Rebirth to take revenge -
Chapter 100: I killed her
Chapter 100: I killed her
Mariah’s gaze hardened slightly. "It is drastic, but sometimes drastic measures are necessary. We can’t let Claire undermine our family’s happiness and stability. We’ve worked too hard for this."
Anna nodded, her resolve strengthening. "Understood. I’ll get to work on it right away."
Mariah gave her daughter a reassuring smile. "Thank you, Anna. Your help means a lot. And remember, we’re doing this for our family."
Anna returned the smile with a determined look. "I’ll do my best, Mom."
As Mariah left the room, she felt a surge of hope. With Anna’s help, she believed they could resolve the issue with Claire and protect the family’s happiness.
As Mariah walked back to the living room, she glanced at the clock and realized it was almost dinner time. Her thoughts were consumed by the upcoming confrontation with Claire, and she hoped that Anna’s involvement would make a difference.
Meanwhile, Anna was already deep in thought, trying to piece together what she knew about Claire. She retrieved her laptop and began searching through any available information, emails, and social media posts related to Claire. She knew she needed to be thorough and cautious.
Hours passed as Anna diligently worked, her focus unwavering, she was really determined to get rid of Cliare. She compiled a list of Claire’s recent activities, contacts, and any suspicious behavior. By the time she finished, she had a substantial amount of data that could potentially reveal Claire’s motivations and plans.
Anna decided to share her findings with her mother. She went downstairs and found her mother waiting anxiously in the living room.
"Mom, I’ve gathered some information on Claire," Anna said, handing over a folder filled with notes and printouts. "Here’s what I found."
Mariah took the folder and scanned through the contents. Her eyes narrowed as she read through Anna’s notes. "This is good work, Anna. It looks like Claire has been more active than we thought."
Anna nodded. "Yes, and I think she might have some allies. It’s clear that she’s not acting alone, if not then how was she able to survive all these years, I believe she is up to something. We need to figure out who’s helping her and what their motives might be."
Mariah’s expression hardened. "Alright, we’ll need to approach this carefully. I’ll discuss our next steps with Sebastian, and we’ll plan how to handle Claire. Thank you for your help, Anna."
Anna smiled, feeling a sense of accomplishment. "No need to thank me mom I also want this Claire girl out of my life. Just let me know if you need anything else."
As Mariah began to strategize, she felt a renewed sense of determination. With Anna’s support and Sebastian’s backing, she was confident they could confront Claire and restore peace to their family. Mariah knew it wouldn’t be easy just like how she got rid of Claire’s mother, but she was ready to fight this one too.
She stood up and went for a picture "See, these two with the surname James, one is Claire’s mother, the other is her grandmother."
"Claire’s mother dies at my died at my hands." Anna was shocked. "Mom, are you crazy? You killed her?"
Maria nodded calmly and said, "Yes, I killed her. Just that no one knows except your father."
"But I have a feeling that if Claire is still alive, sooner or later, she will come after me!" Maria’s eyes were fierce as she pointed to an empty space next to the two tombstones, saying, "I bought this spot a long time ago. It’s for Claire."
"If she’s alive, not only will our Smith Family be ruined by her, but no one in our Smith family will be able to escape!"
After speaking, Maria’s gaze shot towards Anna, and she said word by word, "Now, do you still think this matter is for the sake of your sister?"
Anna trembled all over and gritted her teeth, saying, "Mom, you’re too cruel."
"’I’m cruel? Hmph."
Maria coldly snorted and pointed at the grave, saying, "If I weren’t cruel, how could you still stay in the Smith family?"
Anna fell silent for a moment and finally sighed, saying, "Mom, what are you going to do?"
A trace of indifference appeared on Maria’s face as she slowly said, "Tomorrow night, you will attend Alex’s birthday banquet."
"At that time, all you need to do is to try your best to seduce Alex and seal this marriage! As for what comes next, I will arrange it."
Anna was stunned by her words. "Mom, you actually... actually want to harm me like this! Although Alex takes me as his fiancée but he has never touched me before if I try to force him won’t it be suicidal"
She widened her eyes, as if she couldn’t believe it.
But Maria ignored her and continued, "This matter is of great importance. You must keep it a secret and not spread it around."
"Otherwise, the Smith family will be finished, and you will be sent to prison.
Maria stared at Anna, her tone icy, and said word by word, "You won’t be able to escape the disaster of prison either. After all, you instigated Anna to snatch Alex’s fiancée status!"
Anna’s face turned pale as she murmured, "Why... why would you do this?"
"It’s none of your business," Maria said indifferently. "If you don’t want to do it, then never come back to the Smith family again."
"...I understand," Anna said after a long silence.
Anna suddenly remembered, "I have something to do today, so maybe..."
At the Western Medical Clinic
"I advise you to cancel your plans. You have to attend the banquet if you want to continue working at the West Medical Clinic," interrupted a nurse. "Even if it’s just as a janitor, you have to go, this is a message from Mr. Alex."
Claire’s face changed slightly. What did Alex mean by this? She squeezed her hand and turned to walk in the other direction.
"Where are you going?" asked two nurses.
"To the restroom," Claire’s tone was flat as she walked out of the dispensary.
She took out her phone and checked the date. It was indeed Alex’s birthday today, but what was the purpose of inviting all the employees of the West Medical Clinic to the banquet?
If nothing unexpected happened, the Smith family would definitely attend the banquet. And she would meet those people. Claire felt a wave of annoyance in her heart. She didn’t want to meet the Smith family at this time.
Suddenly, Claire’s eyes paused on a number on her phone. After thinking for a moment, she composed a message.
"Mr. Alex, I am Claire, an employee of the dispensary. I have something urgent to attend to tonight and cannot attend the banquet. Can I please have your permission to take a leave?"
After pressing the send button, Claire nervously held her phone. This was Alex’s previous contact information. She didn’t know if he was still using it now.
Claire nervously stared at her phone screen. After a while, she received a text message.
Anna walked up behind Alex. Taking advantage of Alex’s inattention, she hugged his waist.
"Alex, why are you here alone?" Anna said coquettishly, her eyes still glancing toward the corner.
In the corner, a reporter from the Smith family was standing there. After receiving Anna’s signal, he raised his camera toward the two of them and quickly pressed the shutter.
Alex regained his senses and felt a sharp pain in his head. He clenched his teeth and pressed his temples with bloodshot eyes. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes to regulate his breathing.
However, when he opened his eyes again, there was a hint of confusion and emptiness in his pupils! All these emotions were unfamiliar and strange, making him afraid to delve into them!
In the end, he could only choose to give up and not think about it anymore.
The next morning, at dawn, Alex woke up from his sleep. The moment he opened his eyes, he found that his forehead was covered in cold sweat. Dreams like this had accompanied him for countless nights. And the blurry figure in the dream had become clear now. It was Claire.
Alex’s heart was pounding, and he quickly got out of bed. After tidying up, he walked out of the bedroom, ready to leave, but was stopped by the old butler.
"Young master, today is your birthday, you can’t leave."
Upon hearing this, Alex frowned and impatiently said, "What? Who runs this house? I don’t even have the freedom to leave?"
The old butler’s face turned pale, looking at Alex’s angry expression, and thought to himself that it was not good. Then, he smiled and said, "Young master, you must not have rested well last night. When Madam comes over later, why don’t I burn some soothing incense for you and you can take a nap?"
"No need, I want to go out. Let’s cancel the birthday banquet today." After saying this, Alex opened the door and was about to leave. However, as soon as he opened the door, he bumped into Emma.
