Chapter 574: Dinner "Date" with Alwin
They have taken a huge step toward their goal to ensure Ferdinand would have a chance at happiness in this life.
But now, their problem was, that Ferdinand had not returned yet.
’When will he return?’
Arabella felt depressed again at the thought of her husband.
She had been busying herself with work and ensuring Evania returned to Umbra. And now that Evania had finally returned to Umbra and the curse on Alwin was lifted, she wanted to see Ferdinand’s face.
She wanted to tell him that one of the reasons they were once doomed would no longer happen or at least give him a hug in silent celebration for this huge step.
Alwin was still emotional, so Arabella did not disturb him and went to work as usual. She did not want to ruin his mood when he was finally feeling better.
There were a lot of documents to be signed so Arabella was busy the whole day.
Surprisingly, after work...
"Your Majesty, shall we have dinner together? We need to discuss some matters about Evania," Alwin invited her to Estrella.
’This is a first. He usually just speaks with me while I am in my study. He must have something important to discuss.’
"Yes, of course."
She agreed since she usually ate alone anyway.
"Rendell, Rowan, you two can take a break. Alwin will guard me, so you have nothing to worry about," Arabella dismissed them.
"Thank you, Your Majesty."
As long as Alwin was with her, they did not have to follow her around all the time. Especially since they would dine in Ferdinand’s palace in Estrella.
Alwin then teleported her to Estrella and was surprised at what greeted her.
"Oh my, what’s this?"
There was a lavish dinner for them. It was at a gazebo in one of the flower gardens.
"A little celebration for the achievement of our first goal," Alwin said nonchalantly.
"Oh, I see. It deserves a celebration, indeed."
’But I’m sure that’s not his goal.’
Arabella eyed Alwin suspiciously and he tilted his head.
"What?"
"What else? You must have something important to discuss," Arabella asked directly since he wasn’t thinking about whatever it was.
"We have a lot to discuss of course. But let’s eat first or it will ruin your mood," Alwin grinned.
He indeed had something in mind. Since it wasn’t crossing his thoughts, Arabella figured he must have used a spell on himself not to think about it.
"Now I wonder what it would be for it to ruin my mood," Arabella sighed and seated herself since Alwin acted like a gentleman and pulled a seat for her.
Alwin just shrugged his shoulders and seated himself as well.
"As I said, let’s eat first. Alfredo made the effort to prepare all this," Alwin gestured to their lavish dinner.
"Right. Thank you for asking him to prepare all this and for inviting me as well.
"It feels better eating with someone than all alone. Everyone refuses to eat with me in fear of Ferdinand and all the rules."
Arabella had repeatedly invited her maids but all of them respectfully declined.
She did not insist since they would not be able to eat properly if they were nervous they could be punished for it.
"Well, yes. All of them were also raised following all the rules set by humans so they wouldn’t dare.
"I don’t care about all those rules though. But I’m sure His Majesty would be jealous if he learned you were eating with another man like this.
"Rather, he must have a bad inkling by now. After all, I am having dinner with his wife all alone. Maybe, he would head here immediately."
"Huh? Is this why you invited me here? Are you trying to provoke Ferdinand so he would return?" Arabella blinked repeatedly.
"Yes, it’s just a trial. Who knows he might pop up here any second," Alwin simply continued eating.
’I see. No wonder we are having dinner here in the garden like it’s a date. I was wondering why everything was prepared this way. Does he want to get scolded by Ferdinand as soon as he returns?’
"Haha. I didn’t think about that," Arabella chuckled and continued her meal.
Dinner was a very important meal. Especially for couples.
It was when they shared what went through the day so Arabella usually had her dinners with Ferdinand unless they were both busy or were apart.
Ferdinand was indeed the jealous kind so if he knew she was having dinner with another man all alone, even if it was Alwin, he would indeed be jealous.
And yet, he did not come even when they ate slowly and conversed about random things like they were indeed on a date.
Arabella concluded he must be busy with something or did not have a bad inkling as Alwin thought.
When they were done with the meal and were just having tea, Arabella inquired again.
"So, what did you plan to speak about with me."
"I just wanted to clarify some things," Alwin straightened up his posture.
The expression on his face changed. He looked deadly serious this time and eyed her with stern eyes.
"What are you planning to do with that child? I heard he would continue staying in the Magic Tower."
’Eh? Is he talking about Dimo?’
"Do you mean Dimo?"
"Yes."
"The issue with his family was already resolved.
"Duke Olivier divorced Sonia and exiled her with the Head Butler. He visited weeks ago and spoke with his son.
"Dimo wanted to continue learning about magic and wanted to continue staying in the Magic Tower."
Arabella explained since Alwin was not around back then.
"I know. I heard the reports from Riley. But aside from that, what are you planning to do with that child? Why do you want him to learn magic so earnestly?"
’Ah, is he thinking I might be scheming something?’
"Don’t worry, as I have said last time, I just want him to live a good life this time.
"I don’t want him to go through all the suffering he had in the past life.
"You see, he was my only ally who was not after anything from me," Arabella felt emotional as she thought of the past.
All her "allies" back then were after something from her. Even Icarus was.
But Dimo, even after she had already freed him, did not leave her side until she ordered him to do so for his safety.
She did help him get away from the dark guild’s clutches. But he already repaid all those as he served her for years.
There was no reason to keep staying by her side after she told him he could leave. But Dimo stayed and continued helping her regardless of the consequences of their actions.
