his lips curled in a smile, his gaze profound as he looked into the distance.
His gaze settled in a certain direction, as if contemplating something.
The guard behind him was shocked by these words and hung his head, lost in thought.
Pei Huaian led Shao He back to the residence, and Ah Mo let out a sigh of relief upon seeing that they had safely returned.
An Jiu and An Shi’s gazes constantly scrutinized the woman beside Pei Huaian.
So this was the lady their master was fond of? She seemed unremarkable and not extraordinarily beautiful, merely fresh and refined.
"Not that impressive, eh?" An Jiu murmured to herself, feeling rather displeased.
How could such a woman be worthy of their master?
As soon as she spoke, An Shi, who was next to her, nervously pulled her aside, making sure their master hadn’t overheard, then warned in a stern voice, "It looks like you’ve forgotten the pain once the wound healed!"
An Jiu shook off his hand, defiantly responding, "Isn’t it true?"
"Even Ru Meng is better than her!"
"You..." An Shi was at a loss for words, infuriated by her.
Ah Mo said coldly, "It’s too bad that the master likes Doctor Shao; to be with Doctor Shao, the master has paid too great a price!"
These words made them both turn to look at him, and An Jiu pursed her lips, saying, "What a seductress."
"If you want to continue staying by the master’s side, you’d better show some respect to Doctor Shao; otherwise..."
Ah Mo didn’t finish his sentence, but An Jiu surely understood what was implied.
Back in the room, Shao He was about to explain the events that had just transpired when she suddenly found herself under the intense gaze of Pei Huaian, his fervent eyes as if intending to devour her.
"Calm down a bit first," she said.
"Shao He," Pei Huaian spoke in a hoarse voice.
His voice sent a shiver through Shao He, and her cheeks flushed involuntarily.
