Chapter 430: Chapter 432: Manic Syndrome

Manic Episode

Pei Huaian closed his eyes, then looked down at the person before him. "Why haven’t you left yet?"

"I wanted to see you." Shao He stood with her hands clasped behind her back, tilting her face up to him with a smile.

Pei Huaian’s hands clenched tightly, his veins bulging as he struggled with all his might to suppress the raging emotions inside him.

"Leave!" His thin lips slightly parted as he spat out the command coldly.

Turning around, the irritation in his heart grew increasingly uncontrollable. He was afraid of Shao He seeing him like this.

"Leave? Why should I leave?" Shao He’s lips curled upwards as she slowly approached Pei Huaian.

She extended her delicate index finger, hooking it around Pei Huaian’s neck and then laid her head on his shoulder. "Huaian."

The warm breath on his ear was tickling, causing Pei Huaian to stiffen all over.

He raised his eyes to Shao He, but met her clear gaze, and his heartbeat accelerated.

Her eyes slightly narrowed, a faint smile hanging on her lips, as if she wasn’t the one who had just spoken.

"You go out first and wait for me." Pei Huaian’s manic state seemed to have calmed down a bit.

He spoke evenly, as if mentioning how nice the weather was today, without a trace of fluctuation.

After hearing this, Shao He grabbed the front of his shirt and shouted angrily, "Do you still remember what you promised me? Didn’t we agree to face things together? What does this secrecy count for now?"

Pei Huaian looked at her face, his own expression turning fierce, a flash of pain crossing the depths of his eyes and then vanishing.

"Let go!" he roared lowly, crossing his arms in front of his chest to block Shao He, who was leaning on him.

Shao He shook her head, refusing to let go at any cost.

Their eyes locked, neither yielding, until Pei Huaian eventually admitted defeat, a struggle and hesitation flickered through his deep black pupils.

At last, he compromised.

"Fine." His hoarse voice burst through the gaps of his teeth, his eyes filled with despair like a cornered beast, emanating a destructive force.

He seized Shao He and kissed her fiercely, not a tender kiss but more like a wild beast’s savage bite.

Not until Shao He tasted the rich flavor of blood in her mouth did she finally come to her senses, staring wide-eyed at the man so close to her.

Pei Huaian also froze, seeing Shao He’s bewildered expression. He suddenly realized something, quickly pushing away the person before him, and stood at a distance from her.

"I’m sorry..." he said with difficulty.

At that moment, he was like a child who had done something wrong, his head down, not daring to meet her eyes.

As Shao He gazed at his reddened eyes, she didn’t understand what Pei Huaian had been through to choose such violent means to vent his inner rage.

She pursed her lips, reached out to wipe the blood from the corner of her mouth, and said with a forced smile, "It’s okay, I don’t mind."

Upon hearing this, a pang of pain shot through Pei Huaian’s heart, as though it was being stabbed relentlessly with a knife, causing his flesh and blood to churn.

A sense of inexplicable panic rose in his heart, as if something had already moved far away from him.

The emotions Pei Huaian had been suppressing surged back to his heart. He clenched his fists tightly and slammed his hand against the wall behind him hard.

A dull thud sounded, accompanied by the fine sweat breaking out on Pei Huaian’s forehead.

Seeing him try to endure the pain, Shao He’s heart ached and sorrow welled up. "Huaian..."

She wanted to reach out and touch Pei Huaian but then stopped herself.

She looked into Pei Huaian’s eyes, filled with murderous intent, hatred, and even guilt.

Her hand trembled in mid-air for a moment before she drew it back and carefully asked, "Huaian, stay calm, don’t get agitated."

She truly didn’t know how to face him as he was now; he was in so much pain, clearly unwilling, yet unable to control his inner emotions.

Manic Episode — this disease, it is like a lurking demon, irreversible once it breaks out, unless it subsides on its own.

"I can’t calm down, go away, just leave!" Pei Huaian finally burst out angrily after a long silence.

As his words fell, he squatted down, burying his face into his knees, his entire being radiating an air of defeat.

Pei Huaian’s figure was gaunt, nearly to the point of fragility; the dimness of the study made him appear even more shadowed. He curled up, as if he were a delicate flower, at the risk of withering at the slightest touch.

Seeing this, tears streamed down Shao He’s face. She flung herself into Pei Huaian’s arms, wrapped her arms tightly around his waist, and sobbed, "Huaian, don’t scare me."

Her voice was so soft, as if afraid to disturb him.

Suddenly, Pei Huaian grabbed her neck, and said in a sinister voice, "Get out, I don’t want to see you!"

As Shao He was choked, her eyes widened in shock at him, struggling to break free but unable to.

"Cough, cough..." She coughed violently, her cheeks flushed, looking as if she was about to suffocate.

Just then, a figure burst in from outside the door, "Master, come to your senses, she is Doctor Shao!"

Pei Huaian’s chest heaved tumultuously, his bloodshot eyes fixed on Shao He’s face.

A silver needle silently appeared in Shao He’s hand, just as she was ready to thrust it at Pei Huaian, the fresh air bombarded her senses.
