Rebirth to take revenge
Chapter 133: Boom

Chapter 133: Boom

Cole shook his head and smiled. "I didn’t expect you to agree anyway," he said. "I just hope you’ll reconsider when I need your help."

He suddenly remembered something and continued, "By the way, there’s a big news tonight that you’ll definitely want to see."

"What are you up to?" Claire asked warily, her tone sharp.

Cole didn’t respond. He simply picked up the remote control from the table and turned on the TV.

On the screen, a black car was slowly driving out of an apartment.

In the back seat sat an old man in his sixties.

Claire’s pupils suddenly contracted, her eyes filled with disbelief.

Wasn’t her grandfather already killed by Jack and Mariah?

How could he be here?

Alex hadn’t expected this turn of events either. He frowned and asked in a deep voice, "Cole, what are you planning?"

Cole smirked, his smile wicked and eerie. "Heh, haven’t you guessed already?" he sneered. "I’ve been waiting for this day. When Jack wanted to kill your grandfather, I secretly made a switch."

"After all, in this life-and-death game, I had to leave myself a trump card."

"Your grandfather is now in my hands," he continued, his gaze landing on Claire’s face. "As long as you agree to my terms, I’ll return him to you."

Claire clenched her fists, feeling as if her heart were being squeezed tightly.

The pain was almost unbearable, threatening to drown her. Claire stared at Cole with hatred, wishing she could pierce him with a single look. "You can’t do this!" she cried. "If you dare to harm my grandfather, I will kill you, no matter the cost!"

Cole raised an eyebrow. "I’ll be waiting," he replied, his voice laced with sarcasm. "But before that, you should think carefully about what you’re going to do."

With that, he pulled out a ring box from his pocket and handed it to Claire. His tone was mocking as he said, "This is the only thing your mother left you. I’m sure you wouldn’t want to lose it, would you?"

Claire’s face turned pale, and she trembled as panic set in. Her hands, shaking uncontrollably, reached out toward the ring. It took her far too long to slip it onto her finger, and once it was on, she found she couldn’t take it off like she normally would.

Her hand stiffened, and tears welled up in her eyes, slowly spilling down her cheeks. She raised her arm, wiping the tears from the corners of her eyes, and took a deep breath, trying to compose herself. "What do you want?" she asked, her voice barely steady.

Cole narrowed his eyes and smiled playfully. "Actually, I don’t want to do anything to you. As long as you behave, I promise your grandfather will be fine. If you don’t believe me, feel free to test it."

His gaze flicked toward Claire.

"What do you want me to do?" She asked slowly, her lips tightening into a thin line.

Cole smiled wickedly. "Have Alex release me, and then come with me."

Claire hesitated, looking between Alex and Cole. She knew agreeing to Cole’s demands would put her in danger once again. But...

"I refuse," Alex said coldly, his voice firm. "I won’t let you harm my wife."

Cole shrugged. "That’s not up to you, because she must come with me. Otherwise, I guarantee you people won’t see your grandfather again."

As he finished, Cole stood up. Alex immediately followed suit.

"If you insist on doing this, I might as well cremate her first before handing her over to you," Cole said indifferently.

Alex frowned. "How dare you?!"

His hand moved toward his gun.

Cole sneered. "There’s nothing I won’t dare to do in this world."

Alex’s face darkened, his finger froze on the trigger, unable to pull it.

"You..." Alex began.

Cole glanced at him nonchalantly. "Alex, if I really wanted to harm your wife and child, I wouldn’t be sitting here chatting with you."

Hearing this, Alex hesitated for a moment before lowering his gun. "I won’t let Claire leave with you. Anything else you want,

just ask."

"ls that enough?" Cole raised an

eyebrow.

"I have a way!" Cole suddenly exclaimed. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a small device resembling a calculator.

"See this? It’s called a timing device. One press of this button, and your family’s life or death is entirely in your hands."

"Come here." Alex frowned, his expression

darkening. He reached out to stop him, warning, "Don’t go!"

"Cole, you’re crossing the line!"

Alex growled through clenched

teeth.

Cole’s eyes flashed with a cold light, his voice even icier. "That should be my line. Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you saved me."

He locked eyes with Alex, his tone menacing.

Claire turned to Alex and said, "I don’t want to involve you. I know my situation. Please, step aside."

Alex frowned, his voice filled with concern. "Claire, do you doubt me?"

Cole’s expression darkened as he gave Alex a cold glance. "Alex, this is a private matter between Claire and me, and it has nothing to do with you."

Turning back to Claire, his voice softened. "Come here, Claire. Let’s talk this through slowly."

"Mummy, don’t go! This uncle is lying!" A small voice suddenly piped up. It was Leander, standing beside them, looking terrified. His little face had turned pale, and he was trembling so much he seemed on the verge of fainting.

Claire frowned, her tone sharp. "Leander, don’t talk nonsense!"

Leander pouted and whispered, "Mummy, I..."

"Quiet!" Claire snapped.

At this moment, Alex spoke up. "Leander, tell me. What is it? What are you talking about?"

Leander’s eyes darted around in fear, but summoning his courage, he finally said, "It’s... explosives!"

Alex froze in shock. "Explosives?"

His gaze shifted to the device on the table, and his expression grew more serious.

Leander nodded quickly. "Yes, this isn’t a regular remote control. If I’m not mistaken, the signal doesn’t go beyond three meters! The bomb is probably on him!"

Upon hearing this, Alex’s guard went up immediately. "So, this is your plan?"

"I don’t have time for games," Cole said impatiently. "If you don’t want your wife and child to die, you better be smart and let me go."

His face twisted with fury, and the murderous intent in his eyes was unmistakable. Alex’s heart skipped a beat as he looked nervously at Claire.

"Claire, don’t go near him—it’s a trap!" Alex warned, his voice tense.

Claire bit her lip, refusing to look at Alex. She ignored him completely.

Alex grew even more anxious. He stepped forward and grabbed Claire’s arm. Claire tried to pull away, but Alex held on tight. "Claire, please let go!" she demanded, frowning.

But Alex couldn’t bring himself to release her, fearing she might vanish if he did. "Claire, don’t listen to his lies. He’s a madman!"

Tears welled up in Claire’s eyes, her vision blurring as her emotions overwhelmed her.

Cole sneered. "Hehe... what do you think?"

The anger in Alex’s chest erupted. "Cole, I’m warning you—don’t push me! If you hurt her, I swear I’ll make sure you never get a proper burial!"

Cole’s expression grew darker as he glared at Claire, his tone dripping with menace. "Claire, you’d better heed my warning. If you don’t, I won’t hesitate to take your entire family down with you."

His gaze then shifted to Alex, watching him closely.

Alex’s face turned pale as he saw the pain and tears in Claire’s eyes, his heart aching as if someone had twisted a knife in it.

"Cole, don’t forget you’re on my turf now," Alex said coldly. "If it weren’t for Claire, I’d have already sent you straight to hell!"

"Oh? Is that so?" Cole responded, a cruel smile curling at his lips. "Then go ahead, try it!"

Boom!

The atmosphere in the room grew tense, suffocating.

With one swift motion, Cole grabbed the remote control off the table and pressed the button.

Boom!

A deafening explosion followed as the door blew apart into fragments, and dust filled the air. Alex’s pupils shrank in shock as he quickly retreated, dodging the blast.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

A few bullets pierced Alex’s left shoulder blade, and blood gushed out!

Cole watched with a mocking smirk on his lips, saying, "Alex, did you really think I’d come here without preparation? How ridiculous!"

"Do you think I’d give you any chance to take Claire away?" Alex said angrily.

"Impossible!" Cole sneered, a crazed, bloodthirsty glint flashing in his eyes. "Do you think I wouldn’t dare kill you?"

Alex’s body trembled as he raised his head to look at Cole. "If you even touch a hair on Claire’s head..."

"Do you think I’ll give you that chance?" Cole interrupted, still sneering.

"Alex, no matter who tries to intervene, it won’t change your fate," Cole added coldly.

Alex’s face turned ashen.

"Do you dare?" Claire suddenly asked, her voice sharp.

Cole turned to her with an amused smile. "What do you think?"
