Chapter 455: Alwin’s Presence Vanished
It meant Ferdinand was indeed just a child, someone akin to a toddler or even younger when he met Ellie since he could not even take human form.
And when Ferdinand began to raise the second generation of dragons, he was akin to just 15-16 years old even though he was already an ancient creation back then when judged by humans.
After Ferdinand explained to her, Arabella decided to tell him the real reason why Eliana left his side. Perhaps it was because Eliana’s soul was hers now, Arabella didn’t want the misunderstanding to remain as it was.
"Eliana did not leave you because she thought you couldn’t sire a child. It was because she loved you so much that she decided to let go when she thought you didn’t want her by your side the way she does."
Arabella explained that Eliana misunderstood his body’s lack of reaction to her touch, and his lack of sexual desire for her, to mean that he was never interested in her as a woman in the first place. That she merely assumed he was into her too. Or that her excessive attention for Ferdinand pressured him to accept her even when he truly couldn’t.
"She thought she was forcing you, so she decided to let go so you can find happiness with whoever you would love and desire in the future."
’And it just happened to be me. Or was it because of all those times they encountered each other that I became Ferdinand’s mate? Did the gods decide to meddle because we failed too much?’
"I see. Thank you for telling me," Ferdinand was relieved.
Arabella learned from her husband that a thousand years after Eliana left him, she got married to another celestial being and later, had children.
Ferdinand never showed himself to Eliana again, but he asked for updates from Elrond until Eliana and her husband died of old age.
Thinking about the past, Ferdinand was glad that Eliana was able to move on and found happiness even if it wasn’t with him.
’Oh, so he kept loving her for quite a long time.’
[That look on her face...]
"Are you jealous?" Ferdinand asked and Arabella felt heat rise to her face.
"No!" she turned away and her husband chuckled.
"You are so cute when you are jealous too," he wrapped her in his arms and gave her pecks on the cheek. "I think I did love Eliana a lot. But I love you so much more."
’Look at him acting so smooth! I knew he was experienced with love even though he was not conscious about it!’
Ferdinand kept kissing her on the cheek because she was avoiding his eyes.
"Arabella, you have nothing to worry about. I only love you now. And you are the only one I have desired and longed for like I’m going to die if I don’t see you in a single day."
"That’s because you didn’t have this kind of desire in the past, right?" Arabella pointed out and he paused.
"That may be true. But I’m sure I love you best," Ferdinand placated her. "And you are the only one I have ever marked as my mate."
Arabella touched where he had left his mark. That place was sensitive to his touch even before he placed that mark. But after he bit her there, it became even more sensitive to touch. Ferdinand knew and kissed it once she removed her hand.
Her body shivered involuntarily, sparking a fire in Ferdinand’s eyes. His arms snaked around her waist and buried his face at the crook of her neck.
"Now that I’m not sure if I would be able to sire children, it makes me want to try. Should we try to know whether we can have lots of children in the future?" Ferdinand tempted her.
"No. If you don’t use the barrier, I might get pregnant. My period comes regularly so I think it won’t be hard to conceive," Arabella pointed out.
"Then, I think we should practice how to do it a bit more," he kissed where his mark was.
Arabella easily felt in the mood too and with Ferdinand thinking that he needed to prove he would be able to impregnate her someday, they ended up doing it a lot to the point she almost passed out.
She could barely move a finger when they were done, and she began falling asleep while he was still inside her.
[Oh, I seem to have overdone it. But why does seeing her this exhausted because of me feel so good?]
Arabella wanted to pinch or punch him at that thought but Ferdinand gave her a sweet peck and gently pulled out. She felt him cleaning her body as she dozed off.
They did not do it again at night since they ended up doing it much earlier.
. . .
They were having tea in the garden the following day when Ferdinand’s teacup suddenly fell. He had gripped at the handle too tightly that it broke so the body fell to the table.
Ferdinand should have been able to catch it with his quick reflexes, but he didn’t.
"What’s wrong?!" Arabella asked in alarm since Ferdinand’s eyes suddenly glowed the way they did when he was using magic to further enhance his vision.
[Why did Alwin’s presence suddenly vanish? It is completely gone.] Ferdinand frowned. He did not hear her ask a question. This was a first.
Arabella learned from Ferdinand’s thoughts that since he raised Alwin since childhood and taught him most of what he knew about magic, he should be able to feel Alwin’s presence no matter how far he went. Even if for instance, Alwin was in Estrella and Ferdinand was in Valeria or vice versa.
[Did my senses simply fail me?] Ferdinand frowned. He looked nervous and had turned pale.
"Arabella, please excuse me for a bit. I need to be in my original body," Ferdinand vanished before she could reply.
Arabella waited for him to return but an entire hour passed, and he wasn’t back yet.
’I can feel Ferdinand’s presence coming from that direction,’ she glanced at part of the mansion where his dragon body was in.
