Chapter 160: Second Date [Bonus Chapter]

Arabella honestly felt bad for her husband. The past few days, every time he walked Arabella to her room, Ferdinand reluctantly left after kissing her goodnight.

But it was Raymond who completely prohibited Ferdinand from entering her room. It made things difficult for Ferdinand since he liked sleeping beside her.

Staying by her side at night and being able to hug her while she was sleeping apparently comforted him. So now that he couldn’t, even though he was in the palace, it was making him miss her more.

Ferdinand cupped her face and gazed at her. The longing in his eyes was so strong. Just looking at his eyes made her want to hug him and give him some kisses to make him feel a bit better.

Arabella was wide-eyed when he caressed her lips with his thumb. He leaned in to kiss her.

Conscious of the other people with them, she turned away and glanced at Rendell and her maids.

They bowed and turned in another direction understanding she wanted some privacy.

Ferdinand misunderstood her though.

[She doesn’t want to kiss me?!]

"Don’t just kiss me in front of other people or when there are people who could see us," she whispered to correct his misunderstanding.

"You are my wife," Ferdinand reasoned. He even pouted.

’Haha. He’s so cute. But that won’t work on me.’

"I know. But still, no. You are the Emperor. Follow the social norms," she reminded.

[She just doesn’t want to kiss me, does she? Did she change her mind because she was disappointed in me?]

’Geez. He’s such a handful.’

Yet, she wondered why she couldn’t help but find his actions somewhat adorable.

Arabella looped her arms around his neck so Ferdinand would stop thinking she was rejecting him. His muscles tensed up at her touch. His ears slightly reddened. And he gulped.

[Is she saying I can kiss her as long as the servants are not looking?]

’Yes, that’s right.’

Ferdinand slowly snaked an arm around her waist and leaned in, watching her every reaction. He was relieved when she didn’t turn away or stop him.

Arabella leaned in too until their lips were almost touching. Ferdinand gulped. He gave in to the temptation and closed the gap between them.

His lips felt soft on hers and his body was so warm. She had been getting good night kisses from Ferdinand ever since Raymond prohibited him from sleeping in her room. So she thought he would just kiss her the way he did yesterday and the other nights.

But then...

’Eh? When is he going to stop?’

This wasn’t like the goodnight kisses from the previous days.

Ferdinand’s arm tightened around her waist and he put more pressure on her lips. His lip’s lingered on hers and he was more intense.

She could feel how much he missed her so she didn’t resist and kissed him back. But when he tried to initiate an even deeper kiss, Arabella denied him.

[She doesn’t miss me at all.] Ferdinand once again had a forlorn look on his face but she didn’t relent.

"Later. Let’s continue later once we go to that place you are talking about," Arabella whispered in his ear and it reddened.

"Is that a promise?" Ferdinand was hopeful.

"Yes," she couldn’t help but giggle at the look on his face.

"Don’t laugh," Ferdinand was embarrassed.

"I’m sorry. I just thought you can also look so cute," Arabella responded and he was even more embarrassed. It was the first time someone said he was so cute.

[I really cannot figure out what she’s thinking. How can she say I’m cute? I’m huge and scary to everyone.] Ferdinand was puzzled at her choice of words. He thought she was probably making fun of him.

Arabella slept soundly for several hours. When she was up, she only had light snacks since lunchtime would be ready soon.

She did a bit of work in her office and checked the profiles of her assistants once again to ensure that the work she would assign to them was what they were best at.

It was the most efficient way to work quickly since there was always a lot of work to do in the Imperial Palace.

An hour and a half later, just as she was about to head to the dining hall since it was time for lunch, Ferdinand came to pick her up.

He offered to have their lunch be brought where he wanted to bring her since he thought she would be able to enjoy her meal more with a good view.

Arabella agreed and Ferdinand covered her eyes with a soft ribbon before they teleported.

"..."

She felt the change in environment. She could tell they were outside since she could feel the breeze. There was also a fragrant scent.

Arabella flinched when she heard the sound of flowing water. She embraced Ferdinand’s arm when she thought that he could have possibly brought her into the middle of a river this time.

’Did he forget I can’t swim?’

But then again, she wouldn’t be so scared if it was not dark.

[She’s holding unto my arm so tightly. She’s scared just by the sound of the water?]

"I’m not scared if that’s what your thinking. I just thought I might trip," Arabella said in embarrassment.

She pouted when she heard Ferdinand chuckle lightly.

He gave her a peck and undid her blindfold.

Arabella gasped at the sight in front of her. They were in the middle of a flower garden. No wonder there was a fragrant scent.

All the flowers were in full bloom and they were dancing with the gentle breeze.

Ferdinand kept in mind that she liked flowers.

Not far ahead, she easily spotted the source of the sound she heard earlier.

There was a creek that flowed slowly. No wonder the sound wasn’t loud.

It was crystal clear and she could see that water was shallow. She wouldn’t be scared if it was like this.

Did Ferdinand also think about it which was why he picked this location?

[She doesn’t seem to be scared now.] Ferdinand thought and Arabella learned he indeed chose this in consideration of her fear of drowning.
