Rebirth to take revenge
Chapter 76: Fainted

Chapter 76: Fainted

"That’s right, master, there’s something I forgot to tell you."

Alex, absent-minded, said impatiently, "Say it."

The old butler leaned closer to Alex’s ear and said in an excited tone, "Madam... she’s pregnant."

Alex’s eyes widened, and he stood up, grabbing the butler’s collar and shouting angrily, "What did you say?"

The old butler never expected such a reaction from him. For a moment, he was at a loss and trembled as he said, "Madam fainted on the way back. I called the private doctor of the Miller family. The doctor diagnosed Madam and found out that she’s pregnant."

Alex tightened his fists, anger surging in his eyes as he almost squeezed out the words, "How long?"

The old butler’s face turned red from being choked, but he didn’t care about himself. He kept recalling the doctor’s words and said, "Two... two months!"

Hearing this, Alex’s eyes flickered, and the strength in his hands suddenly loosened. The old butler breathed a sigh of relief and secretly observed Alex’s expression. Alex’s face changed constantly, and his deep eyes narrowed dangerously. After a while, he gritted his teeth and said, "Damn it!"

He sat heavily back on the sofa, lit a cigarette, and took a few fierce puffs. Then, he picked up his phone and dialed a number, coldly ordering, "Immediately check all the obstetrics and gynecology departments of the hospitals to see if there’s a person named Claire who went for a check-up today!"

After speaking, Alex hung up the phone, took another deep drag on his cigarette, and exhaled thick smoke. His chilling appearance at the moment was terrifying. The butler couldn’t help but shrink his neck. Alex turned his head, catching a glimpse of the cautious look on the old butler’s face. Feeling a twinge of guilt, he averted his gaze and continued smoking.

After a moment, he flicked the last cigarette butt into the trash can and headed toward the stairs. The old butler hesitated for a moment before quickly following him. In the study, only Alex stood quietly by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking out at the bustling traffic outside. His tall and straight figure appeared lonely under the light, evoking a sense of sympathy at just one glance. Alex’s gaze was distant and profound, as if looking through the thick black curtain toward the distant horizon.

He was brought back from his thoughts when he sensed the butler behind him. He turned to look at the old butler and said, "You should rest first."

The old butler’s eyes flashed with a helpless look, and he whispered, "Young Master, Madam will be fine. You should rest early too."

Alex took a deep breath and was about to speak when his phone suddenly rang. He answered the call and heard a respectful male voice on the other end report, "Mr. Miller, we’ve received some information."

"Okay, where is she?" Alex pondered for a moment before asking. There was a pause on the other end of the phone, and the man hesitated before saying, "There’s no exact information on Miss Smith at the Powell family villa, but today she went for a check-up to have an abortion. The preparations were underway, but then..."

Upon hearing this, Alex’s back stiffened, and his face turned pale. His thin lips trembled slightly, and it took him a while to regain his voice as he asked, "And then?"

"Then, the young master of the Powell family appeared and took her away," the other party answered truthfully.

Alex closed his eyes, concealing the anger rising in his heart. After a long silence, he whispered to his bodyguards, "Keep an eye on the nurse."

"Yes, Mr. Miller," the other party responded.

Alex ended the call with his assistant and placed his phone on the table. Rubbing his throbbing forehead, he let out a deep sigh, then put on a coat and hurriedly left.

After spending the whole day with Claire by the sea in City A, Nelson returned to his grandfather’s villa after dropping Claire off at her residence in the Medical Clinic. As he walked to the door, he saw a familiar figure.

"Where is she?" Alex leaned against the door of the Powell family villa, giving Nelson a cold glance and asking.

Nelson raised his eyebrows, looking at Alex with a smile, pretending to be surprised. "Oh, isn’t this the Young Master of the Miller family? What brings you here? What? Do you have any information for me?"

Alex frowned impatiently, walking towards Nelson. His dangerous eyes locked onto him, and he asked coldly, "But she did go to a hospital, didn’t she?"

Nelson looked at Alex with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes and said slowly, "Why bother, Young Master Miller? Didn’t you drive her away yourself? And now you’re coming to me to ask about her whereabouts? If I remember correctly, she’s your wife!"

Alex’s face darkened, and a fierce aura emanated from him, as if a storm was about to come. "Nelson..." Alex’s cold, chilling voice overflowed from his thin lips, filled with boundless anger.

Seeing this, Nelson was startled and took a step back, staring at Alex warily. "I’m telling you, I don’t respond well to threats. If you want to know where she is, apologize to me, and I’ll tell you."

Alex then leaned forward. Nelson quickly retreated, shrugging his shoulders and saying, "Are you going to act like this? Are you not interested in finding her?"

"It’s up to you," Alex said, his eyes darkening as a bloodthirsty aura emanated from him. He then took a step forward, approaching Nelson with a cold smile. "Since you don’t want to say, there’s no need to continue this conversation."

"Nelson, I gave you a chance, but you chose to oppose me." Nelson looked at Alex’s gloomy expression and shrugged. He didn’t want to escalate things, so he said, "You can’t find someone that your group can’t find. How would I know where she is? You came to me because you found out that I took her from the hospital, right? Yes, it was me."

With a calm gaze, Nelson looked at Alex as if he had already anticipated his question. He said, "Where do you think I took her?"

Alex’s eyes narrowed as he asked coldly, "Where did you take her?"

Nelson shrugged innocently and asked, "If you don’t know, how would I know?" After saying this, Nelson walked around Alex lazily and left, leaving behind a meaningful sentence, "Taking her away was just a small matter for me. If it weren’t for me, she and her unborn child would not have been safe. Technically, you should be thanking me."

As for where she went, Nelson paused, and a sly smile appeared on his lips. "Naturally, she went to a place where you cannot find her. Otherwise, why would she have run away from home? Don’t you agree, Boss Miller?"

After Nelson finished speaking, he turned around and left. He didn’t take Alex’s threat seriously.

Alex’s pupils suddenly shrank, and he stared fixedly at Nelson’s fading figure, wishing he could tear him to pieces. "Nelson!" He gritted his teeth and called Nelson’s name. His scarlet eyes seemed as if they were about to drip blood. He then quickly caught up with Nelson, who was leaving, and placed his big hand on his shoulder.

Nelson was forced to stop, turned his head slightly, and said in a light tone, "Young Master, it’s so late. You think it’s impossible for me to tell you about Claire."

Alex pursed his thin lips tightly, his eyes fixed on Nelson’s fearless face. After a while, he said in a low voice, "She is my wife. If something goes wrong with our marriage, it will be bad for her and the child in her womb. There was some misunderstanding between me and her..." Alex paused, and with pleading eyes, he said, "Tell me where she is, and let me explain it to her."

Hearing this, Nelson sneered and said sarcastically, "What misunderstanding is there between you and her? What about you two being together on a certain agreement—do you still need to explain?"

Alex’s face turned livid. Nelson was too lazy to look at him again and walked straight forward. Just after taking two steps, Nelson felt a sharp pain in his wrist.

"Ah!" He gasped in pain, turned his head, and stared at Alex angrily. He saw the man’s eyes were as cold as a knife blade, extremely sharp.

"How we got together has nothing to do with you. But she’s pregnant with my baby now!" Alex gritted his teeth, his voice cold and dangerous.

Nelson was startled, and inexplicable emotions rose in his heart. "Since you know, don’t bother her. I will make arrangements for her and the child in the future." Saying this, Alex’s pupils suddenly shrank, and his face was gloomy and frightening.

He sent someone to investigate for a day and a night, but Claire’s whereabouts were deliberately concealed. The only people capable of this in City A were those from the military region.

After a while, he took a deep breath, suppressing the rage in his chest, and said slowly, "Do you think this is what she wants? When the time comes, there should be no ties between us."
