The mourning for "Renee" lasted for a month.

Arabella attending morning court sessions was delayed because of it but she kept working in her office.

Her assistants were still overwhelmed after knowing the detailed results of the selection despite an entire month passing.

Especially after they learned that Ivan, Nadia, and Odette were the Top 3 with the highest marks despite not having the best chances and resources to review for the exams or gain appropriate experience.

The three were also the ones who got rewards from her for the month.

Ronald, Narcissa, and Denzel all tied in the fourth.

Norbert and Felix tied in fifth.

Oscar and Egbert also tied for the sixth place.

They all showed significant improvement in just a month.

Likewise, there were no longer any suspicions of cheating on Ivan, Nadia, and Odette due to their humble background compared with the seven from prestigious and successful houses.

Arabella was relieved she had allowed them to check each other’s work since the quality of their work, proved that they indeed had the ability. Thus, they were not suspected of cheating by the others the way Narcissa did.

Ivan had a perfect performance in all the tests and tasks, so everyone finally realized why Ivan was the one summoned with Ronald to work with Arabella.

Meanwhile, they were shocked that Nadia was the second with the best results. It was because Nadia sometimes behaved and spoke oddly that it made them underestimate her abilities.

They were also surprised with Odette being the third due to the situation in Prudencia at the time, but Ivan and Nadia’s results were more shocking than hers, so they let it pass more easily than the two.

Denzel was horrified and looked like he might pass out when he learned that Narcissa was the fourth with the best results in the selection. He had eye bags quite often since he was reading a lot of books to catch up with whatever it was, he was missing.

Ronald was embarrassed that he was the fifth in rank during the selection, so he decided to learn a lot more and defeat all those who got better results from him starting from Narcissa until he defeats Ivan.

Ronald was back to his usual appearance thanks to magic, but he could now spend several days without any sleep just like the long-lived races do. Thus, he had an advantage over everyone when it came to time spent learning new skills.

Ivan and Narcissa had already asked Ronald if he could teach them the ancient language, but he refused both since he wanted to focus on improving himself.

Oscar, Felix, Norbert, and Egbert were all satisfied with their performance and results in the selection, so they had no hard feelings about the rank of their results. They knew that was the best they could do at the time of the selection.

However, after working as Arabella’s assistants, they already learned a lot and had improved here and there. They were also determined to continue improving and compete with their fellow assistants.

Arabella learned from their thoughts that since Ivan and Narcissa were both rejected by Ronald, they continued searching for a teacher.

It was then that she learned all her six assistants from the most noble houses knew the ancient language.

Ivan asked each one of them to teach him, but all of them rejected him since he was the one, they needed to defeat.

Only Norbert agreed on one condition. He was wise to ask that in exchange, Ivan would also teach him. It was his weakest subject so he could improve there.

The others were horrified when they realized they could have asked for that as well.

When he heard that, Felix was quick to act and agreed to teach Narcissa in exchange for teaching him his weakest subject as well.

This created a synergy, so everyone began asking each other to teach them one aspect they were weak at in exchange for teaching something the other was weak at.

And of course, it made Arabella happy since it would help them get to know each other. Hopefully, they will be able to act as a team soon.

She just hoped they would not overwork themselves.

Her problem now was Ferdinand still hadn’t returned.

Several days passed, and the Harvest Festival was held in the city.

There were decorations here and there and everyone was cheerful and in celebration.

Arabella thought she would enjoy it too. But the more she saw happy people with their families, the more she was reminded of Fermin and Ferdinand who were both not with her.

’I wish I could enjoy a Harvest Festival like this with them in the future,’ Arabella thought as she gazed at the city.

Seeing everyone laughing and smiling with their loved ones made her feel lonely.

’Please return soon, Ferdinand. I want to see your face,’ she kissed their wedding ring.

He had not responded to any of their attempts to contact him.

If she could not feel his presence, she would have gone crazy from worry and demanded to go to Umbra. Being able to feel his presence assured her that he was alright.

’But what is taking him so long? Did that entity also meddle so he could not return as soon as he wanted?’

Arabella sighed deeply.

’This must be why I had a bad inkling when Ferdinand said he would depart for Umbra.’

Now she understood why she was clingy back then and was even aggressive in bed.

It was because she would not see him for a while.

It had been more than two months already since he went to Umbra. Just a few more days and it would turn into three months.

If she could not see her assistants being competitive, she wouldn’t have been able to do any work.

Seeing them working hard made her remain motivated to do her best every day even when she was beginning to lose focus from thinking about her husband’s absence.
