Chapter 424: He Denied It At First
Chapter 424: He Denied It At First
Humans were unexpectedly almost able to wipe out the long-lived races. Perhaps Ferdinand could also find his end from them (or so he thought).
So, when he was sent to Valeria, he thought it was the perfect chance to find someone to kill him. He waited for years with nothing.
But one day, encountered Icarus who was so much stronger than the others. He thought maybe, it could be him. So, he met with Icarus several times to gauge his strength. It wasn’t his intention, but they ended up becoming close. And he realized that just like Raymond and Alwin, Icarus would not try to kill him.
So, he had to find another way to die. But instead, he found a reason to live in a fragile woman he happened to encounter.
And just like the other dragons, he simply knew, she was the one for him.
He denied it at first.
It was simply so unreasonable to like someone to that extent upon meeting them for the first time. But the more he gazed at her, the more he was certain.
She aroused his protective instincts so strongly. Seeing her tear-stained eyes and terrified expression made him feel like he was the worst existence in the world.
She almost died from one hit by a monster that was not even that strong. That made him so furious that he wanted to wipe out every monster out there.
He suddenly had the thought that instead of finding a way to die, he should have gone to her and protected her, so she would not have gotten exposed to such dangers.
It was such an unexpected thought. And yet, even more surprising thoughts crossed his mind.
He thought he would be willing to watch over her and keep her safe until the day she dies of old age. But then, he realized he hated the thought of her dying. He didn’t want her to die to the point he thought of sharing some of his lifespan with her on the very day he first met her.
Ferdinand wondered if his creator had used magic on him just to make him spawn a child. But he would have at least felt his presence or magic if he did something.
So why was he worrying about her so much to the point he was having such thoughts?
It was rather revolting for Ferdinand to suddenly have such thoughts for someone he just met. But he could not deny it no matter how many times he brooded over it.
He didn’t mind sharing his lifespan but due to former experiences by other dragons and long-lived races who got used, it was forbidden to share their lifespan with just anyone. It had to be their mate.
And when they were about to go their separate ways that day, he realized he didn’t want to part with her. He wanted to be able to keep looking at her.
Her smile was so enchanting that he couldn’t look away.
Her eyes were so dazzling that he wanted to keep gazing at them.
And he loved her scent very much to the point that he would have sniffed her closely if it wasn’t rude.
Raymond pointed out that he was staring too much. But Ferdinand couldn’t help it. His eyes went to her even if he tried thinking about something else. And he realized he liked looking at her very much. He could gaze at her for eons no matter what Raymond said.
He was still very much conflicted about what to do, but Ferdinand had this feeling that he would regret it for the rest of his life if he didn’t pursue her.
If someone out there was truly meant for him, if it was her, he realized he was willing to try marriage. And mating as well, for that matter.
Thus, he decided to marry her, keep her safe for the rest of his life, and prolong her lifespan if she agreed.
Maybe, he would even fulfill the reason why he was sent to Valeria. Despite having no plans to have children at all, he suddenly thought that it was with her, maybe, having a child wasn’t so bad. He even imagined a child that looked like her and it was simply too adorable. He didn’t mind raising a child with her.
Ferdinand’s thoughts and imagination deviated from how he usually was and went crazy from then on.
Feelings and urges he never had before blossomed and unexpectedly grew too strong beyond his control.
His patience grew thin several times too, even though a human lifespan should have been so short for him that waiting should have been easy.
But waiting for the time to propose to her was difficult. Waiting for their wedding day was even more so. And waiting for her to finally accept him was torture.
But thankfully, it all happened. His patience was greatly rewarded. And he was happier about it than he thought.
He could see her smile and laugh every single day, and it gave him satisfaction and joy he never felt before.
And she even accepted the lust that he dreaded.
Ferdinand was once a stranger to lusting for someone. He never desired to mate before.
His ministers in Riva even thought that maybe, he was incapable of producing an heir since the butlers they had sent work for him had never seen a single erection from him.
Even Raymond began to worry that maybe, even when Ferdinand was given a human body that should have begun having such things at a certain age, he was still too true to himself as a primordial dragon who didn’t have such desires.
His human body did begin having erections at a certain age. But he was simply good at hiding it. And he disciplined his body since he didn’t like having such bothersome things.
Still, it was true that he didn’t have interest or reactions to ladies which they said he should have begun to have at the same time those erections began.
Who knew they had nothing to worry about since it began all too suddenly when he met Arabella? And because it was new to him, it was all the more, harder to control.
Ferdinand sighed deeply as he watched his sleeping wife. She was simply so breathtaking no matter what she did. She was too pretty and adorable even in her sleep.
And her slightly parted lips were so seductive. He couldn’t help himself and kissed her.
There was no reaction. She was sound asleep.
Ferdinand scolded himself to behave and not disturb her. It was his fault she was sleeping this soundly after all.
He shouldn’t be too greedy, or she might get tired of him. He will never forget the time she asked Raymond and Alwin to help her get a divorce from him.
Arabella had said she wouldn’t do that again, but he kept fearing it.
