Rebirth to take revenge -
Chapter 132: Dream on
Chapter 132: Dream on
She said lightly, "You’re still young, and there are many things you don’t understand. Your father and I aren’t good at living together."
Although Leander was still a bit confused, he didn’t ask any more questions.
Seeing this, Claire breathed a sigh of relief. She didn’t want her child to know how dangerous their situation was. She really didn’t want her child to be hurt.
Claire’s reaction made Josh’s eyes flicker. His gaze fell on Leander, and he slowly said, "If you want to stay here, Uncle will give you a separate room. How about it?"
Upon hearing this, Leander’s face lit up with a smile, "Thank you, Uncle."
When Leander spoke, Josh’s face showed a hint of surprise. He looked at Claire and asked, "Don’t you object?"
Claire sneered, "Do you think I should object?"
"Josh, what are you up to?"
Upon hearing this, Josh’s face turned dark. "Claire, don’t bite the hand that feeds you!"
Claire’s face turned even colder at this. "Josh, did you ignore what I told you yesterday? If that’s the case, then find someone else to take care of the old lady’s illness."
Josh clenched his fists, his face darkening further. This woman is really shameless!
"Let’s go!"
Claire left with a parting shot, leaving Josh standing there, his face blackened with anger. He didn’t expect Claire to dare to threaten him!
"Stop," Josh growled.
Upon hearing this, Claire stopped in her tracks and turned to look at Josh.
"Do you think you can escape responsibility by doing this?"
"I did not shirk my responsibility!"
"Then tell me, as a doctor, can you just let the person in front of you suffer from illness and do nothing?"
"I did not do nothing!" Claire interrupted in a cold voice. "Josh, you forced me to do this! If you want to blame someone, blame yourself!"
Her words were firm. Josh took a deep breath, suppressing his anger, and tried to calm himself. He looked at Claire with a cold expression and said, "Claire, I arranged for them to move in so you would feel at ease while treating my grandmother. As for the person who threatened you, I’ll send someone to deal with it!"
Upon hearing this, Claire’s eyes flashed with surprise.
However, at that moment, Alex, who had been silent all along, slowly stood up.
He walked to Claire’s side, gently placing his hand on her shoulder, and said, "Sorry, Mr. Greg, for bothering you. As for my wife’s troubles, you don’t have to worry. I’ve already taken care of that person."
"I came here this time to take her home," Alex said, gently pulling Claire toward him.
Claire’s arm swaggered as she made her way toward the door.
Josh stood still, watching the scene unfold with cold eyes, his fists tightly clenched.
"Uncle Josh, we’ll take our leave now."
After speaking, Leander followed Alex and left.
Seeing this, Josh quickly spoke up and stopped them, "Wait."
Claire stopped in her tracks and said coldly, "Is there anything else?"
Josh took a deep breath and said, "My grandmother still needs your treatment. You can’t just leave like this. Besides, I’ve already given you two million for the treatment fee."
Josh’s words were sharp, which made Claire feel angry.
She turned around, but before she could speak, Alex beside her took out a check and said, "Young Master Josh, please accept this check. The treatment fee at the Western Medical Clinic is clearly marked and does not cost two million."
"As for Madam Greg’s illness, my wife has already made her decision."
Upon hearing this, Josh’s face turned pale. Alex was clearly looking down on the Greg family.
He noted this insult and vowed to pay it back twice!
After taking a deep look at Claire, Josh left quickly.
Seeing him go, Leander immediately took Claire’s hand and ran back to the living room.
Claire was pulled along and almost stumbled.
Leander quickly supported Claire’s waist and said, "Mommy, be careful."
"Okay," Claire nodded lightly.
Leander smiled and said excitedly, "I’m here to take Mommy home!"
In the car, Claire sat in the passenger seat, unable to wait any longer, and asked.
"You said you’ve already taken control of Cole? What’s going on?"
Alex was driving with full attention, but the direction wasn’t towards the Powell family villa.
He glanced faintly at Leander in the rearview mirror and smiled, "There’s no formidable opponent when my son and I team up."
Hearing this, Claire’s face turned pale. She quickly turned around and looked at Leander, who was sitting in the back seat, surprised. "Leander, what did you do?"
Leander blinked his innocent big eyes and said in a soft voice, "I didn’t do anything, it’s all Dad’s credit."
"I just got to know about the location of that person you’re looking for and managed to tell Dad."
Upon hearing this, Claire breathed a sigh of relief but still looked suspicious. "Then how did you know?"
"I can also use the same method to find out where that person is," Leander explained seriously.
As he spoke, he took out his phone from his pocket. "Look at this."
Claire lowered her head to take a look and suddenly gasped in shock. The phone Leander handed her displayed a live feed from a surveillance camera!
And the image on the screen was of a luxurious apartment building she was very familiar with.
"Leander... how did you get this?" Claire stared at him, astonished and in disbelief.
Leander shrugged and smiled, "I have my ways."
"Dad said that as long as we work together, we can catch everyone who wants to harm Mommy!"
"Mom, you don’t know, but as soon as you left that day, Dad had already arranged for his people to ambush the route leading to the Western Medical Clinic, the path you had to take."
"As soon as Cole appeared, Dad’s people took control of him!"
His small fingers lightly swiped across the phone screen, continuing, "That person is still inside. You’ll see them soon."
Claire frowned. Although she didn’t want to believe Leander’s words, the current situation didn’t allow her much time to think.
It seemed that Cole hadn’t been sitting idly these past few days, but Alex had planned everything well in advance.
So that’s why he had agreed to her request to leave the Smith family.
Thinking of this, she looked at Alex with a complicated expression. Finally, she sighed and nodded helplessly. "Okay."
Leander smiled with satisfaction, swinging his little feet and playing with his phone like it was a treasure.
Claire turned her head to look out the window, carefully observing the scenery outside while listening to what was going on inside the car.
Soon, the car came to a stop in front of an apartment building.
Alex stopped the car and turned to the mother and son in the back seat, "Let’s go in first."
Leander obediently nodded, "Okay!"
With that, he pushed the door open, jumped out of the car, and followed Alex into the apartment.
Claire hesitated for a few seconds, then finally got out of the car. She stood under the apartment building, looking up at the thirty-story high-rise.
Not far away, Leander had already entered the elevator with Alex, heading straight for the top floor of the building.
A crisp "Ding" sound interrupted Claire’s thoughts.
She stepped into the elevator just as the doors were about to close, hurrying to catch up.
Thirty floors later, they stood in front of the apartment door.
Alex entered the password and opened the door.
He walked in first, followed by Leander, while Claire trailed slowly behind.
As soon as she stepped inside, she was stunned by what she saw!
In the spacious living room, a man in a gray and white shirt and black pants was leisurely sipping tea on the sofa, surrounded by several black-clad bodyguards.
When the man saw Claire walk in, he raised his eyebrows and smiled. "Oh, Claire, you’re still alive!"
Claire’s eyes flickered with fear and disgust, but she suppressed it and gave him a cold glance. "Cole, it’s time for us to settle things between us."
"What do you want to do?" Cole casually set down the cup in his hand and looked at her with interest.
Claire took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, and said coldly, "We’ve always been enemies. What can I possibly do for you?"
Cole’s eyes showed a hint of amusement at her words.
"Alright then, since you put it that way, I won’t beat around the bush," he said. "Your man brought me here, and I have a question for you. If you help me, I’ll let you go."
Cole looked at her with a smirk, his tone carefree and unconcerned.
He seemed so accustomed to his attitude that nothing felt wrong to him, but Claire was filled with anger at his words.
"You can forget it! I will never help you!" she retorted firmly.
Cole shrugged and spread his hands. "That’s a shame. After all, your grandfather entrusted me with something before he passed away. I guess you don’t want to know about it."
"Hmph, do you think you can scare me? Dream on!" Claire shot back coldly.
