Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress -
Chapter 768: Strange Request
Chapter 768: Chapter 768: Strange Request
Arabella knew he was right since there was no way Alwin and the others would have missed the location if it was something that could be found through magic.
[They must have had His Majesty’s capable mage search all over Crux since he could teleport so quickly.]
Princess Seraphina gulped at the thought, immensely relieved that they had chosen to be integrated with Valeria instead of unnecessarily fighting them.
[They must have searched the entire kingdom as well. Perhaps, the rumor that they had a lot of magicians is also true?]
Prince Sebastian’s eyes scanned the room wondering if any of the people inside were magicians aside from Riley.
[It is indeed good that we have allied ourselves with Valeria through this agreement. If we didn’t we would only suffer their wrath.]
Duke Alba figured that Valeria must have already sent people to infiltrate their kingdom and search for the Prudencians and was relieved they had chosen to be with Valeria.
[With Valeria’s might, I’m sure they have done their part and did not simply wait these past months. The Emperor must be frustrated that they were not able to find these many Prudencians still in Crux.]
The Marquess thought revealed that the map with the Prudencians’ locations in front of them right now was something they were only able to gather after much risk and patience.
[How terrifying. With the expression on their faces and their silence at the Emperor’s comment, it’s clear they all knew that there were already people sent to find the Prudencians in our kingdom.]
Harold figured that it must be the reason why there was a great number of the Prudencians that went missing and could never be found.
[I know I should not be happy to know that they had infiltrated the kingdom but I am simply glad the number of people that had to suffer was lessened.]
Emily knew exactly what it was like for the slaves so she was happy to realize that the Prudencians who went missing were not killed and secretly buried.
[If they only went to search and left for the Prudencians and left immediately so they would not to be noticed, it was understandable why they did not find them. It took so long for us.]
Jacob’s thoughts revealed that they had to spy on the nobles in various ways while the nobles on their side tried to gather information through social gatherings.
The great number of the revolutionary faction allowed them to gather as much information as they could and checked what could be related to each other until they slowly and carefully found a lot of locations and mapped it out.
"Oh, and these are the lists of nobles who still had Prudencians," Princess Seraphina laid out documents on the table.
"The locations circled in the map are among these nobles’ residences. They hid the Prudencians in carefully hidden rooms in their basements. Most noble households in Crux have basements used for various purposes," Prince Sebastian explained.
[I see. Basements. No wonder we are not able to find them. It’s difficult to stay for long since we might be noticed. If the entrance to the basements were in carefully secluded rooms or hidden rooms in the house, it is hard for us to know since we could not be there for long to them for a while.]
Alwin nodded in understanding, relieved that it did not mean they lacked skills. It was the time-constraint and the location itself.
Invisibility magic does not last for too long so they had to leave after some time. Likewise, even if they were invisible, it does mean the space they occupy and their footprints do not remain. They had to cover those as well.
Princess Seraphina and her companions revealed all the information they could that will help Valeria to recover the remaining Prudencians.
On the other hand, Valeria’s side promised to spare the innocent commoners and nobles from punishment and not harm them during the war.
Prince Benjamin revealed plans they were able to gather for the war so that Valeria could strategize on how not to accidentally kill their own people to wipe out the slaves that were only forced to be soldiers or rather meat shields for their masters.
Their discussion lasted for hours and only ended past midnight.
However, before they parted, Ferdinand made a surprising request.
"Ah, right. Can you acquire slave collars and shackles from various households? Or are those made by a single smithouse?" Ferdinand said out of the blue.
Princess Seraphina and Arabella blinked repeatedly in confusion.
[Does the Emperor secretly keep slaves?!!!] All the people from Crux inside the room gulped nervously.
’Why would he ask for those?’ Arabella tilted her head as she glanced at her husband.
"Ah, please do not misunderstand. We have heard strange rumors about those so we would like to study them. The ones we got from the Prudencians that were returned immediately stopped working when they got out of Crux so we figured it followed certain rules for activation," Raymond quickly clarified.
"Oh, I see..." Princess Seraphina and her companions sighed in relief.
[Thank goodness I knew what His Majesty must have intended those for.] Raymond was relieved their guests were no longer tense.
"Of course, we can, Your Majesty. We can retrieve some immediately. We have also tried studying them," Prince Sebastian agreed.
"Indeed. Slave shackles and collars are made by an organization since it requires magic spells. Those who have slaves follow the instructions provided by the supplier," Duke Alba added.
"It would be of great help if you could also share your findings about the shackles and collars. I believe we need to know how to get rid of those since Crux would be part of Valeria soon," Raymond grabbed the opportunity for more information.
[I see, they would use it for such purposes.] Princess Seraphina was relieved they only misunderstood Ferdinand’s request.
"Yes, of course, Your Excellency," Prince Sebastian agreed.
Ferdinand then sent Riley with their guests for him to bring back the items with him.
