Chapter 283: There Was No Victor

Chapter 283: There Was No Victor

The First Generation of Dragons realized that something was wrong with them. It was in the way they were created. Thus, they prayed to the God of Dragons to allow their lives to end.

But who would willingly end their creation’s life when the time for their death has not yet come?

The God of Dragons refused to end their lives despite their lack of will to continue living. He also said that he had been telling them to reproduce but they never listened so he won’t listen to them as well.

The First Generation then resolved to act on it themselves. Since the God of Dragons didn’t pay much attention to them anyway, they refused to listen to him as well.

After all, it was his fault that they were not interested in procreating. If he had created them with that instinct and desire to preserve their kind, they probably had a lot of children by now. It was his fault in the first place so they didn’t want to be blamed for it.

Moreover, why do they need to reproduce when the Second Generation already did their role well? There were already a lot of dragons when compared to their number in the past.

Likewise, the First Generation didn’t really care about anything anymore. They were no longer interested in doing anything. Not even living. They simply wanted to stop existing.

It was probably due to their long life that seemed to be never-ending. They were mentally exhausted even if their bodies were still strong and healthy.

Thus, the solution they decided to was to try killing each other. The First Generation then fought with each other with the aim to kill their opponent.

The fight lasted for several years. The earth was ravaged, the seas dried up, and there were disasters caused by their powers everywhere. The world was laid to waste. But not a single dragon from the First Generation died.

After all, contrary to their wish to die, their instinct to fight back and survive overpowered their will to die. Once an attack was coming, they always instinctively fought back, instead of just receiving a death blow.

It was then that they realized that through their awfully long lives, they had gained far too much power and strength that even killing each other was difficult. Their powers and the length of their lifespan were almost god-like and even the gods became wary.

None of the ten dragons died but the gods decided to interfere because their creations were dying due to the fight of the First Generation for liberation from life.

The gods cannot end their lives but they could grant them a long slumber that would allow them to die someday.

Since they cannot interfere directly, the First Generation of dragons was sealed by the power of the gods through the leaders of each long-lived race.

Ferdinand and his fellows fell into hibernation which slowly decreased their powers and strength over time and destroyed their memories.

The longer they continue sleeping, the more their strength and lifespan diminish and the more they forget about past experiences and lessons.

It was curse-like sleep that they gladly welcomed for liberation.

The God of Dragons and the rest of the dragons lamented it. They were all against it but it was the First Generations’ choice. There was nothing more they could do when the ten First Generation of dragons themselves decided to die.

They went into hibernation without waking up ever again hoping that they would cease to exist someday.

Several thousands of years passed and all creations flourished once again. The dragon race still ruled since they were the most knowledgeable and the strongest. Elves and other races assisted them. There were humans too.

However, there was a growing unrest among the humans. The dragons, elves, and other long-lived beings were too unchanging and traditional.

The humans had long changed and the policies that the dragons and the long-live races employ were not fit for those who had short lifespans as they did in the olden times.

Humans tried to ask for changes in the policies but the long-lived races did not welcome it.

The long-lived races did not feel like much time had passed at all. They failed to see the perspective of the humans while the humans failed to see theirs and thought they were just lazing around and doing nothing.

The misunderstanding on both sides grew through time.

Soon, the human race then staged revolts repeatedly. But they were always overpowered by the overwhelming strength of the dragons and the other long-lived races that ruled with them.

Until one day, witty humans plotted to end the rule of the dragons and eliminate the long-lived races in the ruling class. The ruling class mostly comprised dragons and elves so they were the primary target.

Dragons and the long-lived races were powerful but they were few in number compared to the human races which had a billion in population.

The long-lived races as a whole at the time were just a million. Dragons were in the hundreds and elves were in the thousands.

Humans from various parts of the world united and helped each other to plot the downfall of long-lived races. This event was then called the Great War between humans and the long-lived races.

And the humans miraculously succeeded because the long-lived races were not on guard against the short-lived and weak humans.

All the dragons almost died. Only ten males and one female survived. The elves and the rest of the long-lived races’ population were greatly diminished as well. Only hundreds of elves were left from the thousands they once had.

From a million, the population of the long-lived races dropped to a hundred thousand. And due to the death of their comrades and loved ones, most of them went berserk and almost eliminated all of humanity before self-destructing to follow their loved ones in death.

It was called the Great War but it was more like an extensive genocide on both sides that only led to losses. There was no victor as both sides had lost too much.

A/N:

Hi everyone!

April is almost over. The end of this month commemorates the 6th month I have been writing every single day for this story. Yep, that’s right. Even if I didn’t upload, I wrote for this book every single day since November 2022.

I was suffering from depression when I began writing this book so I’m really very much thankful to everyone who had been supporting this book from the start.

Your comments, golden tickets, power votes, gifts, summoning pens, and unlocks helped me get through a very difficult time in my life when I thought of ending my life every single day.

I spent that negative energy on writing instead so as you can see, the beginning of this book was like that. I think, among my other books this was the only one where the main character ended her life due to exhaustion and numbness brought about by pain and suffering and gradually losing interest and motivation in life.

At that time, I was actually feeling that way and it reflected in my writing.

Thankfully, although I still have a lot of troubles and challenges right now, I am feeling so much better and looking at all the positives I could in life.

Thank you very much for all your good words.

After experiencing such a dark time, I highly encourage everyone to speak positively to others whether in person or online. You never know how much your words can break or heal someone.

If any of you is feeling depressed, hopeless, or suicidal this time, I hope you seek help from others. There is always a ray of hope somewhere. Please don’t give up. You deserve better in life and one day, your happiness will come too.

Wish with all your heart that better times would come. And someday, it would. Just as it did for me. Not all your problems would be solved right away but things will get better. Continue holding on, I’m sure, good things will come your way too.

Sorry for the long note.

I just wanted to say this.

I am truly very much grateful to everyone supporting this book.
