Rebirth to take revenge -
Chapter 106: Exception
Chapter 106: Exception
Claire’s eyes were full of disbelief as she murmured, "This, how is it possible?"
Seeing Claire’s expression, Alex also understood something. It seemed that Leander had been contacting him behind Claire’s back.
Alex looked at Claire, and his expression became serious. He leaned closer to her and whispered, "Miss Smith."
"No, maybe I should call you my wife."
Claire’s face stiffened, and a layer of cold sweat appeared on her back. Her lips moved, wanting to refute his words. But before she could say anything, Alex continued,
"I had a car accident and forgot some very important things, but I can be sure that you are my wife. Because from the moment I saw you, the speed at which my heart beats have doubled."
Alex pointed to his chest, his eyes filled with pain as he said, "I don’t know why you left me, whether it was for some reason or because of a misunderstanding between us."
"But now, can I ask you to come back to my side?"
Claire tightly pursed her lips, her palms clenched so tightly that they hurt.
"If... if you feel that you owe me something, you can compensate me in other ways," she said, her tone a little urgent.
"For example, money? Or a house? As long as it’s something I can give, I’m willing to exchange it with you."
"Don’t worry, although I have amnesia, my memory is still good. I just need some time, and I can recover everything," Alex said word by word.
After listening, Claire couldn’t help but laugh. Her smile was mocking, "Didn’t you decide to marry Anna? Why would you say these things to me? Anna is a perfect match for you in terms of both identity and appearance, isn’t she?"
Moreover, you two have been childhood sweethearts." If nothing unexpected happens, she should be your wife. And me? I just happened to appear in your memory by accident. Now that you’ve forgotten, isn’t it just right?"
The more Claire spoke, the more intense her tone became. She didn’t know where Alex got the courage to say these things to her today.
She admitted that she was touched deep down when she heard those words. But with just that brief touch, it was impossible to change her plan.
She would never allow the plan she had made for three years to be disrupted by this little incident today.
Every night for five years, she had been racking her brains to find ways to deal with Cole. Seeing that the time was about to ripen, Claire would never allow any mishaps to happen now! Alex looked into Claire’s determined eyes, feeling a pang in his heart. But he still tried to restrain his emotions and said calmly,
"I never intended to marry someone else. That woman and I only have an engagement, nothing more. As long as you are willing to stay by my side, we can have the wedding immediately and drive away those who are blocking us."
Upon hearing this, Claire sneered, "Do you think I will believe you?"
Alex looked at Claire and said each word carefully, "I am not..."
"I am not lying to you. I know you have grievances in your heart, and I can give you time. If, in the end, I still cannot win your love..." Alex’s voice paused as if he was thinking about something. He slowly continued, "Then I won’t force you, but I hope you can give me a chance to make up for it."
Claire was suddenly shaken by his words. She stared at Alex, as if trying to discern whether he was lying or not from his sincere expression. After a moment, she spoke, "You really don’t have to do this. After all, we have had nothing to do with each other since three years ago."
As Claire spoke, she inexplicably felt a strange emotion. It was as if they were not husband and wife, but strangers who had just met.
"What do you mean by ’nothing to do with each other’? Didn’t we get married?" Alex’s eyes widened, his voice rising a few notches as he asked.
"You have amnesia, so you forgot how we got married," Claire said with a slight smile. "You bought the Western Medical Clinic for three million and appointed me as the director. It was for a year, and I needed to repay you the money. That’s why we maintained our marital relationship."
With that, Claire picked up the glass on the table and drank it all in one go. Then she stood up and looked at Alex. "Now, the year is up, and I don’t want the Western Medical Clinic anymore. So, the agreement is automatically null and void, and we have nothing to do with each other."
After saying that, Claire turned around to leave. However, Alex called her back again.
"Did you ask Leander about this decision?" he asked.
Claire paused but didn’t turn around.
"If I’m not mistaken, he’s my son, right?" Alex continued.
Claire’s back stiffened, but she still refused to turn around.
"Why make the child suffer between us?" Alex sighed. He took a big step toward Claire.
Feeling the wind beside her, Claire instinctively dodged to the side. Alex grabbed her arm and asked, "Where is he? I want to see him."
"He’s not here," Claire said coldly, shaking off his hand.
"Then call him here, and the three of us can talk," Alex suggested calmly, as if he had prepared himself for this conversation.
Claire furrowed her brows, feeling a sense of worry rising in her heart.
Alex suddenly appeared and directly mentioned his marriage with Anna. This was too strange! She felt like something was slipping out of her control and heading in a direction that was not in her favor. And it was a very dangerous direction.
Claire lifted her gaze, her eyes cold and calm. "As for the matters between my son and me, you don’t need to meddle in them." She spoke clearly and decisively, without any hesitation.
"Well then, don’t blame me for being impolite," Alex suddenly showed a fierce expression. He grabbed Claire’s collar and pulled her forcefully.
Claire struggled desperately, but her resistance was useless against Alex, who was over six feet tall. He pressed Claire onto the sofa, then lowered his body and grabbed her neck.
"What... what are you doing?" Claire said with difficulty.
"You said earlier that I don’t even have the qualifications to see Leander?" Alex’s mouth curved into a bloodthirsty smile, his eyes icy and chilling, making people shudder.
"You..." Claire widened her eyes in fear.
Alex laughed coldly. "I’ll tell you today—"
"I, Alex, have never failed to get what I want! Even you are no exception!"
Alex’s eyes were filled with a menacing intent. He tore off Claire’s shirt button, revealing her fair skin.
Claire widened her eyes in shock. She looked at the man in front of her in disbelief, her heart pounding heavily.
"Alex, do you know what you’re doing?! Is this something you can just mess around with?!"
Claire shouted sharply, her arms propped up on both sides of the sofa, trying to push Alex away. But Alex remained motionless.
Claire became anxious and bit her teeth. She opened her mouth and bit down on Alex’s chest.
Alex wrinkled his brow. Claire took advantage of the situation and tackled Alex onto the sofa. She sat on Alex’s waist and grabbed his shirt tightly, angrily scolding him:
"Do you know what consequences your stubbornness will bring?! Do you know it could cost you your life?!"
Hearing this, Alex suddenly froze. Looking at the pain and anger in Claire’s eyes, he suddenly hesitated.
However, in just a moment, he became firm again and said, "No matter what the consequences, I only want you".
Claire was stunned. She looked up at Alex with a complex expression. His eyes were filled with determination. Claire suddenly felt confused. Why was she so afraid of him? She couldn’t figure it out, only feeling a burning flame in her chest.
She gritted her teeth, reached out a hand, and fiercely grabbed Alex’s neck. His face turned red, and his breathing became difficult. But he didn’t give up. He just held onto her shoulders tightly, not letting her move.
In her panic, she knocked over the glass on the table behind Alex with a bang, and the glass shattered. His heart tightened, and he subconsciously released his grip on Claire’s arm. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Anna quickly broke free from his control and stood up.
