Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress -
Chapter 465: Task Distribution
Chapter 465: Task Distribution
[Someone who works for His Majesty is also Raymond’s assistant? I have never encountered this person in Riva though. Not even once. He has a good build and looks like he is good with the sword and close combat.] Ronald was required to train too so he could tell at a glance.
[I have never encountered this person before. If I did, I would be able to recall. I still recall the faces of all the people working in the palace. Does he work in something related to the military, so his identity was never revealed? But if he does, why would he be here if His Majesty and His Excellency were busy with war preparations? Ah, but then again, if it was about a huge-scale war, Ronald’s family would have heard of it. He looks as clueless as I do so it must be something else.] Ivan wondered about it too.
Ronald and Ivan were wary of the new face and curious about what led to Arabella having to do all the work.
But Arabella could not give any details about what Ferdinand and Raymond was busy about. Thus, she decided to busy the two with work so they would not have time to wonder about it nor about who Rowan was.
"Alright, since we have a lot of work to do, let’s begin immediately," she showed them to each of the tables they would be using.
She had already sorted all the documents they would work on after Ferdinand told her to get her some of her assistants with her here. All the confidential matters and documents that cannot be done by her or these three were already separated for Ferdinand and Raymond to work on later.
"Ivan, you would be doing some of the tasks I am supposed to do," she had the already separated the matters that she, herself would have to do.
Ivan browsed through the documents and was wide-eyed.
"Your Majesty, aren’t these things very important and some are confidential?" Ivan was terrified he might make a mistake or get punished for seeing confidential matters.
[Or is Her Majesty testing us?] Ivan wondered.
"Yes. But you are working for me anyway. You will keep on seeing such documents. Work carefully but do it with confidence. I believe you have the capability to accomplish those," Arabella encouraged, and Ivan was touched.
[Despite exam results, my former superiors only kept making me do tasks for new hires because they didn’t trust a commoner like me could work well. They concluded I just got lucky. But Her Majesty is making me work on documents this important. Does she believe in me that much? I must do my best to respond to her trust. I have to do well and not disappoint her. This is my chance to prove my worth and secure my position as her assistant!]
Ivan was determined to prove that no matter what Narcissa says, he would not back down. Rather, because Narcisa went to such lengths just to make him quit, Ivan got even more determined to prove what he could do and stay as Arabella’s assistant for as long as he could. Especially with an opportunity presenting itself like this.
"My deepest gratitude for your trust, Your Majesty. I will do my very best to accomplish this task," Ivan bowed.
[Her Majesty is already entrusting him with such important work?!] Ronald was envious.
’No need to worry. Because you will have a lot of work on your hands too,’ Arabella stopped herself from smirking.
"Ronald, you will be working with Rowan to do the Prime Minister’s tasks."
"T-the Prime Minister’s tasks?!" Ronald was shocked. He thought he would be assisting Ivan or getting another task related to his usual work in her office.
"Yes, His Majesty and the Prime Minister used to be the only once to divide this work between them. But since Valeria now has me as the Empress, some of the work was transferred to me. So, these documents are also related to the work you do in my office. I’m sure you will be able to do these too," Arabella smiled, and Ronald blinked repeatedly as he glanced from his table and back to her.
[Does Her Majesty believe in me too or was it because I am Raymond’s brother? Did she think Raymond must have trained me to be able to take his place in case something happened to him? None of that sort happened. We barely even meet or talk. Likewise, his work must be very much confidential too. And yet they are entrusting it to me and this person whom I only met today?]
"Don’t worry. I chose you and Ivan to be sent here because I know you are both best suited for this. Do your very best, alright? I’m expecting great things from you both," Arabella did a bit more of encouragement.
[Her Majesty thought we were best suited for this?! Does she also believe in me as much as she does in Ivan? She clearly believed in Ivan’s story earlier. There was no shred of doubt on her face when Ivan was explaining what happened. She asked for it to be investigated and verified but I could tell she fully believed him. Ah, but she did believe me too when I told her about Nadia and Odette.] Ronald concluded that she must believe in him even if not as much as she does in Ivan.
[This is also a chance to see what Raymond’s work is all about. Maybe, I can get closer to his level if I get to learn from the work he does. Someday, I have to show everyone that I am not his shadow.]
"Then, I will also do my very best to meet your expectations, Your Majesty. My deepest gratitude for this opportunity," Ronald thanked her as well.
Arabella noticed that Ronald truly does have some kind of insecurity issues with Raymond. He looked up to him but was likewise, envious and insecure of him.
