Chapter 466: Needlessly Spacious

"Ah, and of course, your compensation would be increased due to the difference in the difficulty and value of the work you will be doing here," Arabella informed and Ronald and Ivan and they were delighted.

Rowan’s compensation meanwhile would be taken care of by Ferdinand or Raymond later.

With the tasks divided into four of them, Arabella was able to focus on Ferdinand’s workload.

On the first day, Ivan and Ronald were both too concerned that they didn’t have the right to work on a lot of documents and had to ask her about it. They had a lot of questions and showed her some documents several times.

Meanwhile, Rowan worked confidently and was indeed very much capable as Ferdinand had said.

Ivan and Ronald felt challenged due to this and thus, on the following days, they were more confident in their work until they got used to doing the work assigned to them.

All of them got occupied with work that the days passed by quickly.

"Ivan, how many days had passed since you arrived here?" Arabella inquired one time as she finished a document.

"Five days, Your Majesty," Ivan replied, and Arabella gasped.

"Oh, my goodness! I have to check on those two. They hadn’t eaten anything again," Arabella thought out loud. She stopped when both Ronald and Ivan stared at her with a silent question about who those two were.

Rowan remained silent since he already knew who she was referring to.

’How could I forget?! I told myself to check on them in three days, but I completely forgot. What if their human bodies get sick or weakened?’

Arabella bit her lip at the thought that since none of them had gone to visit her study even once, it meant Alwin was not found or contacted yet. She touched the summoning ring on her finger that she usually used to contact him before.

’Alwin, Alwin. Where are you? Are you alright? Can you contact us? Can’t you use the emergency ring Ferdinand gave you? Alwin? Ferdinand and Raymond are worried about you. Please return as soon as you can,’ she tried contacting him again. But there was no response.

She had been trying to contact him ever since his supposed return was delayed. But there was not a single response. She wasn’t even sure if it could reach him there.

Ferdinand and Raymond had tried contacting him using the summoning ring as well but all of them had the same results.

Arabella hoped that he was alright and was simply unable to contact them.

’Whoever you are that sent us back and allowed us to have memories of the past, you have a plan, right? Alwin must have an important role he has to play in the future, right? Then please guide him back safely so he can complete that role.’

Arabella had kept thinking about it every night and she kept reaching the conclusion that they wouldn’t have been sent back only to die so soon without being able to do anything yet.

She herself had gotten poisoned but she did not die. Meaning, Alwin would not die all of a sudden too.

Maybe, Alwin was injured and had to recuperate so he could not teleport back yet or contact them.

[Her Majesty suddenly looks troubled.] Ivan and Ronald noticed.

[She must be thinking about Alwin and My Lord. Yet, she has to do all this work instead.] Rowan noticed too but focused on his work instead so he would be able to ease the burden on her.

’I have to stop worrying about it for now, so Ronald and Ivan won’t get distracted by my melancholy mood,’ Arabella took a deep breath and decided to focus on what she can do while waiting for Alwin’s return.

Once the day was over, it was time to see Ferdinand.

"Rendell, please inform Alfredo to prepare a hearty meal. I will try to talk with Ferdinand later," she instructed once he had walked her to Ferdinand’s room.

"Yes, Your Majesty," Rendell said and left once she was closed the door.

She was still staying in Ferdinand’s needlessly spacious room since the preparations for her room was not yet complete. She had gotten too busy lately to have time for it.

Ferdinand wanted her to be the one to decide what her room would look like, so he had left it up to her to design it as she pleased.

"Your Majesty," I’m here to help you bathe and get changed, Aletha knocked on the door.

"Come in."

Arabella took a longer bath than usual since the food would take more time to prepare because Ferdinand would be around.

She got dressed up better than usual too since Aletha heard she would be seeing Ferdinand today.

’But we would only eat together anyway,’ Arabella thought.

She hoped Ferdinand could stay a bit longer, but she didn’t want to be bothersome to him either.

She knew he had to focus on searching for Alwin so she would be fine with just speaking with him while they eat together.

Still, she couldn’t help but wonder, does he not miss her?

The intimacy they had shared between them the past month had made her too used to his warmth, attention, and sweetness, waking up with him by her side, eating with him, speaking with him about random things, and just lazing around. It felt strange to be unable to have those things again so suddenly.

She wanted to spend some time with him and be held in his embrace once again.

Arabella looked around his room again. It had been a while since Ferdinand last slept with her in there. It felt cold without him.

’It is needlessly spacious indeed. It’s too wide for a single person to sleep here. Ah, but maybe not for Ferdinand since he’s tall. Had he ever slept here in his dragon form?’ Arabella wondered out of nowhere.

Just imagining a dragon Ferdinand curling up here made her smile.

’This spacious room would be cramped for him in that form.’

Once the food was ready, she went to check on Ferdinand and Raymond since they must sustain their human body once more.
