Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress -
Chapter 159: A Tempting Thought
Chapter 159: A Tempting Thought
It’s true they had a lot of work to do but Arabella would not say no to a date with Ferdinand. Especially when he was planning to bring her somewhere nice.
She would gladly grab the opportunity for a date especially since Ferdinand was taking the initiative. Who knows, he might just tell her the truth of his identity on their date too.
Moreover, improving their relationship takes priority. After all, she worked just fine as the Empress in her past life. But due to their failed relationship, everything went awry.
As the key figures in the Empire, it was important that their relationship was good since whatever happened to their relationship would greatly impact Valeria.
Likewise, a time just for the two of them was also necessary every now and then. Especially with the yearly assembly in Medeus coming up. They would be busy with preparations soon.
Without teleportation, they would have had began traveling to Medeus by now due to the supposedly long journey. But thanks to Alwin, they could travel later to Medeus at a later date.
. . .
Arabella remained silent as they walked to her room to give her husband the chance to speak.
She waited for Ferdinand to invite her on a date.
But he remained silent the entire time as well, still debating in his mind whether he should ask her now or later after she had some sleep.
They ended up silent as they walked to her room.
Arabella glanced at Ferdinand once they were in front of her door.
She was getting sleepy so could no longer wait until he makes up his mind to ask her on a date or not yet. He can just ask her tomorrow.
’We are already here?’ Ferdinand flinched when he realized he had lost the chance to speak with her due to hesitating too much.
They could have talked about all sorts of things during the long walk to her chambers.
[Should I just ask her directly?] Ferdinand eyed Arabella. [She looks exhausted. But that’s all the more reason to bring her there.]
’Where is he planning to bring me?’ Arabella tilted her head in wonder.
"There’s a place I would like to show you later. I think it will help you relax after all the work you had to do," Ferdinand finally asked her. He didn’t tell her where it was, but he assured her it was a relaxing place.
"I’d love to see it. When should we go?" Arabella beamed and Ferdinand’s face brightened.
[She agreed so easily. What had I been hesitating for? Since when did I become so cowardly?] Ferdinand internally scolded himself.
"Whenever is most convenient for you," Ferdinand gave her the choice but she heard from his thoughts he wanted to bring her there as soon as possible.
"Then, would after lunch later be alright?"
Arabella knew she would wake up late since it was already dawn so she chose to go in the afternoon. They needed some sleep so they could enjoy their date later.
"Of course," Ferdinand readily agreed. He was already looking forward to their date.
"I’ll see you later then. I’m feeling really sleepy now."
[Right. I shouldn’t be keeping her from resting.]
But Ferdinand was reluctant to leave once again.
[Do I really have to leave? I want to lay beside her, wrap her in my arms, and watch her sleep.]
’No, thanks. I might not be able to sleep if you have all sorts of thoughts in your mind again.’
She’s exhausted but Ferdinand’s thoughts could keep her awake if he watched her sleep. How would she sleep with someone staring at her anyway?
[She’s my wife. Why should someone prohibit me from entering her room? That Raymond. He keeps ordering me around these days. If he wasn’t helping me understand how human relationships work, I wouldn’t have to listen to what he says.]
Ferdinand was very much tempted to break his word and sleep in her room.
However, if he broke his word, Raymond would no longer continue to give him lessons. Ferdinand knew that he needed those lessons so he couldn’t have it stopped. Likewise, Raymond had a good relationship with his wife so his words have credibility.
Arabella stopped herself from smiling as she got a glimpse of her husband’s thoughts. He got scolded a lot by Raymond last time he still slept in her chambers even though the physician told him to let her rest.
Raymond told Ferdinand that he should have refrained from visiting her room since even if he wasn’t planning to do anything, Arabella would be pressured by his presence since nobles usually only sleep in the same room when they copulate.
This was why everyone assumed something happened between them every time Ferdinand slept in her room.
[But I miss her. I miss her so badly I want to hold her in my arms for all eternity and never let go.]
’That’s a bit much, dear husband.’
Arabella felt guilty though when Ferdinand stared at her. His eyes were filled with so much longing.
[All I want to do is be with her every single day. I should bring her to my island in Estrella. We could live there, just the two of us without anyone bothering us. Living in the human realm is too complicated. In Estrella, I could just do as I please. My wife wouldn’t have to do all these duties and responsibilities either. She can just do as she pleases every single day as well.]
’Really? Don’t I also have to do some work there?’ Arabella was tempted by the idea.
’Right. In Estrella, Ferdinand is not an Emperor. Alwin just refers to him as milord. And Blanca referred to someone else as Her Majesty.’
Ferdinand was not a ruler in Estrella so they would be free of their heavy responsibilities as rulers if they lived there instead of Valeria.
Arabella had never tried living without all sorts of royal duties and responsibilities attached to her but it must indeed be very much liberating to live as they please without having to be bound by the strict life of living as part of royalty.
