Reborn As Divine Doctor to Rule the World
Chapter 361 - 362: Knowing the Secret

Chapter 361: Chapter 362: Knowing the Secret

Shao He hurriedly spoke to mediate, "Everyone has their own opinions, there is no need to come to blows over such a trifling matter. Moreover, everyone has their own views about what’s good or bad."

Unfortunately, her words had no effect at all. The owner of the Sky Fragrant Pavilion was on the verge of tears, and the waiter kept trying to mediate, but was pushed out by the crowd.

Pei Huaian leaped down from the second floor, using his inner strength to separate the two groups.

He glanced over the crowd with a lift of his eyes and said coldly, "She has once treated The Emperor, and has been specially conferred by The Emperor as the Divine Doctor, while also being an Imperial Physician at the Imperial Medical Bureau. By questioning her like this, are you questioning The Emperor himself?"

His voice was icy and bone-chilling, causing the temperature around to plummet instantly. Hearing him say this, everyone fell silent, not daring to say another word.

Shao He came down from the upstairs and quietly gave him a thumbs up.

The teahouse owner immediately thanked them and added, "Today’s tea on the house for the two of you."

Pei Huaian nodded slightly in acknowledgment and turned to leave with Shao He in tow.

After leaving the Sky Fragrant Pavilion, Shao He spoke with great certainty, "The incident from a few days ago has spread today; there must be someone behind it. If I’m not wrong, there must be a spy from General Qi’s Mansion, likely a move by the Empress, but what is her purpose in doing this?"

"I will have someone look into this, no need for you to worry," Pei Huaian also sensed that something was amiss.

Such rumors did not affect Shao He’s interest in roaming about, since it was rare for them to come out.

"I heard that a new restaurant has opened in Capital City, said to have a very unique taste. I’ll take you to try it," Pei Huaian said, looking at her.

"Sure," Shao He nodded in agreement.

The two went to the restaurant, where the waiter greeted them with a smile, "What would the two patrons like to have?"

"Do you have private rooms here?"

"Of course, please follow me," the waiter said, leading them to the private rooms on the second floor. A woman hurried down from the restaurant and, in her rush, accidentally bumped into Shao He.

Pei Huaian caught Shao He’s waist just in time to prevent her from tumbling down the stairs.

The woman immediately apologized, "Sorry."

After uttering that apology, she hurried away, but Shao He stared at her face, her eyebrows furrowing as if she recalled something.

"Are you alright?" Pei Huaian asked the person in his arms.

Before Shao He could respond, she saw a man passing by them, appearing to chase after the woman who had just left.

"Xia Zhaoshun, how come it’s him?" Pei Huaian recognized him at a glance. This man, Xia Zhaoshun, had just returned to the Capital to report on his duties, but why was he here?

Shao He was unable to come back to her senses for a long time, not even aware of how she ended up in the private room.

Pei Huaian waved his hand in front of her eyes and teased, "You weren’t scared witless, were you?"

Shao He knocked his hand away, saying seriously, "I recognized the woman just now; I remember helping her with childbirth a few days ago."

"Are you sure you helped her with childbirth?" Pei Huaian asked, surprised.

"Yes, I’m very sure," Shao He said with certainty.

"Do you know who she is?"

Shao He shook her head; she only knew it was likely a mistress from a wealthy family.

"That woman’s name is Jiang Zhou. She has been looking after her elders at home and delayed her marriage. Instead, it was a concubine from the Jiang Family who had a child, and the one you helped with childbirth was probably the concubine from the Jiang Family."

Shao He disagreed, "Impossible; I clearly remember her face, and it was that woman."

"I never said the person you helped was not her; it’s just that her identity differs. In the eyes of outsiders, she’s an unmarried daughter of the Jiang Family, but in your eyes, she’s someone who has given birth."

With this explanation from Pei Huaian, Shao He quickly understood and said in amazement, "Is it possible to conceal such a thing?"

Pei Huaian said with a smile, "The people of the Jiang Family all have honeyed words, but the hearts of snakes and scorpions, seemingly gentle and humble on the surface while harboring malicious intentions."

Hearing this, Shao He felt a chill in her heart, realizing she had not been silenced by the Jiang Family, probably because of The Emperor and Pei Huaian. Although they have malicious intentions, they didn’t want to escalate the situation. If something were to happen to her, The Emperor and Pei Huaian would not let the Jiang Family off, and would certainly investigate thoroughly, only making things worse.

She suddenly thought of the name that Pei Huaian had blurted out and couldn’t help but ask in surprise, "Jiang Zhou and Xia Zhaoshun appeared here at the same time, and they left one after the other, what is their relationship?"

"What do you think?" Pei Huaian’s lips curved slightly.

Shao He pondered, chin resting on her hand, thinking about the kinds of relationships that could exist between a man and a woman.

Pei Huaian beckoned her with his finger, and Shao He hesitated for a moment, but her curiosity got the better of her and she leaned in.

"Their relationship is not simple. Jiang Zhou likes Xia Zhaoshun, and the two have been secretly in touch. However, this matter is very secretive, hardly known by anyone."

Hearing this, Shao He’s eyes gradually widened, a bold idea forming in her mind. She looked up at the person in front of her, "Then, isn’t Jiang Zhou’s child Xia Zhaoshun’s?"

"What’s more interesting is that Jiang Zhou is the candidate for the Second Prince’s Consort that The Emperor and the Empress Dowager had decided upon, originally intended to be announced at the time of the Crown Prince’s investiture. But the investiture of the Crown Prince kept being postponed, and thus the matter was shelved."

Pei Huaian was very curious to know the reactions of the Empress and Pei Chengye if they found out that this designated Prince’s Consort, not only had been intimate with another man, but also had a child!
