Chapter 454: They Were Made Incomplete
Chapter 454: They Were Made Incomplete
Arabella learned that Ferdinand was particular about it since he had been overhearing the knights and other people around him talking about those in low voices.
He heard that there were those who were left by their lovers or divorced by their wives because their thing down there could not function properly; most especially if they could not get a woman pregnant.
Ferdinand kept hearing people talk that a man’s value in their society now was also judged by whether they could sire a child or not.
Thus, he also ended up thinking he could be laughed at, divorced, or abandoned due to it. And he was more on edge now after Arabella told him about Eliana and he recalled that he was already left behind before because of such an issue.
He thought Eliana left him because they could not have children due to his body not working as it should have been.
"I swear I can make you pregnant. Something was lacking with me and all the other primordial dragons back then. It was already fixed so you don’t have to worry about anything," Ferdinand explained desperately while holding both of her hands.
[Right! It wasn’t my fault. It was that irresponsible bastard who failed to make us complete and functional!] Ferdinand internally complained.
He knew she wanted children, so he did not want her to know that he was once incapable of making someone pregnant in fear that she would doubt if he could do it now.
But since she already learned about it from her visions of the past, he didn’t want her to think he was the only one who was once incapable of siring a child.
"Yes, I never doubted your ability to impregnate me," Arabella tried to assure Ferdinand.
Why would she doubt him when they had Fermin in her previous life? But she felt bad for Ferdinand who had to feel so embarrassed and worried about it. If only he knew he was able to make her pregnant on their first night before.
’I want to tell him everything soon. But I feel like it’s still too early to say it. Please bear with me for a while.’
[Damn it! What’s with that look of pity? She doesn’t believe me, does she?] Ferdinand misunderstood her intentions. She wasn’t feeling bad for him because of what he thought.
[Should I do it with her and not use the barrier? Should I make her pregnant now? The others already succeeded so there’s no problem anymore. I am sure can do it too, right?] His confidence waned at the end.
"Ferdinand, we agreed to have children later. Don’t rush it now because you are worried about whether you can do it or not. You are so vigorous so I’m sure everything would work out perfectly fine. No need to rush things, alright?" Arabella cupped his face, trying to assure him. But he looked worse instead. Like he wanted to creep into a cave and hibernate until she forgets about this matter.
’Oh my. We can’t have that. He sleeps for too long. I’d be dead by then.’
[But what if I end up still unable to sire a child even when my body already functions just fine? Would she be disappointed that we couldn’t have children? Wouldn’t she leave me? Her eyes always looked so loving and gentle when she was speaking with children. I can tell she wanted to at least have one of her own someday. But if I can’t father a child, she would...] Ferdinand swallowed hard. He was thinking of the what if’s and turned pale at the thought that just like Eliana, Arabella would leave him too. [Damn it! It was all that bastard’s fault for forgetting about it.]
"Ferdinand, it’s okay. I know you can do it. But in case you can’t, I will still stay with you. I already promised to live with you, didn’t I? We can still live here, just the two of us."
Arabella would indeed feel so disappointed in case Fermin would not be born to them. But she would not leave Ferdinand. She had already promised things and she already liked him too much to leave him because they couldn’t have children.
"Y-You will still stay with me?!" Ferdinand was touched to the point that he was almost teary-eyed.
"Of course, I will," Arabella smiled, and Ferdinand’s eyes shined.
"Arabella!!!" he wrapped her in a tight embrace.
"That’s why I told you there’s no need to panic," Arabella stroked his hair.
"I love you. I love you so much," Ferdinand gave her such loving pecks on the forehead. He was so elated and relieved that she chose to still stay with him no matter what.
Ferdinand then explained what he meant when he said that he wasn’t created with that function at all.
The God of Dragons was apparently so focused on making them strong, sturdy, and long-lived compared to other races, that even though he made their body complete with the organs necessary for reproduction, he forgot to instill in them the need or desire to find a mate and reproduce. Likewise, he forgot to create them with the hormones related to sexual desire and sexual activity nor did they have the fluids necessary to make their mate pregnant.
Thus, they do not get sexually attracted even to someone they love nor does their body react even when touched. Their sexual organs were simply there as part of their body, but they were not functional.
The God of Dragons only realized what he missed when he examined them all after their destructive hibernation to check if they were missing important memories that would make them unable to live as they should or if their body got damaged as well. But he discovered instead why they never got a mate no matter how many times he told them to get one and have children.
Further, to the length of the primordial dragons’ lifespan, they were still quite young despite how long they had lived. Their humanoid forms apparently reveal how old they were when taken in human terms. Meaning, Ferdinand was still akin to someone in his early twenties even though he had already lived for so long.
It was no wonder that they also did not fall in love for a long time since it wasn’t time for them yet at that stage. They only reached the age of mating for dragons when they were able to have a humanoid form that looked like someone eighteen years old.
It meant Ferdinand was indeed just a child, someone akin to a toddler or even younger when he met Ellie since he could not even take human form.
And when Ferdinand began to raise the second generation of dragons, he was akin to just 15-16 years old even though he was already an ancient creation back then when judged by humans.
