Chapter 281: For Now, You Are Mine Alone [Bonus Chapter]

"Please don’t misunderstand. It’s just..." Arabella blushed.

"I... I haven’t been able to bathe and cleanse myself for three days so please leave me alone for a bit. I have to clean up first," her face was red with embarrassment by the time she was done explaining.

[Ah, so that was it. I still can’t stop myself from overthinking things.] Ferdinand sighed in relief.

"Your maids cleansed you when we were in Medeus. And I cleansed you with magic while we are here."

Arabella blinked twice, "You can do that with magic too? How convenient."

"Yes."

Ferdinand had been embracing her so tightly earlier so she was worried she might have smelled bad. She sniffed her hair and her clothes and she didn’t stink one bit.

Arabella sighed in relief. But she still needed her to bathe and cleanse herself before Ferdinand decides to get more touchy.

[She’s so cute with her face all red. Is she being shy right now? It makes me want to tease her.] Ferdinand smiled and he had a playful look on his face.

’Huh? What’s he planning to do?’

Arabella flinched when Ferdinand rose. She could tell he was about to do something so she tried to avoid him and backed away.

But Ferdinand easily closed the distance with his long strides and he caught her in his arms.

"What are you doing?" Arabella tried to free herself but he trapped her in his arms and buried his face in the crook of her neck.

"See? You still smell really nice. What are you embarrassed about?" he nuzzled at her neck and even gave her a kiss.

Arabella shivered. She would have been fine with this if not for the fact that she still wanted a bath. She wanted to feel fresh before doing something like this. Not that she felt sweaty or anything.

"Ferdinand, seriously. Stop this. Later, okay?" Arabella covered his mouth with her palm. She flinched when he kissed her palm instead. "Ferdinand!"

[Haha. She’s so cute. I want to tease her more. But she might get mad if I go further.]

"Alright. I’ll have one of your maids sent here to assist you," Ferdinand finally stopped.

A few minutes after he left, Aletha knocked on the door.

"Your Majesty!!" Aletha was teary-eyed and gave her a tight hug. "I was so worried. Are you truly alright now? Do you feel pain anywhere?"

Aletha had a lot of questions for her too as she eyed her from head to foot.

"Thank goodness you are finally awake," Aletha sighed in relief upon ensuring she was truly alright.

Aletha told her that she looked way too pale when she got poisoned. But now, her normal color has finally returned.

Her parents and older brother had apparently been with them in the mansion watching over her when she was unconscious in Medeus.

But once she was relocated to heal her more effectively, everyone focused on the investigation of who poisoned her.

"Are my parents informed that I am well now?"

"Yes, Your Majesty. His Eminence went to inform them," Aletha replied and Arabella sighed in relief. She didn’t want them to worry too much.

Aletha then assisted her with bathing and dressing up.

. . .

Ferdinand was back in the room the instant Aletha left.

"Don’t tell me, you have been waiting by the door this whole time?" Arabella narrowed her eyes at her husband and he looked away. He was thinking of what lies to spout but decided to just go with the truth.

"You may not have fully recovered yet. What if something happened to you? I have to be close by to ensure you are safe," Ferdinand reasoned and sighed.

He prepared himself to get scolded but Arabella giggled instead.

"Alright, alright. Come here," she opened her arms. She could hug and kiss him as long as he wanted now.

Ferdinand gulped. He walked to her and instead of letting her embrace him, he bent down and carried her. He sat down on the couch and settled her on his lap.

Arabella smiled and kissed him first. She simply loved the surprised look on his face and the redness of his ears.

"So, is this supposed to be my room here?" she inquired.

"Ah, this is my room. Your room is right beside this. I had it prepared but I’m not sure you would like it. I also didn’t want others to see it before you do, so I brought you here in my room first," Ferdinand suddenly looked shy. She wondered how he had her room decorated.

"I see. No wonder this room is so wide. It fits you."

The colors and design were simple but regal. They designed it based on Ferdinand’s tastes.

"I will show you to your room later. But stay here in the meantime. I have to ensure you are truly well."

Ferdinand was still worried even though he had examined her again right when he entered the room.

"When will we go back to Medeus?" Their work might be piling up.

[Is she that eager to live? Does she not like my room? I have to show her around soon so she won’t think this whole place is as simple as my room. I didn’t like unnecessary decorations so I had the others removed last time. Now that I think about it, my room here looks a bit too bare when compared to how grand my room was in Valeria. She must think it’s boring.]

’That’s not my point though. I was just wondering about how everyone was doing after the poisoning attempt. And the work. It must have piled up by now.’

"Until I am sure you are healthy enough. You haven’t eaten for three days so the chefs are preparing your meal. I told them to bring it here once it’s ready. For now, you are mine alone," Ferdinand said and eyed her.

’Oh my! That look in his eyes,’ Arabella gulped. She just felt her heart skip a beat at the way he gazed at her. She knew what was coming next.

Ferdinand cupped her face and kissed her forehead first. Then her cheeks and nose. He gazed deep into her eyes before finally kissing her on the lips.

A/N:

I’m feeling a bit better after sleeping 10 hours a day for 3 days. I usually sleep 4-6 hours a day so my back ached in turn now that I stayed in bed for long. I feel like I’m getting old. Haha
