Chapter 575: Not Worried About the Resources

There was no reason to keep staying by her side after she told him he could leave. But Dimo stayed and continued helping her regardless of the consequences of their actions.

"He was not after my love, body, or power and riches as the Empress.

"He knew I might be doomed. He knew a lot of the things I was doing were wrong. But he did not blame nor judge me.

"I set him free, but he chose to continue helping me even when I felt bad for keeping him with me for so long."

’Back then, Dimo must have already figured out I had decided to die after my revenge.’

With what they once thought was the truth, Dimo must have wanted to help her be at peace since she helped him reclaim Olivier from Sonia and his uncle.

"The least I could do for him is ensure he had a much better life this time," Arabella explained.

[That boy did stay with her for years. He always followed her instructions. But who knows what he had been doing while I was in Umbra for ten years.]

"But wasn’t he gone when I returned from Umbra? Did he also betray you, but you did not know?" Alwin pointed out.

"He wasn’t there because I ordered him to leave that day after giving him his last task. I believe he never betrayed me. I was shown Renee’s betrayal. If Dimo did as well, I would have been shown dreams about it."

After pondering over for some time, Arabella had assumed that it must be the God of Dragons who helped her see what happened after her death for her to be enlightened of truth. She figured he would have shown her memories of Dimo too if he had also betrayed her.

But there was none. So, she felt assured that Dimo never betrayed her.

"I see. That’s possible. Even I recovered memories while I was in Umbra because I needed to know about it that time," Alwin agreed with her theory.

"Are you sure we should be talking about this here?"

Arabella glanced around. She recalled that most of the long-lived races had heightened senses. Someone could overhear them.

"Yes. I already cast the barriers early on."

Alwin flicked his fingers, and the barrier became visible to Arabella.

"I see."

’No wonder he spoke freely.’

"You plan on making him your magician, right?" Alwin asked directly.

"I want to have my own magician. You and Riley are Ferdinand’s. I’d love to have my own, so I was thinking of offering him that position in the future if Ferdinand allows."

[Of course, he would, if you would ask him.] Alwin knew his lord.

"But of course, that also depends on Dimo. Once he grows up and wants to be a magician in service to the Empire, then why not? He’s the heir of Olivier so he would have to leave after he had learned enough to satisfy his curiosities."

Arabella wanted Dimo to be educated and trained enough about magic so he could protect himself in the future no matter what happens. But it did cross her mind to hire him as her magician if he wanted to.

"You don’t understand anything at all."

Alwin shook his head and sighed.

"Huh?" Arabella tilted her head.

"Why do you think magicians usually stay cooped up doing experiments? Magicians do not get their curiosities satisfied at all. It’s an unending cycle. After you satisfy your curiosities about something, another will catch your interest and you will investigate it and learn as much as possible."

Alwin was speaking from experience. No wonder Ferdinand and Raymond were worried that he was way too focused on magic.

"If he remains interested in magic, he might want to stay in the Empire his whole life since he could learn a lot here," Alwin pointed.

’Right! Why didn’t I think about that?’

"I guess, it’s alright if that’s what he wants to do. His father would provide for his budget and is willing to compensate for his son getting educated here. Once he’s older, I’m sure he can provide that on his own."

Dimo would not be living and getting educated in Riva for free.

Duke Olivier and Riley had already discussed it and came to an agreement with Arabella and Raymond’s approval when she was not yet allowed to leave Estrella.

"I don’t care about that. We have a lot of resources."

Alwin did not want to seem like he was inquiring about her plans with Dimo because he was stingy. He was not worried about the budget at all nor the cost of teaching a child magic for years.

Books about magic were already expensive. Teachers, even more so.

Yet, Alwin was willing to do it for free if the student was promising and could keep secrets. But of course, only with people Ferdinand had approved of.

"You also think he’s quite capable right? He self-taught himself all sorts of magic in the past. With all of you guiding and teaching him now, he would be a much better magician. Aren’t you also interested to see how far he could go?"

Arabella eyed Alwin. He was. He had already taken a liking to Dimo after seeing he was determined to learn and was learning quickly.

"I am. But I just wanted to ensure you are not planning to make him do unreasonable things."

’Why is he being wary of me again?’

She thought they had settled the matter with his suspicions about her. Still, she could understand that he must be worried that things could still go wrong even after Evania had returned to Umbra.

"I won’t. He’s an adorable child. I won’t do anything that would harm him," Arabella promised.

[I see. Since she cannot have the Young Master yet, so she’s projecting her affection to that boy.]

’That’s not what I was trying to do.’

Arabella wanted to rebut Alwin’s thought but when she pondered about it, he might be right.

She had been much closer to kids now because of her experiences and memories with her son.

Raising Fermin helped her understand kids more deeply which was why she got along with kids now.

Unlike in her previous life when she wasn’t that close to them since she did not understand them as much as she does now.
