Chapter 585: I Thought You Were Gravely Injured

"What do you mean?" Arabella eyed Alwin in case there was another side-effect he did not tell her.

"I gave you bit by bit earlier to see your body’s reaction. I increased the amount since you are receptive. But you should begin feeling dizzy or nauseous anytime soon. Did you never feel it with His Majesty?"

[Even if their mana is that compatible if he gave her too much, her body would still be overwhelmed.]

"You should have told me about this earlier. Why are you only telling me this now?"

Arabella wanted to pull at his ear for not telling her the facts first. But then again, she did not ask for an explanation either.

"No, I have never experienced such with Ferdinand. He must have ensured not to give too much."

"Hmm, perhaps."

Alwin kept giving her more, but Arabella was still fine. She did feel though that Alwin’s mana seemed to be getting heavier.

"Just how much mana had His Majesty been giving you?" Alwin was astounded.

Alwin knew that Arabella reeked of Ferdinand and his mana, but he assumed it was due to the marking. Or that the little capacity she could receive as a human was filled to the brim by Ferdinand.

Mana disperses over time. And Arabella did not know how to conserve or maintain it in her body for her own use.

So Alwin had assumed she could receive a lot of his mana now because the ones she had received from Ferdinand had mostly dispersed. It had been months since the last time Ferdinand gave her mana after all.

[Did her capacity increase more than tenfold because His Majesty kept giving her a lot? Or has His Majesty’s already affected hers? But it shouldn’t have increased this much through that limited time. How can a human receive this much.]

Alwin frowned in confusion and kept wondering about the possible reasons.

’Could it be because I was once the Fairy Queen in the reincarnation before me?’ Arabella wondered.

She had already inherited some of the Fairy Queen’s personality. Her love for flowers and elves for one.

She was about to tell Alwin about it when he suddenly rose in alarm and made several layers of barrier around them.

Arabella understood why when several seconds later, two people appeared in the garden.

It was Ferdinand and Alvis!

But something was weird.

Ferdinand looked different. He looked part human part dragon.

He had two horns, pointed ears, and sharp teeth. His hands and feet were sharp claws. He had a pair of wings and a tail.

’His left wing is injured!’ Arabella was wide-eyed.

It had a huge hole and was bleeding. But before she could even speak, it healed right before her eyes in a matter of seconds.

"Arabella!"

"Alwin!"

Ferdinand and Alvis said their names at the same time.

[Arabella seems fine. But perhaps because she was already healed. Alwin seems fine too. What happened while I was gone? Why did I feel Alwin’s mana flowing into her?]

Ferdinand examined them in a matter of seconds and walked in her direction.

Arabella rose to meet him. She staggered, feeling a bit dizzy.

’Is this the side effect of earlier? I did not notice because I was seated?’

It felt as if Ferdinand’s mana was surrounding her from all sides and there was something else that felt different. Something that felt suffocating. It was making it hard to breathe.

"Stay here," Alwin supported her and made her sit again.

[What’s going on?] Ferdinand frowned.

Several layers of the barriers broke as he approached but Alwin put them up again.

"My lord, you are oozing off too much mana and bloodlust after a fight. Her Majesty’s body won’t be able to take it."

’I see. It wasn’t Alwin’s mana.’

"Right. You shouldn’t. You haven’t calmed down yet," Alvis made multi-layered barriers around Ferdinand.

Ferdinand was wide-eyed when he realized he was the reason she was feeling dizzy. He vanished and returned in a few seconds. This time, in his human body.

The suffocating feeling was gone, and Arabella could finally breathe properly again.

Ferdinand walked to her in huge strides, making the barriers vanish in the process.

"Arabella are you alright?! What happened?"

He examined her again just to be sure.

"I’m alright. I did not get hurt. Rather, I’m more worried about you. Your left wing was heavily injured," Arabella eyed him. His human body that remained here was as healthy as ever.

[Why did I let her see that appearance?!] Ferdinand was wide-eyed but composed himself again to hide the fact that he was embarrassed she saw him in that state.

"Ah, that. I got distracted when I felt you receiving a lot of mana. I thought you were gravely injured so I hurried back," Ferdinand held her hand and eyed the wrist Alwin touched earlier.

’He’s really back,’ Arabella gulped at the familiar warmth wrapped around her hand.

Meanwhile, Alvis also checked Alwin.

"You don’t know how shocked I was when I suddenly stopped feeling your presence. Thank goodness you are alright," Alvis patted Alwin’s head. He was several inches taller.

"I’m not a child," Alwin complained but without bite.

"Then, why did I feel a lot of Alwin’s mana flowing into your body?" Ferdinand frowned.

[I thought he had to heal her, so he used so much mana. It was quite much as if he was trying to replace the mana, I gave her before I left.]

Ferdinand looked around and realized they were in the garden.

[Why are they here? And why is Rendell not here either?]

"Alwin, what’s going on? Why did you give that much mana to my wife if she’s not injured or anything?" Ferdinand inquired and Alwin visibly stiffened.

{Remember your promise.} Alwin reminded her.

But he didn’t really need to remind her to do something.

Arabella had been holding back from doing something.

"Ferdinand," Arabella wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him in. She tiptoed and kissed him.

It had been so long that she didn’t care if there were other people with them.

She missed him.

Ferdinand seemed to feel the same.

He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her back.

It felt so much better and barely enough after months of not seeing each other.

When she opened her eyes, they were all alone.

Alwin used the chance well and left with Alvis. He left all the explanations to her.
