Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress -
Chapter 987: Catching Troublemakers
Chapter 987: Chapter 987: Catching Troublemakers
With Arabella and Count Cordelia parting the two, the banquet proceeded smoothly.
After the banquet, Arabella stayed in one of the receiving rooms in the castle with Alwin, waiting for news from Ferdinand.
"You’ll have all the time to speak with him when he has some free time in the Imperial Palace," Arabella sighed as he reminded Alwin.
"I know. I will do that. I was just planning to converse with him a bit, but he had insightful questions, so I ended up answering in detail," Alwin defended himself.
Thankfully, when they were at the banquet and he noticed what Arabella and Count Cordelia were doing, he stopped speaking with Ivan so everyone could continue eating and conversing at ease.
Arabella and Alwin both did some paperwork while waiting for news.
After three hours...
"They’re here!"
Arabella and Alwin’s eyes met when they felt Ferdinand’s presence in the castle.
"He must have teleported with Zion," Alwin said and stood up, offering his hand to Arabella to help her up.
They then headed to where Ferdinand was to greet him.
It was at the front of the castle inside the gates.
Ferdinand teleported with Zion indeed, along with all people involved in the rebellion they caught.
It was a success.
They caught everyone, including Eugene Hamel and the people he manipulated to believe were leading the rebellion.
"My Empress," Ferdinand said upon seeing her. He kissed the back of her hand regardless of everyone watching.
"Your Majesty," Arabella smiled.
{I’m glad it was a success. Were there any issues?}
She talked to him telepathically through their ring.
{None at all. Thanks to you.}
They were not able to talk more since Marquess Sibruh arrived clearly in a hurry after he received a notice.
"Greetings to Your Imperial Majesty!" Marquess Sibruh said.
The Marquess glanced at the people Ferdinand’s knights were surrounding.
He was wide-eyed in surprise and confusion when he saw Eugene Hamel and other nobles among the prisoners.
[What exactly happened?! Why is someone from the Hamel household and other nobles captured too?!]
"Imprison these people.
They are former villagers from the illegal mine in the Rocky Hills and fellow rebels of the ones we caught last time they attacked.
They are led by Eugene Hamel and these nobles in causing the rebellion.
We heard from their meeting that they were planning on staging another attack after lying low for a bit.
All the necessary evidence is complete," Ferdinand explained.
Zion handed the Marquess a stack of documents and a magic orb with the records of nobles’ meeting with Eugene Hamel and his meeting with the rebels.
"Eugene Hamel and these nobles worked together in misleading villagers and everyone else about the truth of the mine..." Zion gave the rest of the explanations and instructions to the Sibruh family and the knights who were present.
Ferdinand had scheduled to apprehend Eugene Hamel and the nobles today since they had a scheduled meeting together. They got a record of their meeting before apprehending them once they had recorded enough proof of their involvement.
As for the former villagers of the illegal mine who were part of the rebels, they were apprehended while receiving weapons and food supplies from Eugene Hamel’s men.
Thus, they could not deny their connection. Especially since there was also the record of their meeting from when Arabella and Alwin saw them.
All the necessary proof was also gathered, including Eugene Hamel’s purchases of weapons from months ago, before the plant disease and pest infestation happened.
"...As for Eugene Hamel and these nobles, we will imprison them in the Magic Tower where escape is not possible," Zion concluded after giving a long explanation to Marquess Sibruh and the knights who gathered after seeing the commotion.
They did not leave the nobles here since the family members might send people to help them escape while they barrage the Marquess with complaints and accusations for imprisoning one of their family members.
With the recent mistake of the former Marquess Sibruh, the Household doesn’t have strong control among the nobles.
Thus, it was better for the noble prisoners to be sent to the Magic Tower prisons, where their families could not free them.
As the Marquess’ knights approached the prisoners, the men glared at Eugene Hamel and the nobles.
Arabella had asked Ferdinand to expose Eugene Hamel’s plots so they would know they were only being used by Eugene. With the death glares they were giving, it was clear Ferdinand had informed them of Eugene’s plots.
This was a necessary move so that once they are freed, these people will not hate on the Imperial Family or continue to plot rebellion in the future.
Some of Ferdinand’s knights went with the Sibruh knights to send their captives to prison.
"Prepare a hall for a meeting. We have summoned the family members of these nobles," Ferdinand instructed.
"Yes, Your Majesty," Marquess Sibruh replied and immediately sent their butler to prepare a meeting hall.
Meanwhile, Eugene Hamel and his noble comrades were temporarily sent to the Magic Tower.
With the prisoners gone, Ferdinand focused on Arabella.
"How was the banquet with the researchers?" Ferdinand inquired.
"It went well, Your Majesty. The researchers have rested and were quite lively during the banquet..." Arabella gave him a short update about how the banquet went.
"I see. That’s good, then. You should return to the Palace. I’ll be there shortly after I deal with this," Ferdinand said.
He removed one hand glove so he could touch her face. He was particular about cleanliness when it came to these matters.
Marquess Sibruh and the knights looked away and pretended as if they did not exist. However, they did not dare leave yet either, since their next order might be given soon.
{Can’t I stay with you? I’d like to see what their families would do after hearing about this. Eugene’s family knew about what he was doing but did not stop him.}
Arabella spoke with him telepathically.
{Are you sure you want to keep working? You can return to the palace and rest instead.}
Ferdinand knew her ability would be useful, but he was worried she was already tired.
