Chapter 445: Accident
Chapter 445: Accident
The fire dragon was back, and he made more binding spells to prevent Eleanor from getting free. And without warning, he roared warning in their direction despite saying earlier that he wouldn’t hurt Eleanor.
’What kind of jerk is this?!’ Arabella fumed.
Ferdinand made an ice wall surround them to block the fire. Some cracked while the others melted but he simply made another layer until the fire dragon finally stopped.
"Why you! You could have killed her," Ferdinand barked.
"I knew you would protect her," the fire dragon grinned.
"You liar! I could have still died or gotten hurt from that! You said you wouldn’t hurt me," Eleanor screamed.
"Only if you behaved. But you weren’t behaving. You are not supposed to accept help from this fragile and breakable thing," the fire dragon gestured to Ferdinand to spite him.
’What?! How rude! Ferdinand is not fragile and breakable,’ Arabella was the one who got irritated by it.
"Says the bastard who only knew to spew fire and wreak havoc. If you are bored, go bother the others. I don’t have time for you at the moment. Acting like this just because you were ignored. How childish," Ferdinand scoffed, and the fire dragon was the one who got riled up instead.
"Hey, you are younger than me," the fire dragon prepared to launch an attack on Ferdinand, but Eleanor screamed.
"Please don’t fight here! The ground won’t be able to take it," she pointed out and the two followed her gaze. She was right. There were cracks on the grounds due to the attack earlier. Fire and ice made the rocks brittle.
Ferdinand and the fire dragon then glanced at each other and had a silent agreement. They both jump off the cliff and reverted to their human form.
Eleanor sighed in relief as the two got busy fighting. She didn’t care in the least bit who won among the two. What was important to her was her freedom. She tried to undo the binding spells but to no avail.
Arabella, meanwhile, couldn’t help getting nervous as she watched Ferdinand fight in his dragon form. This was the first time she saw him fight with someone of his kind and it was rather violent and scary. They were trying to bite off a part of each other while also using magic to defend and attack. And when they get the chance, they roar at the other.
Ferdinand was mainly using ice magic and ice breath, probably because it countered the fire dragon’s attacks. Or because he wasn’t experienced in other forms of magic yet. After all, earlier, he used an ice wall instead of a magic barrier to protect Eleanor.
Ferdinand and the fire dragon got so immersed in their fight that they seemed to have forgotten Eleanor was still there. They caused so much damage to their surroundings and flying debris was scattered here and there.
"You are always just using ice and frost. Have you forgotten to use fire," the fire dragon challenged Ferdinand probably because their fight was going nowhere since their attacks countered each other’s.
Ferdinand then began using fire and his flames were blue. It dragged on for quite a while and they caused more destruction to their surroundings. The fire dragon roared, and Ferdinand did as well. It caused a huge explosion.
"AHHHHHH!!!" Eleanor’s shrill scream resounded, and only then did they notice that the part where she was supposed to be, was blasted off.
Ferdinand and the fire dragon instantly flew in Eleanor’s direction and tried to find her through the rubbles of the explosion that were falling.
He found her by focusing on her presence. She was barely breathing, and she had burns here and there. She could not protect herself with magic because of the binding spell the fire dragon had cast.
"What should we do?" The firedragon asked in a panic and undid the binding spell. He had no plan to kill or harm Eleanor. He only wanted to use her to get Ferdinand’s attention and provoke him into a fight. He didn’t intend for it to end up like this.
They sensed Eleanor trying to heal herself, but she was too already weak and barely conscious for it to work.
"The water dragon! She healed my injuries before!" Ferdinand recalled.
Thus, they brought Eleanor to the water dragon’s island hoping she could be healed back to her health.
Arabella learned that back then, Ferdinand nor the fire dragon knew any healing spells. They never needed it because their bodies’ regeneration speed was so quick. When they get injured, it gradually heals on its own. They could hasten it by conserving mana. They did not need a healing spell. Moreover, they had both been solitary most of their lives. Thus, they did not need to use a healing spell to heal someone else.
Ferdinand and the fire dragon headed to the water dragon’s abode as fast as they could. However, they were too late. Even when the water dragon tried to heal Eleanor, there was no response because she passed away while they were on the way there.
Both Ferdinand and the fire dragon desperately asked the water dragon to keep trying but there was no response no matter how many times she tried.
Thus, the two had to accept the truth.
It was an accident. They did not know it would happen. But still, Eleanor died because of them.
Ferdinand and the fire dragon refused to accept it, but the water dragon scolded them both for involving someone in their fight.

Arabella woke up with a start after having such a dream. She frowned when she sat up and found that the space beside her was empty. Ferdinand wasn’t there not anywhere in the room.
’Where did he go? Who’s that fire dragon he fought with?! They caused my death like that when I was supposed to get married to an elf. How could they do that?’ Arabella fumed. She wasn’t in a good mood after seeing the past her, die like that.
