Chapter 450: Extended Stay
Despite the unexpected hurdle, their honeymoon in Estrella was a success.
Getting the dreams about her past reincarnations meeting with Ferdinand ended up strengthening their bond even more instead of making them distant from each other or breaking them apart.
However, just when Arabella thought everything was finally as it should be, there was another unexpected problem they had to face.
An entire month passed by, but Alwin was not back yet. He did say it could extend depending on the situation, but he had been so confident he could even do what he was supposed to do there within just a week. Yet, an entire month went by, but he hadn’t returned.
Even Ferdinand got worried about it so he had instructed some of his people to prepare in case Alwin would request for backup or send an emergency message.
Alwin had gone alone despite Ferdinand and Raymond not liking it.
Alwin insisted since he could not show anyone else that he already knew about Evania’s real appearance because he had seen it in the past life. He was confident as well since he survived staying in Umbra for years in the past life.
Arabella and Ferdinand were supposed to go back to the human realm soon to visit Olivier Duchy to address the issue about Dimo, but Alwin was not back yet.
Alwin had warned her several times not to go back to the human realm if he was not back yet.
Likewise, Zion had reported two weeks ago that the attackers were roaming about in Eliora as if they were searching for something else aside from Lindon. Their goal was not verified yet, so Zion was still busy tailing them.
Riley was doing all of Alwin’s other work too while staying in Medeus guarding Arabella’s parents.
If they get Riley with them, her parents would be left unguarded. The Grand Palace of Medeus was close to the temple but the Pope and his magicians were busy too.
And Ferdinand didn’t want to assign another magician to Arabella whom she had never met before. He knew she already trusted Alwin and Riley because they had been with her quite a lot.
Further, Ferdinand was quite prideful and had high standards. He only wanted to assign his best cards to her. And when it comes to magicians, Alwin, Zion, and Riley were the bests.
Thus, he concluded they should wait a bit more for Alwin to return. After all, Alwin also told him to be wary and not allow Arabella to return to Riva while everyone’s hands were full.
Especially since she could do her work from the Imperial Palace in Estrella anyway.
Thus, their stay in Estrella was extended. Arabella had to redo her schedule and plans.
* * *
Getting a glimpse of Ferdinand’s past through her "dreams" also continued.
Arabella began to be annoyed with her "dreams" when it became too obvious that someone was deliberately making her see those memories so she would be angry and disappointed in Ferdinand or even hate him.
But after realizing that, she spent more quality time with Ferdinand instead. She wanted to cultivate her feelings and strengthen their bond further so she would not waver or be swayed no matter what memories of the past she would see next.
They had a lot of dates in his palace, the garden, and other places in his island.
They did not encounter anyone since Ferdinand had once again instructed everyone not to go wherever they went because he did not want any disturbance. He wanted her attention all to himself.
With Ferdinand this hungry for her attention in this life, Arabella could push back the memories she saw when he was not in the least bit interested in her as a woman in the past.
Moreover, in those "dreams," starting from the 15th reincarnation, there were times that Ferdinand seemed to have fallen for her too. He simply did not realize it because he never loved a lady romantically before that.
Likewise, back then, love and romance were something usually only between the same race. It was extremely rare to see people falling for someone outside of their own kind.
And for the younger Ferdinand, romance was something that only other races had. He never thought his kind was capable of it too, especially since there were just ten of them at the time and they were akin to siblings.
Thus, all the time, he thought what he felt for Arabella’s past reincarnations was just valuing someone as a friend or comrade. Or guilt and regret and a sense of responsibility after causing her death several times.
Arabella realized that maybe, that was one of the reasons Ferdinand did not recognize her soul, and could not remember, that those past lives were her.
If he had known before he fell for her, he would have likely decided to protect her in this life and watched her from afar again as she ended up getting married to Andrew or Icarus.
"Ferdinand, do you think this is truly the first time you fell in love? Do you think you truly have never fallen in love with anyone else before? Not even to the reincarnations before me?" Arabella tested her husband one day.
Ferdinand already knew love this time. He experienced it himself and admitted it. He had even received education from Raymond just for him to understand. He should be able to figure out now whether he had fallen in love before or not.
Ferdinand was silent for a long while as he reflected on his memories of the past.
Arabella remained silent and simply listened to his thoughts.
Ferdinand had met quite a lot of ladies in his long life, not only Ellie’s reincarnations. Thus, a lot of names and faces popped into his thoughts as he honestly tried to find an instance where he fell in love.
Arabella realized that her husband had lived much even longer than she thought. There were so many ladies he encountered to the extent that she concluded there was no point in getting jealous or insecure since she would only end up making herself crazy.
