Chapter 289: In Alwin’s Garden

Arabella and Ferdinand also went to the flower garden nearby the lake which was filled with fireflies the last time she was there.

The flower garden was even more breathtaking in daylight. All sorts of beautiful flowers she had never seen in Eliora were there. And it was wider than she previously thought.

"What about the garden where Alwin grows Ofelia flowers?" Arabella inquired. She had been curious about it for a while.

"Ah, it’s on the other side. He’s growing it indoors," Ferdinand said and teleported them since it was quite far from where they were.

Arabella blinked repeatedly as she was greeted by a wide building separate from the palace. Ferdinand used magic to open the doors.

"Wow! It’s filled with Ofelia flowers," Arabella gasped. The whole building was full of Ofelia flowers inside and it was beautifully arranged. Alwin has quite the aesthetic.

The roof was transparent. It looked like glass but it was something else.

Ferdinand said it was made of magic and captures the sunlight and moonlight and equally distributes it to the plants.

The garden was vast and all of it was Ofelia flowers.

’There’s actually so much of it and yet Alwin was being stingy with the tea. Just what was he trying to do? Stock up Ofelia tea for Ferdinand for several thousand years?’

If Arabella wasn’t Ferdinand’s wife, Alwin wouldn’t have given her any. Even Raymond cannot get a single box.

Even Arabella gets most of her supply of Ofelia tea directly from Ferdinand since Alwin always takes too long to give her even a single box.

Ferdinand gives her the supply that was supposed to be for him since Alwin quickly restocks his.

’Hmph. Now that I know there’s this much supply of Ofelia flowers, I won’t hold back on the tea.’

Arabella had been drinking it alternately with other teas so her supply won’t get used up quickly. But now, she would drink it as much as she pleased.

[Who dares enter my garden without permission?!]

Arabella suddenly heard Alwin’s thoughts and turned around.

Ferdinand did as well since he sensed Alwin teleport near them.

Alwin stood at the entrance and was surprised to see it was Arabella and Ferdinand who intruded into his garden.

"Did you have something to report?" Ferdinand thought it was because of something urgent.

"Ah, no. I was about to water the flowers since it’s almost sunset," Alwin reasoned.

He just returned home though because he thought someone entered his precious garden without telling him.

Arabella smiled at Alwin and he flinched.

[Right. It must have been her. My lord never even visited this garden ever since I made it. She must have asked to see the Ofelia flowers.]

’Exactly.’

Arabella wasn’t in the least bit feeling guilty. Maybe, a bit since Alwin even returned all the way from Medeus.

Alwin apparently used a spell on the door so only he and the people he had permitted could enter. Ferdinand deactivated the spell so they could enter.

Her husband never got the permit to enter it since he never visited it in the first place.

At least her wish to see the Ofelia flowers made Ferdinand finally come to visit the garden Alwin made with him in mind.

"Alwin, you’re an elf, right?"

They had suspiciously not encountered any Estrellians in Ferdiand’s palace so Arabella figured Ferdinand told them not to show themselves while they were touring around.

[Ah, my lord already told her.]

"Yes, Your Majesty."

"Can I see you in your original form? I’m curious what a real elf looks like," Arabella’s curiosity got the best of her.

She had seen Alwin as an elf but only from her memories. She wanted to see the real thing. And it was a also way to verify if it was indeed Alwin in her memories.

Alwin said a spell and his appearance slowly changed. His aura grew so much more powerful than usual and Ferdinand made a barrier around Arabella to protect her from Alwin’s mana.

’It’s really him!’

The appearance was exactly the same as the one she saw in her memories.

Elves do not age quickly so his appearance now would be the same even after two decades.

Arabella couldn’t help but gawk. Alwin indeed looked so much prettier and divine in his original form. His long elf ears were so adorable and his hair was longer.

"So beautiful. If you were a woman, all of Eliora, no, even the other continents would fight for your hand," Arabella thought out loud.

"I would never wish to be a woman," Alwin hit back quickly.

"Right. My apologies. Of course, as a man, it would be ladies who would be fighting for your hand," Arabella corrected. He was simply too beautiful that he could easily be mistaken as a woman.

"I am not interested either."

[As expected of humans. She’s so attached to appearances.] Alwin thought.

’Hmph. You can think that since you had been the same beautiful elf since how many thousand years ago. We, humans, become old and wrinkled in less than a hundred years.’

Elves could maintain the appearance of their choice until the day they die.

Not that Arabella was bitter about it. She had grown older once so she doesn’t really mind aging. She rather preferred her more mature look than her current innocent and naive-looking appearance.

[She asked to see his true form before mine. And she’s so enthralled with seeing his real appearance. I would never get this kind of reaction since my original form would be terrifying to her.] Ferdinand thought.

Arabella flinched when she heard her husband sulk internally. She wrapped her arms around his to stop him from thinking she preferred Alwin.

"Blanca would surely love you even more once she sees this appearance," she decided to tease Alwin and pair him up with Blanca so Ferdinand would not be jealous of him.

"Ugh, Your Majesty, I believe you have a clue of my age by now. Blanca is too young for me. And she’s just a kid at heart. I have no interest in her at all," Alwin instantly shut it down.
