Chapter 444: Fire Dragon

Chapter 444: Fire Dragon

"What was that about?!" Ferdinand fumed. "That elf was infuriating. What was he trying to do? He pretended to not have noticed me all this time and only looked in my direction earlier after doing that thing I have seen humans do. So annoying! Maybe, I should kill that elf and tear him to pieces?"

’What?! No! Why would you?’ Arabella internally screamed.

’Wait, why is Ferdinand so annoyed? Is he interested in her and got jealous? Or was he simply annoyed because her lover provoked him?’

"But if I kill that man, those elves will likely follow me around. How bothersome. He seemed to be her companion too."

Arabella sighed in relief when Ferdinand decided not to kill the male elf.

"Should I just stop going there? When I sensed her presence from above, I thought she was Ara so I went to get a closer look. They did look alike but she was an elf, not a river nymph. I stayed to observe her in case Ara did not die and was using a disguise, but they were entirely different even though their presence was the same. Just like Ellie and Ara," Ferdinand sighed deeply.

’Oh, so he could sense that their presence was the same,’ Arabella listened intently.

She learned that Ferdinand once thought that Ellie and Ara could have been the same person, but as he stayed with Ara, he realized that she was entirely different. Ellie was a human while Ara was a nymph.

Their personalities differed too. Ellie was an adventurous and kind magician while Ara was a gentle and generous provider for those around her.

Even their size differed greatly as well since Ellie was around when humans and other races were all huge. Meanwhile, Ara was around after several generations when the sizes had grown so much smaller.

And now the girl who spoke to him that had the same presence as the two was an elf. And she seemed moody and rude, unlike Ellie and Ara who were both much calm and spoke kindly.

"Why do their presences feel the same?" Ferdinand wondered out loud before leaving his abode once again to hunt and let out his frustration.

In the following days, he did not go and see the elf. However, he was still bothered that her presence was the same as Ellie and Ara’s, so he eventually went to see her again.

The elves’ abode was quite far from his island, but it was easy for him since he could fly.

Ferdinand hid his presence much better this time, so he was not noticed by anyone. He simply watched from afar, as usual, observing the elf.

But then, one day, someone suddenly appeared beside Ferdinand. It was a man with red hair and eyes.

"Oh, so this was what you had been up to that you are not at your home," he smirked with a dangerous glint in his eyes.

Before Ferdinand could even reply, the man vanished and reappeared right beside the elf that Ferdinand had been observing. She was in the flower fields playing an instrument.

The man suddenly transformed into a red dragon and captured Ella before flying off with her in tow.

The elf’s scream resounded and alerted the elves.

"Eleanor!!!" her lover screamed as he tried to chase the red dragon.

’I see. Her name is Eleanor,’ Arabella noted.

"That fire bastard! Why is he involving her?" Ferdinand transformed and chased after the other dragon too.

’So he’s a fire dragon!’ Arabella perked up.

The other elves who also heard Eleanor’s scream and ran outside were horrified to see her being taken away by a dragon. They tried to follow as swiftly as they could, but the fire dragon upped his pace, and they were left behind.

Thankfully, Ferdinand was as swift, so he was able to follow the fire dragon even when it had a head start.

The fire dragon flew quite far from the elves’ abode and brought Eleanor to a rocky mountain range devoid of trees and plants. He went to one of the highest peaks and settled Eleanor there. He used binding magic to tie her to one of the boulders.

Eleanor paled since just a few steps off the boulder was a cliff.

"Who are you? Why are you doing this to me? I don’t recall doing anything to a dragon. Please return me home. I can’t die yet. I want to get married to my betrothed and have children," Eleanor complained when the fire dragon transformed into human form.

"That has nothing to do with me. Just behave and you won’t get hurt. You can’t use magic with this bind around you. I just need you here for a bit. But if you don’t behave, I can just leave you here to die. Ah, no I will burn you, so your companions won’t be able to come get you," the fire dragon grinned as if he didn’t just threaten Eleanor.

Ferdinand finally arrived and turned to his human form before landing on the ground.

"Her! What the hell are you doing? Why did you capture this elf?" Ferdinand asked with irritation in his voice.

"You’re still asking that? Isn’t it obvious? I couldn’t care less who or what she is. But you had been ignoring me just so you could stay hidden on that mountaintop watching this elf from afar?" the fire dragon intentionally tattled.

"What?! You had been watching me?" Eleanor frowned.

Ferdinand glared at the fire dragon, but his secret was already out. The fire dragon grinned proudly instead of being remorseful.

"You bastard!" Ferdinand quickly dashed forward and pushed the fire dragon off the cliff and used magic to push him further down.

Eleanor watched in horror, clearly thinking that the dragons were such violent species, easy to resort to killing each other instead of talking.

She paled as Ferdinand approached her.

"I’m so sorry, I was rude! Please don’t kill me!" Eleanor pleaded. She was quick to change her attitude.

"I won’t," Ferdinand undid the binding spell, but another appeared the instant the first one vanished.

The fire dragon was back, and he made more binding spells to prevent Eleanor from getting free. And without warning, he roared warning in their direction despite saying earlier that he wouldn’t hurt Eleanor.

’What kind of jerk is this?!’ Arabella fumed.
