Chapter 592: Alvis’ Rants

.

"Yes, my lord," Alwin was acting shyly after realizing that both Ferdinand and Alvis treasured him more than he thought.

Ferdinand used magic to examine Alwin again and was relieved that he was alright indeed.

Alwin had fully recovered from the curse, and it had no other effects on him that remained.

Ferdinand kept asking more questions though. He wanted more details about what happened to Alwin in Umbra.

While Ferdinand conversed with Alwin during dinner, Alvis conversed with Arabella.

Of course, with Ferdinand giving Alvis glares now and then.

"Your Majesty, did you know?

They just went and fought as they pleased.

If I didn’t keep reinforcing the barrier, their hostile mana would have caused so much damage to the islands nearby...."

Alvis had a lot of complaints about how hard it was to maintain the barrier while Ferdinand and Nero fought.

After all, even if he was once the Elf King, he was very much younger compared to the two. Thus, their mana, especially during battle, was also hard for him to handle.

"Ah, but the duel was amazing. It was such a spectacle, I almost forgot about the barrier several times," Alvis was also proud to have been able to witness a fight between two primordial dragons.

A serious fight was something that hadn’t been witnessed by most Estrellians for thousands of years now.

Alvis said he was going to brag about it to the other rulers in Estrella.

"There were times their attacks almost hit me. Good thing I always managed to teleport instantly to avoid it," Alvis sighed.

"Oh my! Isn’t that dangerous?" Arabella gasped.

Now that she thought about it, it sounded so simple since she was just listening to it. But in reality, it must have been harder than Alvis told her.

Alwin and Raymond said that the mana of the primordials itself could kill people so easily.

"It was very dangerous.

They forgot I was even there.

And yet, after all my efforts regardless, none of them even thank me and I just got violently dragged here suddenly like a sack of potatoes," Alvis continued with his complaints.

Arabella glanced at Ferdinand.

He was giving looks to Alvis but when she glanced, he instantly smiled at her.

’Is he really not going to thank Alvis?’

Alvis was still the leader of the elves, wasn’t it rude to just drag him here like a ’sack of potatoes’ as he termed it, and not even say thank you for maintaining the barrier straight for months?

Does it mean they had no rest whatsoever?

"Back at the Shadows territory, if -" Alvis was about to say something, but Ferdinand cut him off.

’Eh, what was that about?’

It made Arabella curious since Ferdinand even cut Alvis off.

"Thank you for your efforts, Elf King," Ferdinand faked a smile.

{Finish your meal and get the hell out of here. Quit yapping. You were the one who insisted you wanted to tag along. And stop staring at my wife.}

{Alright. Alright, why are you so moody? Eager to be alone with your wife?}

{Of course. So, get the hell out of here as soon as possible.}

{Oh my, if you keep being so rude, I might just stay over for the night and ask Her Majesty to tell me more about the human realm.}

{Ugh, fine. Fine, eat your fill.}

The two kept conversing telepathically but Arabella could hear them anyway. She pretended she couldn’t and just continued eating.

’Did I not tell Ferdinand that I could hear telepathic communication too? Or he forgot about it again?’ Arabella wondered.

Meanwhile, Alwin was behaved. He just ate silently when his elders did not speak to him. Yet, when he was with her, he was filled with all sorts of rants.

She was used to it by now though.

Dinner was lively thanks to Alvis shaking things up.

Arabella once thought that an Elf King would be cool and aloof just like how Alwin used to be. But Alvis was so much friendlier and gentler.

He had a warm aura about him. Just from that, Arabella could tell he must be a kind person.

After all, he felt so bad for being unable to help a friend even though he, himself, was in a predicament at the time...

After dinner, Ferdinand asked if there was anything urgent, he needed to take care of so he could work on it immediately.

However, there was none since Arabella, Raymond, Alwin, Riley, and everyone else did their best to keep things afloat so people would not even notice that Ferdinand wasn’t around.

With that, Arabella and Ferdinand could finally be alone.

"Let’s go to my room," Ferdinand held her hand.

Arabella blushed at the look in his eyes.

"We just ate," Arabella reminded. And she didn’t want to sleep with him after a long time without cleaning up first.

"That wasn’t what I was planning to do," Ferdinand teased her.

The way he said it, it was as if she was the one who was thinking about it when he had been eager to go to bed for a while now.

"Liar," Arabella rolled her eyes.

Of course, she was thinking about it too. But she could hold back a bit more.

"Haha. I know, later. But the stars are bright tonight. Let’s go to my room and laze around the balcony. It has a good view of the night sky," Ferdinand clarified.

Arabella listened to his thoughts, and it was true he wanted to watch the stars with her after not being with her for a while. But of course, after watching the stars, he would set the mood for getting steamy.

It would be their first date in a while and watching the stars while resting would help digest the food they ate.

"Alright," Arabella agreed, and Ferdinand teleported them.

He made a couch for them again out of magic as he usually does.

Arabella sat beside him, but he scooped her up and settled her to his lap.

"Ferdinand," Arabella warned since his hands might begin exploring.

"I know. I just prefer this. Settle your weight on me, here like this. I want to feel your light weight and soft warmth," Ferdinand wrapped his arms around her waist and made her back settle against his body.

It felt nice. Especially after so long that they didn’t get to cuddle like this. But he might get tempted to begin doing things very soon if it was like this.

However, Arabella loved being this close too, so she didn’t say anymore. She had been missing him too and it was rather hard to hold back.

It had been a while since they had a moment like this.

It felt so precious.

Being in Ferdinand’s arms like this gave Arabella such an immense sense of safety and assurance.

If possible, she didn’t want him out of her sight for the next few days.

Hi everyone!

I’m very sorry for the sudden hiatus.

I had covid and had to isolate, rest, and recover.

It had been a rough November.

I’m finally back though, and I’ll do my best to update daily again.

It’s kinda hard to get back to the pace after a month, but I’ll do my best.

Thank you very much for checking in for updates even while I was gone.
