Rebirth to take revenge
Chapter 99: Amnesia

Chapter 99: Amnesia

Unexpectedly, Alex didn’t hold it against him and just nodded, indicating for him to take a seat. Louis felt like he had narrowly escaped a disaster and sat down without saying a word.

After a moment, the meeting ended. Alex dismissed everyone, leaving only Louis behind. Louis felt uneasy and avoided eye contact, but Alex didn’t give him a chance and asked directly, "Have you found out who she is?"

Louis’s body trembled, and he turned his head stiffly, revealing a smile uglier than crying as he said, "It doesn’t matter who she is, Mr. Miller."

As soon as he finished speaking, Alex’s brows furrowed in displeasure. Seeing this, Louis quickly explained, "Don’t forget, you already have a fiancée! If Anna finds out that you’re investigating another girl, with her personality, it’ll be hard for her not to cause trouble for that girl!"

After saying this, he lowered his head and dared not look at Alex’s expression. As expected, when Alex heard Anna’s name, his pupils shrank, and his eyes showed disgust and pain. Upon seeing this, Louis felt relieved and continued, "Don’t worry, I will never let anyone know about this. I will keep your secret."

Louis promised with conviction and took the opportunity to say, "Since you have recovered, why don’t you two get married as soon as possible? Don’t let the night bring more dreams."

Alex frowned and stared at Louis. After a while, he said, "No."

Louis had already guessed that he wouldn’t agree easily, so he interrupted him and said, "So, let’s put this matter aside for now. The company has an urgent project, and General Manager Miller needs to personally take care of it."

On the other side, Anna left the Western Medical Clinic with an angry expression and got into the car.

Sebastian sat in the driver’s seat and looked at his beloved daughter with concern, asking, "What happened? Did Alex make things difficult for you?"

Anna shook her head and pouted, "Alex brother is very good, but..."

"Claire is back!"

"Who? Claire?" Sebastian was stunned, full of disbelief, and said, "Isn’t she already dead? Are you sure you didn’t mistake her for someone else?"

"It’s Claire dad, it’s her" Anna insisted. "I even talked to her."

"Fortunately, Alex has forgotten about her, otherwise her appearance would definitely be a threat!" Anna’s eyes were gloomy, and her fingers were nervously intertwined.

"Regardless of whether Alex has forgotten about her or not, her existence is a threat," Sebastian tightly gripped the steering wheel, looking in the direction of the Western Medical Center with a fierce look in his eyes. "No one knows whether Alex’s amnesia is permanent or not. If one day, he remembers everything, then our advantage in the Smith family will instantly turn into a disadvantage."

Thinking of the night five years ago, when Alex strangled Anna’s neck, his eyes were full of killing intent. Sebastian still had lingering fears. If Alex remembered everything, the Smith family would be doomed!

Anna’s face turned pale. She looked at Sebastian nervously and asked, "Dad, what do you mean?"

Sebastian’s eyes turned cold, and his killing intent was evident. He said in a cold voice, "Let me go back and discuss this with your mother."

After speaking, Sebastian looked at Anna, his eyes full of love, and said softly, "Daughter, you don’t need to worry about this. Now Alex has identified you as his fiancée, so you must seize the opportunity. During this time, try to find more opportunities and turn our Smith family business into one of the biggest company in City A.

"These men, they can’t resist temptation. Do you understand what your father means?"

Upon hearing this, Anna blushed and said, "Yes, I understand."

"That’s good. My Anna is the smartest." Sebastian smiled with satisfaction and said, "This marriage cannot be delayed any longer. You and Alex must establish your relationship as soon as possible. In the days to come, you should focus all your attention on conquering him. As for the other obstacles, leave them to your Mom and me!"

Anna felt warmth in her heart and nodded shyly, saying, "I understand, Dad."

Sebastian nodded in satisfaction and drove home with Anna.

At the Smith’s house, as soon as Sebastian entered the door, he hurriedly took Mariah into the bedroom and told her about Anna’s words today. When Mariah heard that Claire had returned, her eyes instantly turned cold.

"This damn girl, she really doesn’t give up. If I had known this, I wouldn’t have brought her back from that broken fishing village!" Sebastian’s eyes showed impatience, and his tone became more serious. He said, "What’s the use of saying these things now? The situation has come to this, and all we can do is quickly get rid of her!"

When Mariah heard his tone become harsh, she became angry and said, "No, Sebastian, what are you talking about? Am I supposed to wipe her butt for you?" Mariah stood with her hands on her hips, pointing at Sebastian’s nose, and said, "Back then, you couldn’t get rid of her mother, and you begged me to help you solve it! Now, it’s her daughter’s turn, and you still come to me? I’m telling you, Sebastian, I’m not your Smith family’s servant! If it’s too much trouble, I’ll just remarry. Who will accompany you to play with your life?"

Seeing Mariah getting angry, Sebastian felt a little guilty. He walked over, jokingly grabbed Mariah’s hand, and said, "Wife, what are you talking about? Anna is the fruit of our love, our child. Now that she’s in trouble, how can we as parents not care? And about what happened before, although you were the one who did it, we’ve been happy and loving all these years, haven’t we? Believe me, once we get rid of Claire, our days will still be as happy and loving as before. No, I will love and cherish you even more than before."

Sebastian’s smooth talking made Mariah blush. She pushed him a few times but didn’t struggle as Sebastian hugged her. "Wife, this time, it’s up to you." Mariah’s heart softened at this point. She glared at Sebastian and said, "Alright, you’re so old and still saying such cheesy things! I understand, I’ll figure out a solution for this."

"But..."

"I don’t think I can handle it alone. Where’s Anna?" Sebastian shook his head and said, "That girl doesn’t have much to do usually. She’s probably in her room watching videos."

"Okay, if you need her help, just ask her. It’s good to have her contribute to the Smith family, although she has been helping a lot it wouldn’t hurt to help more."

Mariah nodded and said, "Okay, I got it. I’ll go talk to her about this now. You can go and eat first."

Sebastian nodded, and before leaving, he kissed Mariah and said, "Wife, this family is lucky to have you."

Watching Sebastian leave, Mariah felt a sweet feeling in her heart. This love was something she had fought hard for. Now, she couldn’t let it all be ruined by a little girl! Mariah made up her mind, her eyes turning cold.

Claire, since you don’t know what’s good for you, don’t blame me for being ruthless! With that in mind, Mariah turned around and headed toward Anna’s room.

At this moment Anna was reading a book in her room. Hearing a knock on the door, she got up and walked toward it, saying, "I’m not eating dinner tonight, you don’t have to call me." As she spoke, she heard Mariah’s voice from outside the door, "Anna, it’s me, Mom."

Upon hearing this, she hurriedly went to opening the door for Mariah.

Anna blinked in surprise and said directly, "Mom, if you have something to say, just say it."

Mariah put away her smile and said in a deep voice, "Okay, then I won’t beat around the bush. Anna, I need your help with something important. It concerns the well-being of our family and dealing with Claire, she has been a headache in our family and I can’t stand her anymore."

Anna looked intrigued but also slightly concerned. "Yes she has been a real headache to me and now that she is back I am afraid that Alex will remember her again ?"

Mariah took a deep breath before continuing. "Claire is causing problems for us, and I need you to help me figure out a solution. I know it’s not usually your responsibility, but we need to address this situation together."

Anna nodded slowly, her curiosity piqued. "Alright, I’m willing to help. What exactly do you need me to do?"

Mariah appreciated her willingness. "First, I need you to stay alert and gather any information about Claire’s activities and who might be supporting her. We need to understand her strategy and weaknesses. Once we have that, we can plan our next steps more effectively."

Anna’s expression turned serious as she processed her mother’s request. "Okay, I’ll start looking into it. But, Mom, are you sure this is the right approach? I mean, handling things this way seems pretty drastic."
