Chapter 170: Jack’s Punishment
Chapter 170: Jack’s Punishment
Leander could actually manipulate the global surveillance system?!
As soon as Leander finished speaking, Alex couldn’t help but ask, "You didn’t teach this to your Uncle Josh, did you?"
Leander shook his head and said, "This is confidential. How could I just tell anyone?"
"Uncle Josh is so clueless—he doesn’t even know how many functions this watch has. I only showed him a small part of it, and he was already amazed."
Claire let out a sigh of relief. She had been worried that Leander might have revealed all the watch’s functions to Jack, which would have been disastrous.
Claire turned to Leander and asked, "What were you doing upstairs just now?"
"I remembered this watch has a speech detection function, so I activated it," Leander replied seriously, taking off the watch. "Dad is in trouble, so of course, I want to help him."
"Take this watch for now, Dad. When the new one is ready in a few days, I’ll return it to you. With this, you won’t have to worry about people lying to you anymore."
Alex took the watch and examined it in his palm for a moment. "This watch looks ordinary, but I didn’t expect it to be so powerful."
Claire rolled her eyes at him. "If it didn’t have these functions, wouldn’t it just be a children’s toy? After all, you spent three million on it."
Alex looked at her in confusion and admitted, "When I bought it, I really thought it was just a toy."
Claire was left speechless. Perhaps only a tycoon like Alex would spend three million on a ’toy’ for his child.
"By the way, where is Jack now?" Claire suddenly asked.
"I had someone send him back to the old house. After some time, I’ll deal with him properly."
"Someone should bring him back and give him some money to go abroad so he won’t disturb our lives again," Claire replied.
"Don’t say that. You’re not the one causing trouble. It’s those who dare to mess with you that are causing trouble. And I’ll handle them."
Claire looked up at him, her eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Alex. I’m lucky to have you as my husband."
Alex smiled at her. "I’m the lucky one. Now, let’s forget about that troublemaker and enjoy the rest of our day together."
"Claire, you weren’t like this before. How did you become so indecisive after having a child?"
"If you really feel like you did something wrong, then you can make it up to me in a different way."
"For example, have another daughter for me."
Upon hearing this, Claire’s body trembled, and her expression became flustered.
"Alex... Alex, what are you talking about?"
Alex raised an eyebrow. "Having a child can change one’s personality. Maybe if you have another one, you’ll go back to your fearless self."
Leander clapped his hands in agreement. "I want a little sister too!"
Claire looked at their expressions, feeling both angry and frustrated.
She took a deep breath. "I don’t want to talk to you anymore! I need to rest!"
With that, she turned and headed toward the bedroom.
"You said you have nothing to do tonight, right? I’ll sleep with you!"
Alex quickly caught up, grabbed her arm, and led her toward the door.
The next day, Alex was up early, waiting in the living room.
Claire stepped out of the bedroom, puzzled to see him there.
"Don’t you have to go to the company today?"
Alex nodded. "I’m taking you back to the main house."
"Didn’t you say you want to send Jack abroad? Let’s go to the main house today and settle this properly."
"Bringing you there will help you get closure."
Hearing this, Claire’s heart warmed slightly. "I’m fine. It’s just that these things were unexpected."
"He’s your uncle, after all. I think he might regret what he’s done, but who knows..."
Alex sneered. "He once tried to kill you. In my heart, he’s no longer worthy of being my uncle."
"I won’t let him off that easily."
Claire was a little shocked. "Aren’t you going to send him abroad?"
"I am. But before that, I have to teach him a lesson."
"I think if he suffers a bit, he might finally wake up."
"After all, if he treats his own nephew like this, he will have to answer to his conscience—or to God!"
Memories of Jack’s past actions flashed through Claire’s mind.
Alex’s tolerance for him had reached its limit.
Jack had made a huge mistake this time.
Claire sighed. "It’s up to you to decide."
At the Miller family’s main house, Alex and Claire arrived just as Jack did.
When he saw them, a mocking look appeared on his face.
"I thought you’d never set foot here again."
Alex glanced at him indifferently but didn’t respond.
He walked straight past Jack into the main house.
Claire hesitated for a moment before following him.
Alex pulled Claire to sit on the sofa, crossed his legs, and said, "Sit. Why are you just standing there?"
Jack gritted his teeth. "Did you call me here just to show off your love?"
Alex chuckled. "Of course not."
"Uncle, sit down. We need to talk."
Jack sneered. "Do you think I’ll just sit and obey?"
"If you resist, I don’t mind using the Miller family’s rules to deal with you right now."
"You wouldn’t dare!" Jack glared at Alex, his eyes burning with fury.
"Try me," Alex said calmly, smiling.
Jack was furious. He clenched his fists.
"Alex, what have I done to deserve this? Over the years, I’ve been nothing but loyal to the this family. Why are you treating me this way?"
Alex’s eyes turned cold. He scoffed. "Why?"
"Because you tarnished the reputation of the our family’s business. Because you tried to take control of what wasn’t yours!"
He leaned back and smirked. "You think I can’t deal with you?"
"Your people have confessed. We have solid evidence. What more do you have to say?"
Jack scoffed. "Do you really think you can still control the entire Miller family?"
"If the Miller family were in my hands, do you think you’d still be sitting here, acting so high and mighty?"
Alex looked at him coldly. "If you could take control of the Smith family, then sure, you’d have power."
"But even if you did, do you really think it would change anything for me?"
Jack’s expression froze.
"I’m not boasting, Uncle. Even if you inherit the family business, you’d still have to act according to my terms."
"You think you have power over me?"
Alex sneered. "After what you did back then, the Miller family will never recognize you again!"
"Do you really think I’ll let you continue causing trouble?"
Jack’s face turned livid. He clenched his fists. "Alex, I never thought you could be this ruthless!"
Alex shrugged. "After all these years, you should’ve known my nature by now."
"You think I’m doing this for money?"
Alex stood up, walked over to Jack, and looked down at him.
"If this were just about money, I wouldn’t have wasted so much energy on you."
"Jack, if it weren’t for Claire, you’d have been dead a long time ago. Do you really think you still have the right to sit here and negotiate with me?"
"You—"
Jack was at a loss for words.
His face changed several times before he finally collapsed onto the sofa.
Jack slumped decadently and closed his eyes. He knew he could no longer escape his fate.
"My Claire believed that you were a part of the Miller family. Not only did she forgive you, but she also saved your life," Alex said coldly.
"She is so kind, yet you continue to disappoint her again and again."
Alex turned to Claire and asked, "Claire, do you want him to be punished?"
Claire hesitated for a moment, but before she could answer, Alex interrupted:
"She doesn’t want to."
"Do you know why, Uncle?" Alex continued.
"Even after everything you’ve done, she still wants to forgive you."
"It’s because your last name is Miller."
"Because you’re my uncle."
"But tell me, after all these years, what have you done to this family?"
"Did you forget that you were the one who killed Grandpa?"
Jack’s expression changed instantly. He jumped up, his voice filled with anger.
"Alex, what nonsense are you talking about?!"
Alex leaned back on the sofa, his expression indifferent.
"Is it nonsense, Uncle?" His voice was calm, yet his gaze was sharp. "You know the truth in your heart."
Jack’s face turned pale. His eyes darted around as he forced himself to stay composed.
"So what if I did?" he sneered. "He’s dead. Why should I apologize to a dead man?"
Alex’s eyes darkened.
He leaned forward, staring Jack down as he spoke each word with chilling clarity.
"Uncle, I’m giving you a choice right now."
"You can choose to redeem yourself... or—"
A slow smirk appeared on Alex’s face.
"Or I can help you."
He straightened up and chuckled. "You just made a great suggestion earlier."
"I don’t mind sending you to thank Grandpa in person."
"No!" Jack shouted in panic.
"Alex, don’t take this too far!"
