Reborn As Divine Doctor to Rule the World
Chapter 431 - 433: Disappearance

Chapter 431: Chapter 433: Disappearance

Pei Huaian finally had a moment of clarity and was shocked as he looked at his own hands and then at Shao He before hurriedly running out.

"Master!" When Ah Mo ran out, Pei Huaian’s figure had already vanished.

Despite the pain in her neck, Shao He immediately ordered Ah Mo to search for him covertly and not ostentatiously, to prevent giving others a chance to exploit the situation.

"Yes." Ah Mo gathered people to search for him in every corner of the Capital City.

By the following morning, they still had not found him, and Shao He could not help but feel worried.

Perhaps prompted by some rumors he heard, Pei Chengye suddenly came to visit.

"What, what should we do?" Ah Mo said somewhat anxiously.

"Obstruct the soldier with a general and stem the water with earth; I’ll go and stall Pei Chengye," Shao He calmly said.

In the front hall, Pei Chengye was sipping tea when he saw the approaching figure, his eyes showing a hint of surprise.

"Doctor Shao, why are you here?"

Shao He smiled and explained, "Why can’t I be here?"

Pei Chengye narrowed his eyes slightly, sensing something was amiss, and asked with the tea cup still in his hand, "Do you know where my younger brother is?"

"The Fifth Prince is currently not available to receive guests, I hope the Second Prince can forgive this," Shao He replied calmly.

This statement made Pei Chengye abruptly slam the table and say to her, "Don’t tell me that you, who are not yet the Prince’s Consort, and even if you really become the Prince’s Consort one day, it’s still not your place to speak here!"

After speaking, he turned his gaze to Ah Mo, "Where is your master? Has something happened to him?"

"The Second Prince need not be so agitated, as all matters of the house are now in the hands of Doctor Shao," Ah Mo replied with a bow.

Pei Chengye was even more certain in his heart that something must have happened to Pei Huaian, and if that was indeed the case, it would undoubtedly present a good opportunity for him.

"If I do not see my younger brother today, this prince will not leave," Pei Chengye declared, resuming his seat with an obstinate air.

Ah Mo felt a surge of panic, as the Second Prince staying here made their actions inconvenient and it was inevitable that he would discover something amiss.

Shao He unflustered, said, "Very well, servant, serve some pastries to the Second Prince."

After speaking, she slightly bent forward and said, "There are still many matters to be dealt with in this house, and I regret that I cannot entertain you further."

Pei Chengye could only watch helplessly as she left, Ah Mo bowing and following her.

"Doctor Shao, what should we do?" Ah Mo said, somewhat worried.

"One Pei Chengye is not to be feared; he doesn’t have the mind for anything," Shao He stated assuredly.

However, if others came to know of this, suspicions may arise, and it might become difficult to conceal the matter.

Should Pei Huaian’s mania become known to the public, it will undoubtedly be used by others to bring him down,

but finding a person in the vast Capital City is akin to searching for a needle in a haystack, unless...

Shao He raised her head and looked towards the distant horizon.

"Your Highness, Your Highness..." a man in black called out anxiously.

In the room, a pair of jet-black eyes slowly opened, deep and dark as if they belonged to a demon from Hell.

"Your Highness, I deserve to die!" the kneeling man in black said, full of guilt.

"Have you found it?" Pei Huaian’s icy voice sounded, thick with gloom and ferocity.

"I am incompetent, I have not yet found what the master seeks," came the reply.

Pei Huaian sat up from his couch, straightening his disheveled robe, and put on a coat hanging on the screen.

He stood by the window, looking into the distance, his gaze filled with blood, carnage, and hatred, his lips pressed tightly together as if containing immense fury.

His eyes flickered with crimson flames, like those of a bloodthirsty beast, chilling to the bone.

After a long time, he withdrew his gaze and said to the person at his feet, "Have someone keep a close watch on Pei Chengye."

"Yes."

After the man in black respectfully withdrew, Pei Huaian’s expression gradually returned to calm, a hint of chill flashing through his eyes.

Having eaten and drunk his fill, Pei Chengye aimlessly wandered around the residence, unconcerned with being watched from the shadows.

Eventually unable to stay, he was forced to leave, angrily saying, "I will come again tomorrow."

Having said that, he left swishing his sleeves.

Ah Mo breathed a sigh of relief, yet he began to worry about how they would cope tomorrow.

Shao He also felt anxious; although Pei Chengye was not the sharpest, if someone else gave him strategic advice, it would be a different matter.

After thinking it over, Shao He decided to go to the imperial palace to inform the Emperor about the situation.

Within the imperial palace, upon hearing the news, the Emperor felt a pang of remorse and felt even more responsible for Pei Huaian’s plight.

"How could this happen?"

"Your Majesty need not worry so much; the mania does not often erupt, and it can be controlled with proper management of emotions," Shao He said comfortingly.

The Emperor exhaled, "This matter must not be known to others, as the implications are severe."

"This commoner understands. But now, with the Fifth Prince missing and the Second Prince frequently probing our residence, I had no choice but to seek Your Majesty’s help," Shao He sincerely said.

"I understand, you may go back, and I will order people to find Huaian as soon as possible," the Emperor sighed.

"Thank you, Your Majesty."

After leaving the Imperial Study Room, Shao He did not leave the imperial palace but went towards the Imperial Medical Bureau.

She needed to collect several rare medicinal herbs, available only in the bureau within the palace.

Not far along, Shao He felt as if there were eyes watching her from the shadows.
