Chapter 464: They May Be Getting Bullied Too

"Recently, Lady Odette and Lady Nadia had both begun eating separately too. I’m not sure if this could be the same or related to Lord Ivan’s case but I thought I should inform Your Majesty just in case," Ronald expressed, and Ivan was wide-eyed as he recalled something he forgot to tell them.

"Last time, I thought I was going to be beaten to death and someone knocked on the storage house. When they checked, no one was there but they decided to leave just in case. A few minutes after they left, Lady Nadia came and treated my injuries. She even helped me go back to my room. She knows about what Lady Narcissa had been up to," Ivan added.

He feared that Narcissa may be bullying Nadia too in case she confronted the former about it. And Odette somehow also got dragged into it.

’Oh my. This is bad, those two may indeed be getting bullied too. Narcissa wouldn’t have them beat up too, right?! They have already been through so much,’ Arabella got even more agitated. Her most capable assistants were getting bullied.

Arabella knew that with Nadia’s mindset, she was not even sure if she could be considered a noble. Thus, she must have approached Odette about it. And with Odette being righteous and all, she must have confronted Narcissa. And now they may indeed be getting bullied too.

"Thank you for informing us. We will have someone watch over the two," Arabella said before sending Ivan and Ronald to the dining hall so she could speak with Raymond and Riley.

"Riley, the Magic Tower is not affiliated with any family and thus, everyone believes it had the best likelihood to be impartial in all its judgments. Can you have someone conduct an investigation for this matter?" Arabella asked him since Raymond cannot do it.

The Ryvaleh family might hold a grudge about it if they hear it was Raymond or his office that asked for an investigation.

"Yes, of course, Your Majesty."

"Please keep it a secret in the meantime and have someone protect Nadia and Odette."

Since she was close enough with Alwin and Riley now, she could ask them for favors like this. They also knew they no longer needed to wait for Ferdinand’s approval since he would likely scold them for not immediately doing what she asked them to do.

Riley returned to Riva immediately to act upon the issue. Likewise, he had a lot of work to do. Especially since he had to pretend as Raymond too.

"I’m sorry I cannot directly help in this matter, Your Majesty. But in case an official inquiry is made, I can act as one of the witnesses about Narcissa slapping Ivan Meyer," Raymond apologized yet again.

"I understand where you are coming from. Please focus on searching for Alwin instead," Arabella assured him.

Shortly after, there was a knock on the door.

"Your Majesty, Rowan had arrived," Rendell informed her.

Arabella glanced at Raymond wordlessly asking if they could have Rowan here now and he nodded.

"Let him in," Arabella then responded. The door opened and a familiar face greeted her.

"Greetings to Your Majesty," Rowan bowed.

"Sir Rowan, I finally get to meet you," Arabella smiled.

[Had they not told her yet?] Rowan nervously glanced at Raymond. He wasn’t used to being addressed "Sir."

"Her Majesty already knows," Raymond answered his silent question.

"My apologies, because Raymond used your appearance before, I am used to addressing you as a knight. How should I call you?"

"Just my name, please, Your Majesty," Rowan asked just like Rendell.

Raymond then did the introductions and informed Rowan why he was summoned.

[She’s still so young and yet, they made her do this much work all on her own?! And in that short amount of time?! How could they be so cruel? What if she thought our lord married her just to make a slave?] Rowan was horrified at the amount of work she had been doing all alone the past week.

Arabella stopped herself from chuckling. Ferdinand thought the same even with the usual amount of work she does in the Imperial Place.

Arabella realized that the long-lived races were not used to doing as much work as humans do in a day since they had a longer time to finish things because of their lifespan. Thus, there was a major difference between them regarding the workload that had to be done in a day.

’No wonder Ferdinand didn’t like doing the work of an Emperor at first. But he got used to it anyway and eventually got bored of it.’

Arabella had tea with Raymond and Rowan so she could get to know the latter more and be comfortable working with him.

Meanwhile, once Ronald and Ivan were done with their meal, they were guided to the rooms they would use while they stay there. They left their luggage in their rooms and returned to Arabella’s office right on time when Raymond was about to say leave.

"His Majesty and I are both busy taking care of an urgent matter. Thus, Her Majesty had no choice but to do our work for us. She had been doing so for a whole week," Raymond said and the two were wide-eyed.

[What could be so important that they are leaving all the work to Her Majesty?! Is war about to break out with a powerful country?] Ronald and Ivan both wondered.

"This is Rowan, he works for His Majesty and is also my assistant. Do get along with him and do your best to help Her Majesty," Raymond introduced.

"Yes, Your Excellency," the two replied formally and bowed.

Raymond then said his goodbyes and left to go help Ferdinand search for Alwin.

[Someone who works for His Majesty is also his assistant? I have never encountered this person in Riva though. Not even once. He has a good build and looks like he is good with the sword and close combat.] Ronald was required to train too so he could tell at a glance.
