Chapter 290: Ferdinand’s Dragon Form [Bonus Chapter]
"Is that so? Then, would you like a human instead? I can help you find a lady if you want to. Didn’t you tag along to Valeria so you can also find a spouse?" Arabella recalled what Ferdinand told her.
Long-lived races had accepted that humans mature and age much faster which was why they could finally accept marrying a human.
It was very rare for long-lived races to marry humans in the past. Like, one in a hundred thousand chance and they only had a population of a million during their peak in the past.
[Ah, my lord even told her about that.]
"I didn’t go to Valeria to find a spouse. I simply went there to be of use to His Majesty," ALwin countered.
"That may be the case, but shouldn’t you find a spouse indeed? You are old enough to be married now, Alwin. I told you last time too," Ferdinand finally decided to speak again.
"I’m not ready to get married yet, my lord. I will take my time looking for my mate," Alwin reasoned.
"Ah, what a pity. And here I thought I could be your matchmaker. You are akin to Ferdinand’s child after all so I’m like your mother or something like that. I have to ensure you have a good spouse," Arabella said and Alwin looked like he could puke after what he just heard.
[Her as my mother? Never! And Young Master would probably cry if he heard this. He was quite happy with being an only son that got pampered by her.]
’Oh, Fermin was?’ Arabella recalled how adorable Fermin was when he wanted more of her attention.
[Ah, she just thinks of Alwin akin to a son? Does this mean I don’t have to be wary of Alwin anymore?]
Ferdinand was conflicted but he decided to still be careful so Arabella won’t fall for Alwin instead of him.
"Alright then. But you should seriously consider marriage soon. My wife is even willing to help you find a spouse. You are indeed akin to her son after all," Ferdinand put emphasis on the last part.
Ferdinand was trying to tell Alwin that he has zero chance with Arabella since she sees him as a son. Alwin would never like her in a romantic way though so there was no need for the warning.
[His Majesty thinks of me like his son?!] Alwin missed the point and only heard what he wanted to hear.
’Did Ferdinand never shower him with some affection when he was a child?’
Now she felt bad for Alwin.
"Would you like to see my dragon form?" Ferdinand asked out of nowhere.
[She saw Alwin’s true form first when she should have seen mine first.]
"Yes! Of course! I’d love to," Arabella instantly responded. The Ferdinand in front of her right now was only a part of the whole. She’d love to see the real Ferdinand this time.
[Her eyes are shining. I’m happy that she’s this excited to see my real original form, but the more she expects, the more she would get disappointed once she sees I look terrifying.]
Ferdinand wanted to take back his offer but he already said it so he had no choice. He was nervous as he explained that he would teleport her where his body was.
[My lord let his guard down too much because Her Majesty is reacting well. But what about once she sees his true form? A huge dragon that didn’t look close to a human at all. If she reacts negatively, my lord would only get hurt. Is this really alright? What if she suddenly decides to divorce him once she sees his real body?]
Alwin wanted to stop them from going but Ferdinand had already decided so he followed after them instead.
Ferdinand made several layers of protective barrier around Arabella’s body since the mana oozing from his real body would be too much for her. Especially since he hadn’t marked her yet.
He also put a blindfold on her eyes before teleporting them.
[Am I really going to do this? What if she gets too terrified of my dragon form and decides to divorce me? I didn’t think this through. Maybe, I should postpone it for later once she likes me more.]
Her husband was having second thoughts but they were already right in front of his dragon form.
Arabella had felt the air change the instant they arrived. She could feel powerful energy. It felt ancient. And even with the blindfold, she could see a tremendously strong aura in front of her.
She doesn’t even know how this was possible but she could indeed see the aura. She undid the blindfold herself before Ferdinand changes his mind.
Arabella gasped in surprise at the sight that greeted her.
This was so much bigger than the one she saw in her dream. This was about ten times the size of Ferdinand’s dragon form she saw in her dream.
A gargantuan silver dragon with his eyes closed and his wings spread open.
He wasn’t in a sleeping position but was standing in a walking position instead as if he was preparing to take flight. His wingspan was so wide. It occupied the entire room.
The silver dragon in front of her oozed with so much power and mystical aura. She could tell he was indeed a creation that had far surpassed what humans could perceive.
’This is Ferdinand?!’
It made her wonder if it was alright for her, a mere human with nothing special to be married to such a being that had transcended human understanding.
Would she ever truly be able to understand this being?
Still, in the end, Ferdinand had chosen to be with her. It’s what he thinks that matters. And it’s too late to back out now.
Arabella didn’t want her memories of this and all the things she just learned today to be erased.
Ferdinand’s dragon form was so much more majestic, overpowering, terrifying, and awe-inspiring all at the same time.
The young Dimo was right. Dragons were terrifying but they look so cool at the same time.
