Rebirth to take revenge -
Chapter 75: Shopping
Chapter 75: Shopping
Seeing Claire’s resolute gaze, the female doctor took a deep breath and said, "Okay, since you insist, I won’t try to persuade you anymore." But who knew she was so stubborn and determined to have the surgery!
"But I still hope you’ll think it over carefully. The risk of this surgery is too high; it could result in both your deaths. Also, I need you to sign and seal this consent form, as it concerns the safety of your baby and your life."
She handed the pen to Claire, who remained silent for a moment before taking it and quickly signing her name on the surgical consent form. The female doctor collected her things and picked up the form, saying, "Alright, I’ll go prepare the surgical instruments. The surgery will begin in half an hour. Can you wait outside?"
"Sure, thank you," Claire nodded and watched the doctor leave. Half an hour later, the doctor finally came out and waved to her, saying, "Follow me."
Claire took a deep breath and got up to follow her. They walked one after the other until they arrived at the operating room. The doctor gestured for her to lie down on the bed, and then she put on a set of surgical clothes. Claire did as she was told and lay down on the bed. She looked up at the doctor and asked,
"How long will it take?" The doctor glanced at her and replied, "The surgery will be quick, around ten minutes. But afterward, you’ll need a long period of rest. Otherwise, your body won’t be able to handle it." Claire nodded and closed her eyes. Just then, a commotion could be heard outside the operating room.
"Sir, you can’t go in!" the nurse urgently exclaimed. However, the footsteps continued. Bang!
The door of the operating room was kicked open, startling the doctor, who exclaimed, "Ah! Who is this man? Get out! What are you doing in the gynecological operating room?" Claire’s heart tightened at the sudden turn of events, and she quickly looked up towards the door.
"Nelson?" She recognized the person standing at the door, and her pupils slightly contracted in surprise. At this moment, Nelson was wearing a white shirt, his hair slightly messy, his face anxious. His eyes were bloodshot, and he stared at Claire with an unyielding expression.
"Nelson, get out of here quickly, and don’t do anything meaningless!" Claire’s beautiful eyes tightened, and she spoke coldly.
However, Nelson ignored her words. He strode into the operating room, rushed to the operating table in a few quick steps, grabbed the surgical knife from the doctor’s hand, and shouted fiercely, "Stop the surgery immediately, or I will smash this clinic!"
The doctor, terrified by Nelson’s actions, screamed and stepped back, trembling as she said, "Are you her husband? Why didn’t you discuss things like abortion in advance? I just acted according to the patient’s wishes! You, let me go!" The doctor spoke anxiously and angrily, quickly pulling Claire up from the hospital bed, saying, "You better go; I can’t do this operation!"
Claire staggered but had no intention of leaving. Seeing this, Nelson took a step forward, pulled her into his arms, and hugged her tightly, saying, "Claire, don’t be so self-righteous. Hurry up and follow me now!"
Claire struggled a few times but couldn’t compete with Nelson’s strength. She didn’t back down, though. She looked at Nelson stubbornly and said, "Nelson, don’t meddle in my affairs; this is my own business!"
Nelson gritted his teeth, tightened his grip, and said coldly, "For a man, you’re willing to risk your own body? If I hadn’t arrived in time, would you be able to bear the consequences?"
Claire was silent for a moment, still struggling to push him away, and said, "I know my body well, and I am fine! Even if there are consequences, I’m already mentally prepared! It’s okay."
"Claire, what nonsense are you talking about?" Nelson stared in astonishment and said emotionally, "Don’t think I don’t know what you’re thinking! Isn’t it just pregnancy? What’s the big deal? The child is yours; it’s a part of you. It’s a big deal; you’ll have to raise it yourself. What does it have to do with him?"
After hearing Nelson’s words, Claire’s face turned pale, her eyes filled with confusion, and she felt aggrieved and helpless. Seeing her like this, Nelson felt a pang of guilt and remorse flash through his heart, and his tone softened a bit as he said, "Follow me."
Sitting in the silver car that brought them there, Claire leaned quietly on the back of the seat, staring blankly as if she had lost her soul. Seeing her like this, Nelson frowned fiercely. After being rejected by her that day, Nelson had resolved not to have any further contact with her. He was supposed to give up, but then this happened.
Looking at Claire’s slightly pale face, Nelson felt depressed, as if he had been punched. It was undeniable that he just couldn’t take his eyes off her; it seemed there was a kind of magic that kept attracting his attention. Nelson smiled wryly, secretly thinking that fate was playing tricks on him. He thought he could easily give up, but when faced with the reality, he realized that he had already fallen for her!
Claire felt stifled in the carriage, raised her head, and asked Nelson, "Has everything been arranged at the hospital?" Nelson pulled his wandering thoughts back, looked at her, and said, "What do you look like, and you’re still worried about your medical center?"
"I’ve closed the medical center; it’ll be closed for a few days. Your child, what do you plan to do?" When Claire heard this, a complex look flashed in her eyes, then she lowered them and said, "This medical center is my life’s work, and nothing else is important."
Nelson frowned and looked at her deeply, as if trying to find some trace of deceit on her face. He always felt that Claire’s abnormality today wasn’t because she was pregnant. She seemed extremely conflicted about whether she wanted this child, so she deliberately avoided the topic. Nelson stared at Claire’s face for a while, then finally sighed and said, "Forget it; it’s up to you to decide. I’ll just stand by your side."
Claire was startled, looking at Nelson with complicated eyes. At this moment, her phone rang. Claire came back to her senses, took out her phone, glanced at it, then pressed the mute button.
This action didn’t escape Nelson’s notice. "Did Alex call?" Nelson’s voice was faint, his eyes clear, though his thoughts were unreadable.
Claire nodded, turned her head to look out the window, and said, "He has a bad temper. I’m in a bad mood now, and it might get worse if I pick up." The corners of Nelson’s mouth curled slightly. He nodded and followed her train of thought, saying, "That’s true. In that case, is there anything that can make you feel better?"
"It’s a rare day off. I’ll go shopping with you." Claire was surprised by Nelson’s words for a moment, but soon returned to normal. She looked sideways at Nelson and asked, "Is this appropriate?"
Nelson shook his head and said, "There’s nothing wrong with it." After a pause, he continued, "I met you when I returned to the country, then worked hard as a nurse in your hospital. I haven’t even had time to look around City A."
Meanwhile, at the Miller family villa, Alex held the phone, frowning. The old butler beside him lowered his head, his face pale.
Another call was made, but there was still no response. Alex was very irritable. He threw his phone on the coffee table in front of him and said coldly, "Have you not found her yet?"
The old butler’s back stiffened, and he looked at the black-clothed bodyguard beside him in panic. The bodyguard’s face was tense, his mouth set in a tight line, and he said in a deep voice, "We couldn’t find Madam’s whereabouts."
"Ah." Alex sneered, his eyes dangerously locked onto the bodyguard in black, and he said, "The Miller Group claims to be the strongest security group in the country, but they can’t even find a woman’s whereabouts? This city is so big that she can escape in just one night?"
The old butler was sweating, standing aside tremblingly, not daring to interrupt. The bodyguard’s face was grim, and he bowed his head, saying, "Incompetent people." His eyes showed a fierce light, and his whole body exuded hostility. "Check it out for me. Even if she’s three feet underground, dig her out!"
His voice seemed to come from the underworld, revealing a strong murderous intent. The old butler trembled with fright, but he bravely stepped forward and said, "Young master, please calm down. Madam asked about you before leaving. I think she must still be upset. Don’t worry; she’ll come back once her anger subsides."
Alex took a deep breath and didn’t look at the old butler as he responded. The old butler sighed helplessly, suddenly remembered something, and his eyes lit up as he said...
