Chapter 769: To Act More Freely
Chapter 769: Chapter 769: To Act More Freely
Ferdinand then sent Riley with their guests for him to bring back the items with him.
"We are forever grateful to Your Majesty for making this possible," their guests bowed.
Princess Seraphina and her companions repeatedly thanked Arabella before departing.
Riley teleported them back to their previous locations.
With their guests gone, it was also time for them to retire.
Their discussions with the delegates from Crux had been more productive than they thought so they spent hours without realizing it.
Moreover, though they were also initially concerned about Arabella’s safety due to the risks it entailed, they gave her a lot of praise for making tonight’s venture possible through her prior meeting with Princess Seraphina.
"You all did well. Keep this meeting a secret for now. We will talk about this more later. You are all dismissed," Ferdinand praised before making everyone leave.
They left feeling satisfied since they were praised by Ferdinand and likewise had a productive day despite working overtime.
"You did well too," Ferdinand complimented Arabella too. "I am proud you are my empress."
It was a compliment from him as an Emperor. And somehow, it felt different from all the praises he gives her as her lover.
"I am very much honored by your words, Your Majesty," Arabella said with her palm on her chest and a slight bow before she knew it.
"Stop. Do not bow to me. I didn’t say it so you would do this," Ferdinand turned back to her lover. He was snapped out of emperor mode now.
"Oh, I just did it as I should as the empress," Arabella quickly said so he would not feel bad about it. It wasn’t a lie as well.
She was happy for her actions to be praised by him as the Emperor. After all, as the Empress, her actions were valid and indeed for the sake of the empire.
Though as a lover, it was indeed worrisome to her husband, especially since she kept it a secret first.
[Look at her beaming so brightly. She liked it, didn’t she?]
"You did way too well. I can’t help but worry about the risks but you truly did very well once again. Even to me just as your lover, your actions are very much praiseworthy," Ferdinand had a smile of defeat on his face.
He was happy for her achievements to have borne fruit and he liked seeing her satisfied with the results. However, he could not help but worry for her safety.
After all, this truly meant he had no choice but to admit her actions were indeed good for the sake of the empire and for her, so he should keep allowing her to do as she pleases.
That his decision to let her spread her wings regardless of how much worry and fear he would feel, was indeed the right one.
"In the future, you can act as you believe is necessary. But please do inform me of your actions. If not before it, then after, if there was no time to discuss it," Ferdinand relayed his will.
"Thank you, Ferdinand. This means so much to me," Arabella hugged him.
She also understood his worries but she needed to act for the sake of their future. Thus, Ferdinand allowing her freedom was something she truly cherished.
Ferdinand heaved a deep sigh and held her tight.
{Do as you please and chase after what you wish to do, but call me whenever you need me.}
{Thank you. Really, thank you, Ferdinand.}
Somehow, they just ended up saying those words telepathically as if it was better for just the two of them to hear it.
"In circumstances where I am once again not informed beforehand and you had to limit the people who knew of Arabella’s activities, you two have to keep her safe no matter what," Ferdinand instructed Alwin and Rendell, who had kept Arabella’s meeting a secret from him.
"Yes, Your Majesty. We will do everything in our power to keep Her Majesty safe," Alwin and Rendell promised.
[This means we can act more than we do now, right? And I wouldn’t get scolded since he already gave approval beforehand?] Alwin was delighted by this development.
"Good. You may retire tonight as well," Ferdinand dismissed them so they could rest.
Once everyone was gone, Ferdinand held Arabella’s hand and said, "It’s late. You should go to sleep now. I’ll walk you to your room."
’I see. He would return to Sibruh immediately,’ she could not help but pout. She wanted to be with him a bit longer.
They were indeed together for hours but all they did was work.
’Am I getting greedy? I shouldn;t be getting clingy when Ferdinand has agreed to let me move more freely.’
Arabella reminded herself that she should already be satisfied and grateful they had dinner together and talked for hours.
"Okay," she held back and began walking to her room.
"Why did you glance at me with a weird look in your eyes as well when they asked about the collars? I do not have strange hobbies," Ferdinand said out of the blue.
’Eh? I thought he didn’t notice.’
"I was just surprised and wondered why you would request such things," Arabella quickly responded.
"Really?" Ferdinand eyed her suspiciously.
"Yes. What else would it be?" Arabella tilted her head.
[Is that really it? What did Arabella think of me? I had no interest in such things. Ah, but I did read in some of the books that there were those who enjoy using modified versions of such things for pleasure at night. But I would never make Arabella suffer like that. Ah, wait... When used at night, those things were for something called a ’play’, wasn’t it? I would hate to see Arabella in the real shackles and chains but if she was into that kind of thing, I wouldn’t mind making my own version of those just for that kind of ’play.’ She would look erotic in...]
Ferdinand’s thoughts suddenly drifted off somewhere else.
