Chapter 425: I Won’t Go Anywhere
Chapter 425: I Won’t Go Anywhere
If Ferdinand was being honest, he had been nervous every single day even after marrying Arabella.
He feared losing her to someone else. He got jealous and envious of the people she spent time with.
If it was up to him, he wanted her all for himself to adore. He would not allow her to mingle with other people and have her holed up here in his palace in Estrella. He would not even let anyone else lay their eyes on her nor get a single whiff of her scent.
But he felt that doing so would not make her happy. Thus, he had to live the way everyone does and observe what makes her happy.
Earlier, he was so relieved that marking her as his mate was finally completed. He felt so much bliss and pleasure from finally consummating with her that he ended up falling asleep so soundly for about two hours.
He didn’t hear a single sound even though he should have heard the twittering of birds or the moving about of other people in the palace.
Perhaps it was why had awakened with a start and suddenly had a bad feeling. He instantly tensed and almost panicked when he realized the light weight of Arabella’s head on his arm and the soft warmth of her body against him were gone.
But thankfully, when he opened his eyes, she had merely rolled over in her sleep and was almost at the edge of the bed.
Ferdinand carried her to the center again and she did not even stir. He had completely exhausted her due to his desires.
Ferdinand thought that once he goes all the way with her, his almost uncontrollable hunger and thirst for her would subside. But it didn’t. He felt euphoric from doing it with her several times. And he did feel an incredible sense of satisfaction. But nothing subsided.
Did Raymond lie to him?
Raymond said his urges would begin to calm down after the consummation.
But instead, he felt like his hunger and thirst for Arabella only got worst. He wanted to do it with her again, but she was sleeping so soundly so he didn’t dare wake her.
Ferdinand wanted to do her over and over again until she was completely smeared with his scent in every part of her body.
He wanted to bite her several times more too, but it might become dangerous for her, so he settled with just once.
Giving her more of his mana would riddle her with more of his scent too, but he had to give her some bit by bit so her body would not be overwhelmed.
Ferdinand planned to give her as much of his mana as her body would accept to strengthen her. He didn’t want to lose her to sickness, old age, or anything else.
He suddenly had something, someone, he desperately wanted. And it was rather so ironic that he found a reason to live, in someone with such a fragile body and a short lifespan. Thankfully, Arabella had agreed for her lifespan to be extended.
But her life is still too short.
How long could he prolong her life?
The more he treasured her, the more he feared losing her.
Would he have to watch her die someday too?
Would he have to watch her crumble to ashes?
If he had children with her, would he have to watch them die too?
It was such a dreadful thought that his body involuntarily shivered. He scooted closer to Arabella and hugged her tight.
He didn’t want to lose her ever. Nor their future children.
Ferdinand was so happy earlier, but now, his fears gnawed at him that he wasn’t able to sleep again.
* * *
Arabella slept so soundly for hours and woke up when she felt her throat was dry. She needed some water, but she was still too sleepy.
She felt too lazy to wake up, so she ignored it and tried to sleep. But she couldn’t. Her throat bothered her, so she fluttered her eyes open despite her heavy eyelids.
She felt a gaze on her, so she turned to her side.
Ferdinand was awake and he was staring at her.
"You should sleep more," he said in such a gentle voice that she wondered if she was dreaming.
Some of her hair fell and covered a bit of her face. Ferdinand tucked the locks behind her ear. His warm hand fingers grazed her. She wasn’t dreaming.
"I need water first," she replied sleepily and yawned.
"Oh, I’ll get some," he helped her sit up and fetched a glass of water for her.
Arabella drank it all and finally felt rehydrated. She looked around and all the curtains were shut. The room was dark too, except for the small light from a dim magic lamp.
She heard from her husband’s thoughts that he used magic to ensure the room remained dark and silent so she could sleep well.
He’s such a sweet guy. She wondered why she even thought otherwise before.
’But why was he awake instead of sleeping?’
"Why are you awake? You should sleep too."
"I will. I was just so happy that I couldn’t sleep," Ferdinand gave her a peck and caressed her cheek.
[I am so happy that I got scared she will be gone when I wake up. That the source of this unexpected bliss I am feeling for the first time will be gone. So, I kept watching her sleep after waking up hours ago. She was so adorable even in her sleep that it was always fun to watch her.]
’What?! I slept so soundly too. And he was awake all that time?’
She was used to him watching her by now. He had such perverted tendencies sometimes that she doesn’t mind anymore. But she was worried about his health. He was still in his human body so he shouldn’t abuse it either.
"Ferdinand, you should rest too. I won’t go anywhere. Even if I wake up first, I’ll just stay in this room. No, I won’t even leave the bed and just hug you," she assured him.
She understood his paranoia since she understood by now that the more people and memories you cherish, the more the fears grow about losing them.
"You will?"
"Yes, I promise," she lay down and wrapped an arm around his waist. "I won’t go anywhere."
"Then, I’ll do my best to sleep," Ferdinand scooted closer and wrapped an arm around her too. He settled his face just above her head so he could smell her hair. He said it soothed him.
[I feel better with just a few words from her. How does she even do it? Is this some kind of magic?] Ferdinand wondered and she giggled.
Arabella waited for Ferdinand to doze off too before sleeping again.
