Rebirth to take revenge -
Chapter 129: Greg family
Chapter 129: Greg family
The old woman watched Claire’s back, a glint flashing in her eyes before she slowly closed them.
Claire took out a silver needle from the medicine box and placed her hand on the old woman’s pulse. Her brow furrowed, but after a moment, she sighed in relief. Although the old woman’s body felt weak and feeble from the pulse, it was clear that her body’s functions had been maintained through years of medication. For Claire, this was not a hopeless situation.
"Grandma, let me take care of your treatment from now on. Don’t worry, I will make you healthy again," Claire said with a gentle tone and a soft laugh.
Hearing this, the man in the suit beside the old woman snorted coldly. "My grandma has been treated here for years and hasn’t seen any improvement. How dare you speak such big words?"
Claire looked up at the man in the suit and said calmly, "Don’t believe me? Just wait and see if I can cure her."
"You..." The man in the suit was about to argue, but the old woman grabbed his arm.
The old woman nodded slightly at Claire, then looked at the man and said, "Josh, don’t cause trouble."
After speaking, the old woman closed her eyes again, trusting Claire. Josh, though clearly skeptical, stayed quiet but kept a close eye on Claire.
Claire didn’t say much. She bypassed Josh and sat in front of the old woman. The old woman, knowing her grandson’s character, ignored his protests and let Claire continue.
Soon, Claire took out the silver needle and carefully inserted it into the old woman’s acupuncture points. Seeing this, Josh rushed forward to stop her and roared angrily, "What are you doing, girl?"
The man in the suit yelled and grabbed Claire’s arm, trying to push her.
Seeing this, Alex immediately stepped forward, stood in front of Claire, knocked off the man’s hand, and asked with a sullen face, "What’s wrong with you?"
"It’s not your business. Why are you interfering?"
The man in the suit looked at Alex with disgust and contempt in his eyes. His gaze was intense, making Alex suddenly feel very uncomfortable.
However, Alex did not back down. Instead, with a calm face, he said, "Irrelevant people, please leave."
After speaking, Alex turned to Claire and asked, "Are you okay?"
Claire shook her head, her expression calm. Then, looking at the man in the suit, she said evenly, "This is my unique treatment method. Please rest assured."
The man in the suit was taken aback for a moment. He hadn’t expected that this young woman would use such a method to treat the old man, and she said it with such confidence. But the old man needed immediate attention, and he couldn’t continue to obstruct her. So, he stepped back and remained silent, waiting for Claire to administer the needle.
Seeing the man in the suit no longer obstructing, Alex turned to continue watching Claire. Her face remained calm as she picked up the silver needle and inserted it into the old woman’s acupuncture point.
"Ah!"
Seeing this, the man in the suit couldn’t help but exclaim. He had never thought Claire would actually dare to treat the old woman. Judging by her focused expression, she seemed to be quite skilled in the process. Could it be that she had treated such patients before?
Claire remained oblivious to the man’s reaction, wholly engrossed in her task. Soon, beads of sweat appeared on the old woman’s forehead, but her expression was one of relief.
Claire looked at the old woman with a faint smile. She put away the silver needle and turned to Alex, saying, "It’s okay. Her condition is stable now. I’ll prepare some medicine for her, and with a little adjustment, she will recover."
"Really?" Josh asked, surprised.
"Really," Claire nodded seriously.
Hearing this, the man in the suit couldn’t help but scoff. "Hmph, bragging!"
Alex didn’t get angry. Instead, he calmly looked at the man in the suit. Feeling the pressure, the man in the suit lowered his head, unable to meet Alex’s gaze.
"In that case, I’ll take my leave," the man said.
"You go first," Alex replied, then turned to the old woman and said, "Take care of yourself, and if you need anything, don’t hesitate to let me know."
The old woman nodded slightly with a smile. "Thank you for your help. Without you, I wouldn’t know who to turn to."
Alex couldn’t help but smile back. He gave Claire a few instructions and then left the room.
After Alex walked out of the office, the man in the suit raised his head and, in a displeased tone, asked Claire, "How did you cure her?"
"You don’t have to doubt or worry about my medical skills because I would never harm her," Claire replied calmly.
Although unconvinced, the man in the suit held back his emotions. As an adult, he knew what to say and what not to say. He quickly suppressed his frustration.
"You’d better not be playing any tricks. Otherwise, you’ll meet a terrible fate!" he threatened.
Claire, unfazed by his words, provocatively replied, "Why don’t you go check on her and see for yourself if she’s okay?"
Hearing this, the man in the suit felt his and hurried into the old woman’s room. As soon as he opened the door and walked in, the old woman was about to lie down and rest. When she saw the man, a smile appeared on the corner of her mouth.
The man in the suit was taken aback and asked in surprise, "Grandma, you..."
"Josh, you’re being a little too fussy," the old woman said, looking at him. "I feel much better now than before. Perhaps after a while, I’ll be perfectly fine."
"But, Grandma..."
"Okay, let’s go out now."
"Alright," the man in the suit hesitated for a moment, then nodded and left the old woman’s room.
Once outside, he looked at Claire, a hint of apology on his face, and said, "I’m sorry, I misunderstood you. It’s just that my grandma has seen too many quack doctors over the years."
"My name is Greg Josh, and this is my business card."
After speaking, the man in the suit took out a bronzed business card from his pocket and handed it to Claire.
Seeing his sincerity, Claire didn’t refuse. She reached out and took the business card he offered.
The Greg family of City A—power and status equal to the Miller family. Claire was surprised to learn how noble the old woman’s identity was. She couldn’t help but feel relieved that she had encountered a reasonable and sensible person. Otherwise, if the old woman had been arrogant and difficult, Claire might have found herself in serious trouble.
Seeing Claire accept his business card, Josh felt a sense of relief. Although he knew his attitude had been overly harsh, he was an adult, fully aware of the situation and his responsibilities. His mission was to ensure the old woman’s safety, and he couldn’t allow anyone to recklessly treat her.
Looking at Claire, he asked, "Are you a doctor at this clinic?"
"If possible, I was wondering if you’d be willing to continue my grandma’s diagnosis and treatment at home. After all, your acupuncture method just now... in my opinion, it was rather unconventional."
"I want to learn. I wonder if you can teach," the man in the suit looked at Claire and said seriously.
"I’m sorry, this is my privacy, so I can’t promise that," Claire responded.
"If you’re willing to pay one hundred dollars for the consultation fee, I might consider passing on my secret manual to you," Claire said with a smile.
After hearing Claire’s words, the man in the suit suddenly became embarrassed. He hadn’t expected this woman to say such a thing. One hundred dollars? Did she think he couldn’t afford the money?
The man in the suit, Josh, was unhappy but couldn’t show his anger. After all, this was a hospital, and he had seen Claire’s medical skills before—she was skilled. Josh suppressed the anger in his heart, took out a gold card, and said, "There’s one million dollars in this card. It will cover your medical expenses for diagnosing and treating my grandmother."
"But during the treatment, you’ll need to live at the Greg house. The location of your medical clinic is too remote, and my grandmother is in poor health. It would be too much to have her constantly travel back and forth. Please understand," Josh explained. "If you agree, I’ll hand over the card to you immediately."
After speaking, Josh stared straight at Claire, waiting for her response. Claire raised an eyebrow as she listened to his words, glancing at the gold card in Josh’s hand. Her lips moved, but she didn’t speak. This man was certainly confident.
However, Claire had a good impression of Josh. Such a domineering, arrogant, and confident man must have some abilities. After a long silence, Claire finally spoke, "Alright."
